8.8-9.0 sounds about right so far. Incredible to look at graphically, but some of the features got cut by a lot including cars and tracks. I feel bad for the developers.

I think F5 will be a good beta for the next gen X1 system. Its kinda like starting all over with Forza 1 for the original xbox. They will start with F5 and hopefully by F6 or F7 they will have 600+ cars all in autovista, more tracks, and night / weather.

Lack of weather / night racing is something else that will indeed effect this series review scores....again.

"Dynamic time of day is again absent from Forza 5, as is changing weather; two omissions that are beginning to weigh heavily against the series."

Edge are knowing for being incredibly exhaustive in their reviews. Interesting score.

There is a menu option for the Forza Marketplace, but it hasn’t yet been activated; presumably it’s still being tested prior to launch. It’s one of the countless features Forza players ordinarily expect that we’ve lost on the way to Xbox One. A quick list? There’s no way to sell unused cars back to the AI or to other players, no bespoke onscreen speedometers, no test driving a car before purchase, no kid-friendly Kinect steering or Kinect support in Forzavista, no opportunity to load a circuit-specific tuning setup before a career race, no exiting from a race series without loading up the next track, no unicorn cars, no ‘reasonably priced car’, no auction house, no storefront, and no surprise, really. Forza 5 is a launch game with all the spectacle and disappointment we’ve come to expect from launch games. While the handling is still magic and the content on offer is substantial in a way, Forza 5 is best seen as a foundation for what Forza 6 will be in a couple of years. By comparison, this launch-day sampler will seem awfully limited, far from the hoped-for victory lap impossible on prior hardware. After all, it seems limited by comparison with Forza 4 now.
Very fair and objective. I'll definitely wait for FM6 now.

Metacritic score is lower than GT5, not bad for a launch game but i have a feeling GT6 will break Forza's "highest rated racing simulator of the generation" when it launches on december 6th.

It would be great if it did because that should mean a great step up from GT5.

From what I make out of it so far there's not that much of an upgrade to warrant the higher scores. We shall see.

GT6 Adds to what GT5 was and improves some areas (not everything) while Forza 5 takes away from Forza 4 in terms of content and focuses on graphics, predictable review scores i would say, i was expecting it to be 80ish in Metacritic.

Good for Polyphony for playing it safe. :embarrassed: "Highest rated racing simulator of the previous generation" sure is something to aim for

I predict this will be the lowest scoring Forza. I hope MS won't start laying people off for lower metacritic scores because they wanted at racing game a launch.

I don't think anyone was expecting perfect scores, 8-9 seems pretty fair and not bad for a rushed launch title. All this version is doing is showing off what next gen can do at its base level, FM6 will no doubt wreck 🤬. Hopefully I will have a go at it soon, I can only pray someone I know will buy new XB and FM5 soon!

From Admin: don't bypass the swear filter.

CVG really pulled no punches. I made a big adjustment in my driving coming from the GT series, looks like I may have to do that again.

And a brand new physics model off course, and fantastic new AI ;)

Taking it further ahead of GT in both those regards. I'm sure we would all agree that the driving model is the single most important aspect of a driving game, no?

It's as if some are trying to throw anything they can at Forza and see if it sticks. It has less cars, but that's because they added Autovista to all of them. Less tracks, but only so they could offer any new tracks in detail that does a new console justice. They further refine the handling model and this gets overlooked because of content.

I remember the 360 launch and all it had was PGR3 and that was really cut down from the full-fat second game. Was still fun, though.

IGN claims that you can't look under the hood of every vehicle in Autovista mode, which if true kind of sucks.

I believe Forza's claim had to do with the overall series average score. Considering GT6 is only really adding a few tracks and cars to GT5, and a new physics engine (while every other feature is being cut out at launch, to be patched in at some unknown later date), I don't see it scoring very much higher than 5 did, especially as the genre has changed in three years, and it's on a last-gen system now.

IGN replay made me feel warm inside, the car porn with the top gear trio commentating on top couldn't get any better 👍

What i'm a bit worried about after seeing some more reviews is the drivatar AI being too damn wild. If they are based on people playing a racing game with no regard for their cars or health, it might be one destruction derby of a race...

I like my races clean and gentleman like...

I wouldn't worry about that. The current selection of drivatars is extremely limited (mostly gaming press) and we've all seen how awful they are at sim racing. It will be much better once the really good players start building their profiles.

Should be epic to constantly be able to race against good quality opposition, rather than only online with people you trust.

Hope the game will be good at linking you with the other gentlemen drivers then :)

Yes but there are also going to be even worse drivers on there!

Think I read that there going to match them to you by skill is that correct?

Is there some kind of skill meter involved or is it just rank?

There will be 7 Drivatar difficulty levels to choose from. I'm inclined to think that the majority of level 6s and 7s are respectful of clean racing.

Ah ok thanks, that's makes more sense so yeah, the higher the setting the better you opponents should be!

This game looks fantastic. Unfortunately I can't get it on launch because the PlayStation 4 is a better console for me but when I eventually get an Xbone this will be the first game I play.

I've a huge fan of both Gran Turismo and Forza and while I've always preferred Gran Turismo there is no denying that Forza is fantastic. It is a little disappointing that they have cut a lot of content, and I'm not really sure how the "drivatar" thing will really work when everyone gets the game (especially since it is a launch title) but overall it looks like a Forza game and I'm sure I'll love it. I'm anticipating GT6 more just because I prefer that series but I'll definitely be heading over my buddies house and getting my fill of Forza too.
