Somewhat related, apparently a full electric car managed to take the overall victory at Pikes Peak this year: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/...pikes-peak-victory-under-electric-power-video

Obviously the batteries doesn't have to last 30-60 mins in a 10 minute sprint up a mountain, but it shows what's possible in terms of speed for electric cars. In a few years time when battery and charging tech has improved maybe electric race cars might render its ICE counterparts obsolete :scared:

With this past season concluded, the next question will be about how to evolve the series. I still think there is potential to grow and expand Formula E to become just as viable a motorsports series as any other. Maybe Formula E could get to be as competitive as most Formula 3 series or maybe even up to the more viable formula race car series. I haven't put down the series only on the merits of the cars not sounding loud or the cars not being as capable like a lot of others have. Some people make Formula E sound like go-karts are more capable and exciting than Formula E. I think this series will possibly have a longer shelf life than, say... the A1GP.

Besides my thoughts on the future of Formula E, I saw some highlight packages of the two London ePrix races on YouTube. Wow... this course is pretty narrow and almost completely featureless besides all the trees. Maybe not Macau narrow, but there doesn't seem to be too many points to really let loose and get aggressive. It's like trying to maneuver a Group B rally car or a modern LMP1 prototype around a go-kart track. If you ask me, if the promoters can pull it off, I'd rather see Formula E race the London course we all know from the Gran Turismo series. Or if they wanted to really go for a spin around London, they'd do the Victoria Road course from Enthusia Professional Racing.

All congratulations regardless to Nelson Piquet Jr. on being the first-ever Formula E World Champion.

Well, CAMS and the FIA have expressed interest in seeing Formula E in the Land Down Under, so that could be a potential contender for the TBA spot, but I highly doubt it. It'll probably be another Asian city that will get it.

Could see it in Sydney, our state government is really cashed up from the property boom atm.

Yeah I couldn't see it being anywhere else really. It would be a let down if where to be somewhere else in Australia. Canberra and the Parliament House would be good, but we all remember the rather flawed Canberra 400 track for V8SC. It could work with Formula E, but it would be exactly like Battersea Park.

I think it'll either be another American city or Montreal considering the location of the rounds around it.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that Montreal would host the season-opener.
Beijing was always planned to host the season opener but Montreal was in talks with hosting a round.

Tesla Motorsports? Sounds cool. If Fisker didn't go bankrupt, imagine a little rivalry between Tesla and Fisker if both had interest in Formula E.

I still think it's sad to not see an Australian venue, or even a New Zealand venue. Two viable locales would be either Sydney or Melbourne as far as Australia is concerned. Or they may even give some ePrix loving to Adelaide or Perth.

You know another country I'm surprised didn't get an ePrix course? Japan. I could easily imagine setting up a course in Tokyo, Yokohama, or Osaka. You almost can't think technology and automobiles without mentioning Japan.

Just some more musings of mine on Formula E...

As a Sydney-sider, I can honestly say that as exciting as the prospect of a race is, it's a terrible idea. Sydney is an unplanned city - it really just grew as was needed, and so any preparations for a race would have a major impact on the city.

Considering making a 2015/16 season thread. That way we could have the OP up to date with points standings after every round and other additional information opposed to having one that is 3 years old an about the series being announced :)

I would ask the mods first.

Formula E have launched a fan survey, a lot of what is being discussed here is very valid! Chance to win signed stuff as well as being involved in the future of the series.

Andretti Formula E is now Amlin Andretti Formula E.

I fully expected that title of that article to continue on with "...just not connected to the car".

Needless to say, I was disappointed.
