Little underwhelming, I was hoping he'd be drunk and start trying to fight the front tyre or something but here's a video of Boris Johnson having a go at Formula E.

With all the electric car usage, my only fear about this series is how to handle rainy/wet conditions. Of course, water and electricity isn't a good idea to mix together. I always feared something like electrocution in regards to electric cars and rainy/wet conditions. Then again, look at F1 cars with the KERS systems. Someone can probably tell me otherwise, but the one thing I always feared was something like electrocution with these electric race cars in a wet or rainy race.

Even still, I still want to wish good luck to all drivers and teams this weekend in the finale of the inaugural Formula E Championship. All congratulations to the champion of this inaugural season.

The batteries and electrical systems are heavily insulated, and the cars have to be properly grounded. It would have been one of the first things taken into consideration when the cars were designed.

Is there any official streams to watch this thing?

I'm interested to see my fellow countrymen fighting for the title.
I'm sure they're streaming it on Dailymotion in certain regions. I'll try find a link to the news article.

Edit: there is a live streaming service here, but it doesn't support Brazil.

Anyone else in the UK watching this on ITV Sport? Two things...

Firstly, isn't it uncanny how Martin Brundle's son sounds like him? And secondly, during the qualifying it was hilarious how badly ITV managed to bleep out the driver's swearing. If anything they managed to highlight it.

My prediction is Buemi, as this track is so narrow that I can't see anyone getting past.

Say to that Vergne and to the three cars that went by Abt.

Yeah it is uncanny, does sound totally like him especially when he's talking through a VT. I suppose that's how he got the commentary gig, well that and the surname!

Battersea Park isn't a great circuit. It's too narrow, and it's full of awkward corners. It seems to be more a case of getting motorsport in London than it is about producing quality racing.

Having seen most of the other rounds I have to agree. It's also way too bumpy for an open wheel series.

It reminds me of the old Canberra 400 circuit, which was so narrow that you couldn't squeeze between the cars or between the cars and the wall when they lined up on the grid.

I get the feeling that the rain and qualifying groups has killed the championship battle. Congrats to Buemi and bad luck Piquet, he deserved it this season.

Honestly, I think Piquet winning is the worst possible outcome for the sport. Putting aside his role in the Singapore scandal, some of his comments on the grid - particularly about drivers racing for their seats - were completely uncalled-for and very unsporting.

He is just a pretentious, arrogant you know what. Genuinely believes he is amazing.

I'd have preferred Seb to win, and I would call Bruno Senna's driving into question during the race but it is what it is and the season has been fantastic.

Very sad for Di Grassi. Such a nice guy.

I remember that in Monaco he went about saying that Di Grassi had spoiled his qualifying lap on purpose.

If I was Di Grassi I would have said "yeah, at least I am not recognised for crashing on purpose".

But being Di Grassi a cool guy, he didn't.

EDIT: I don't like him because he had always the best stuff until F1. His father would simply buy the best team in the series to him. This eventually made Piquet Jr what he is today.

He is amazing, a car run by Campos Racing should not be fighting for the championship against manufacture supported Abt and DAMS teams. This is the same driver who almost beat Lewis Hamilton to the GP2 title whilst racing for a tiny team (Hitech Racing against ART). Di Grassi has been the driver whinging all season long whilst Piquet has got his head down and drove like the champion he is.

A guy who did what he done on Singapore could be called a lot of things. A champion isn't one of those things.
