You know, I finally set up my wheel for my PS2 and....it's amazing how GT with a wheel still can't compare to Forza on a controller.
The understeer in GT4 is just plain atrocious. NSX's do NOT lazily understeer through corners if you put the pedal to the metal. I never once got a single bit of power oversteer in the All Japan Championship with a 320HP NSX. Even when I planted the throttle down, it would just lazily understeer. ALL the damn cars in that damn game understeer.
And then GT5 improved on the physics heavily, but a game that doesn't have adjustable tire pressure and doesn't model tire width can only be called a sim with great forgiveness. I will admit that tire wear is done way better on GT, though.
Also, playing GT4 reminded me of how much it and GT5's menus SUCK. Let's see how many things I have to do to change my car for a race in both of them:
>Pick car A from Garage
>Go to main GT mode menu. Long wait because PD can't make quick menus to save their lives
>Go to races. Long wait.
>Check race
>See its restrictions
>Go back out of races. Long wait
>Go back into garage. Long wait
>Select car for race. Long wait
>Get into car. Long wait
>Go out of garage into main GT mode menu. Long wait
>Go to races. Long wait.
>Select race. Long wait
>Start race.
To do the equivalent in FM4:
>Select car A
>Go out of garage. Very short and smooth menus
>Go to races
>See restrictions
>Hit Y. It gives me a list of my cars, and even puts the ones that fit best for the race in question first
>Select car for race
>Start race
I rest my case.
