So, had another go at the demo today. I finally could get the volume turned up, and oh boy how sound has improved. Like with graphics or physics, there is no single huge change - but now it's just so polished, so full of detail, that it feels like it's a massive improvement.
Also, I found out that during my run yesterday the Drivatars were set at the minimum difficulty. Set it as Pro (actually tried Unbeatable, and yeah, they're not kidding when they say the Drivatars will humiliate you - they were setting LB times at each lap!). The Drivatars provided more than a decent challenge this round, showing some good defensive and offensive driving skills, and an ability to avoid collisions even at full race speeds that left me quite amazed. Their skills in the rain are still a bit lackluster, but they WILL catch your draft and overtake you without a problem - had a nice climb to 1st place in the Indy Showdown which culminated in a battle for the victory between me and the lead car that lasted two laps and involved a couple of overtakes.
Had my first taste of rain, too, and let me tell you: physics-wise, it was worth to wait ten years. Also, the graphic rendition of rain is very solid, although that's a given with baked rain.
Finally, a word on assists: in the past driving with the TCS or the ABS on felt like a hindrance for the experienced driver, and I always kept all assists turned off in Forza; while in other games, like Gran Turismo, I turned them on to bring the car as close as possible to having what is in its assists package IRL. After having significant problems controlling the Ford GT around Rio, experiencing horrible brake lock at every turn, I decided to give Forza assists another try, and... Yeah. They work as they should, now.
