So, I decided to give Formula E another go and watched the Long Beach race... I was very very sad... Maybe an unpopular opinion but the lack of engine noise really depressed me, and definitely not a fan of the fanboost thing. On the plus side, some of the car liveries were pretty okay, and I guess overtaking would happen more if it wasn't Long Beach...

The series to me is just a show of what could happen to racing in the future, and I don't like it at all. Plus I can imagine that without engines that good old pitlane smell would be gone too... and ever since GT2 I have been addicted to that smell... (probably not a good thing haha)

I watched the replay on Fox. The cars look slow. I tried to get hype because the cars are racing. After a couple crashes, I shut it off. I think Monaco would be a better city circuit because of the scenery. Long Beach looks borring on its own.

Couldn't agree more. You'd have to pay me my regular paycheque to get me to watch a Formula E race on tv, plenty more to attend in person. One of the few motorsports I have zero interest in.

I won't actively seek out Formula E when it's on, but if I chance upon it, I won't switch it off without a good reason. It will probably be better once the cars can go a full race distance without the need for a chassis change.

I think it could be cool. The long straights might be an issue but still cool. I font expect it, though, to happen anytime soon. 2019 at the earliest.

I think as these cars evolve, we may see these cars take on some of the longer and more difficult courses. I'm actually surprised in terms of real-world courses that they don't race on tracks like Tsukuba Circuit or Adria International Raceway. The Indy course for Formula E may utilize some of the Grand Prix course. We saw a different configuration with Long Beach and a different configuration for the upcoming Monte Carlo race, so I wouldn't be surprised to see at least a modified short course for today's Formula E at Indy. I surely would want to see Formula E take on a number of courses worldwide. Or unless they want to almost entirely focus on mostly street courses.

Not that it would happen, but it would be crazy if Formula E raced Macau. Anyone who has seen how brutally challenging the Macau Guia Circuit is can mean total insanity for Formula E.

Macau would be awesome. Seeing as they've lost the WTCC and are looking for an alternative series, FE might be a good idea. The problem with a circuit like Tsukuba, Adria or Knockhill is that they aren't what FE is after, it wants to race in cities, not suburbs, industrial estates or the countryside.

There's no point doing it yet, as there would have to be a stupid chicane on the main straight.

Yes, but there's still the overwhelming matter of there just not being any physical space to make a shorter road course.

At the top of the hour on FOX Sports 1, highlights of the Formula E race at Monaco is coming up. Just a heads-up. Thanks for reading.

Buemi om pole.
Di Grassi was accused by Piquet of blocking him during qualifying.
3k posts!:gtpflag:

Bloody hell, what a shocking start! The only time I would see more debris in an ePrix would be in rFactor's Formula E mod!

I was fairly curious as to how the Monaco course would be different for the Formula E cars because it looked fairly similar to half of the classic Monte Carlo layout. After the first corner, there's a hairpin that goes into a small chicane and down a fairly narrow road. Just about most of the course outside of the hotel tunnel and the super-slow chicane afterwards was the rest of the course. That first corner was full of chaos on the first lap of the race. The one thing that surprised me about this race- there has NEVER been a race of the championship in Europe until now. Off the top of my head... China, Malaysia, Uruguay, Argentina, two United States rounds... and then this race in Monaco. Congratulations to (the Monaco e-Prix winner (to avoid spoiling)).

Up next... gutentag, Germany! You're next- Round 8 of the inaugural Formula E Championship on the streets of Berlin, Germany on May 23.

I'm going to the Sunday race in London in a few weeks! Looking forward to seeing these cars in person.

That bottleneck was ready to take some victims.

I like the circuit, though :)

Was it me, or did the first Piscine corner look a little shallower (pun not intended) than it does in the F1? I'm sure the whole wall on the right on the exit of Tabac to the chicane were closer to the harbour.
