All of us using the Honda engines are doing a great job, 1-2-3-5 in qualifying and a 2-4-5-6 in the race show what is the engine capable of, I'm excited to for the Canada race to arrive! :D

I enjoyed this one. :D

@swiftsmith Both crashes were really unlucky, you got squeezed right out but that's what can happen when you have a low grid slot.

Ooh what about me too?

Stop looking for sympathy and acknowledge your tune was **** and try and come back stronger next time.

That's my plan anyways

Another good points haul, but more questions asked than answers given. Laptimes seemed to suggest I should have been second, but my driver seems frightened of rear wings everytime he got close eno
ugh to apply some pressure...
Well done to @optiongamers though I think @Gerarghini deserved that one! Good call with the strategy @aarror as well, tyres didn't seem to degrade at all...
Made a set that was good on tires, in exchange for overall laptime. Didnt think it was going to pay off afterseeing Q times, but it worked out way better than expected.

Another frustrating race at least I got to lead a lap but can't understand why my tune was still slower during the race and yet I was the fastest Porsche in practice and qualifying for the first 2 races

I was the fastest Porsche in the practice for this race.

I don't have to see rest of the race to know my car only made spots because of others bad luck. Still not changing things.

1st Place - optiongamers (FIS/Ferrari)

Q: Very clutch performance late in the going there, overtaking 2nd and then 1st place for the victory. Does this help you bury what happened at the last race?

optiongamers: The win did bury the peformance but I am always looking ahead to the next race.

Q: You won the second race of last season as well, but somehow faded as the championship progressed. What is going to be different this time so that doesnt happen?

optiongamers: It is hard to say about how I can keep up the good results so far this season.

Q: Ferrari powered cars are expected to be strong at Montreal. How high is your confidence level going into the race right now?

optiongamers: I have a very high confidence going into Montreal and I am looking for a podium but anything can happen in the race.

Q: Is there any particular Honda teams you are keeping an eye on?

optiongamers: Not right now once the season starts to pan out then I might be focusing on a team.

2nd Place - Gerarghini (FIS/Honda)

Q:
You led the most laps but didnt come away with the win. Is there anything you could have done differently to change the result?

Gerarghini: Honestly, who knows? It's honestly refreshing to be able to lead laps since China last season as well as our disaster at Monaco; only 10 laps led entire past season. Judging by how well @aarror was able to finish again using 1 stop, it seems like faster tracks with less tire strain favor such a setup.

Q: Have you figured out where you are gaining, or losing time to optiongamers?

Gerarghini:
I believe it was in the corners; the car was fast enough on the straights but probably had too little downforce to get through the corners quick enough. @optiongamers had a really fast car and once clear of @Peasantslayer, I knew it would only be a matter of time.

Q: After such a strong performance in Brazil, are you ready to become the face of Honda to bring the fight to Ferrari?

Gerarghini: I don't think my team is quite there yet, but we're not too far off after making significant improvements over Season 1. I would honestly say @Peasantslayer since his results come from bad luck rather than poor setups; He's fast in practice and qualifying.

Q: What are your expectations for Montreal?

Gerarghini:
A DNF, it's been too good of a season so far. Haha, but honestly I hope I can nail a setup for Montreal and consistently run with the top tier teams. Mark my words, I will win a race this season.

3rd Place - aarror (FIS/Ferrari)

Q: You were one of just 3 one stop cars in the field and you pulled it off to bag your 5th straight podium finish. Did the strategy fit your car or the circuit or both?

aarror: I think I got lucky. With a fast car I think 2 stops was a better choice but as I wasn't quite on the pace I decided to try something different, and it paid off.

Q:
You were leading late but lost positions to Gerarghini and optiongamers. Did the tires have nothing left or did the car just lack the pace?

aarror: The car was lacking pace for sure, I went conservative to preserve tires but it cost me laptime. I think I went too conservative, which cost me the win.

Q:
optiongamers, another Ferrari driver, appears to hold a slight edge in speed over you. Does this concern you at all?

aarror: Not too much, he showed pace in the early races last season, while this is my first time visiting these tracks. As the season goes on I hope to close the gap.

Q: Can you make it 6 podiums in a row in Montreal?

aarror: It's my home race, so obviously I'll be looking for a good result. Competition will be tough, so we'll see.

Change to the Schedule: Hockenehim 1998 has been replaced with Catalunya 1998.

Also if you have the credits to upgrade your car you probably should.

damn, i'm 10k short.

anyway, why the change? any issues with AI on that track?

I think Frizbe could be a real threat here, he might be down in 7th but he's only 3 tenths off and very fast on the straights.
I hope so haha I think that makes twice I have had the highest trap speeds. Too bad I couldn't convert on the last race. And I might be :censored:d on the more technical tracks since I can't get a feel for these setups at all.
Also just noticed me and @DCybertron are the only ones to run same pace as our ideal laps. I'm not sure if that's good or bad though.

Attempting to level the playing field for everyone. I considered performance balancing the engines, but realized the problem is too many tracks are geared towards top speed performance, so I replaced the pure top speed Hockenheim track with an intermediate Catalunya. So now there is one very twisty course on the schedule (Monaco) and one long straight course (Monza). The rest I believe are pretty intermediate and no one engine should have an advantage.

And if anyone is worried about Monaco thats been taken care of. I actually tried 4, yes four different Monaco courses and all produced more carnage then the version we used in season 1. So the solution is I will turn down the damage sensitivity so the cars can take much more punishment before losing a wheel or wing.

I will be running practice and qualifying using the practice session from here on out. I found out for the first time when running practice at Montreal the AI change to harder tires after they finish their first run and thats why they almost always run slower laps after their initial stint. I edited the .hdv and .svm setup file to call for super soft tires at all times, but the game overrules those changes and gives them a harder set of tires after their initial stint in practice/qualifying.

A brief breakdown of how the AI behaves

Practice Session: AI runs 3-5 conservative laps on super softs, then pits and changes to medium softs and runs conservative laps.

Qualifying Session: AI runs 1 hard lap on super softs, then pits and changes to medium soft and runs conservative laps.

So while the qualifying session provides faster laps, the practice session is actually better suited to qualfiying as it gives the cars 3-5 chances for a good lap compared to just 1 from the qualifying session. This is important because traffic can really hurt lap times if you catch it in the wrong places.

Edit: And one more thing. I think I'll start running 2 shorter practices back to back using the same setups. I dont think one practice tells the whole story....
