I am not sure if I mentioned this or not, but I once read an article on motorsport.com about how the talent in Formula E is comparable to F1. Then again, a lot of the drivers in Formula E are ex-F1 racers. So it isn't like these are a bunch of rookies with no experience whatsoever in major international racing. Hearing/Seeing names like Sakon Yamamoto and such have me saying, "hey! He/She was in Formula 1." People who would criticize the Formula E would probably say these were a bunch of has-beens who couldn't cut the mustard in F1. To me, this is a very nice assembly of talent to race these Formula E cars.
As an off-topic note, I downloaded the Formula E mod for rFactor this past weekend. I now have a little simulated feel of how the cars perform and sound. They are fairly nimble machines and get up to speed pretty well based on this mod. I think I remember even announcer Bob Varsha talk about how powerful these cars are at accelerating. Then again, how many open-wheel machines AREN'T nimble? If you want poor-handling open-wheelers, you'd probably look at modified stock cars or those thunder roadsters. These Formula E cars are going to get better. I see no way that the FIA and the various teams put in all this money and all this hype just to let everything go to waste or not further develop these machines. This series has a future and has loads of appeal. Have to see how much the development goes if you give Formula E about 3-5 years. If it lasts about 10 years, then we'll really note the progress of the series and its success.
That's all. Looking forward to following the London ePrix.
