BTW, Wolfe how would you rate the game overall compared to H1? I checked out some user reviews on Metacritic, and some had not so great things to say about the X360 version... saying how SD couldn't life up to PG's standards of visuals and physics? What's your take? Are the sounds as good or better?
It's apparent that Sumo Digital had to squeeze the game onto the XB360, but it's a worthy successor to FH1. There are some bugs and rough edges, like grassy hills where your car appears to sink into the ground. On the other hand, FH1 had similar buggy things ("lowrider" parking lots, that gap in the barrier south of the festival). The game will obviously look bad compared to FH2-One, but I think it's close to the standard set by FH1. I find France and Italy more attractive than Colorado was. Excessive grip makes the physics difficult to assess, but in weight transfer and oversteer maneuvers, cars have more appropriate mass/inertia now. Of the cars I've heard, engine audio is at least on par with FH1.

Is there any advantage to using a rally car or truck for off-road use/events? I picked the BMW Z4 to start and didn't change to another car until after level 13-14. I don't think I should be able to drive at break-neck speeds off-road in a Z4, but FH 2 is fun for a change of pace.

Anyone else pre-order the day one version from the Microsoft store (the disk, not the download)? I still haven't received the $10 gift card or the Audi RS 4 Avant. I'm waiting for the gift card to buy the $9.99 VIP.

The only advantage I've seen for off road cars is when using a bigger offroad, such as Rubicon, Ram Runner etc is you can see better.

I can drive an Aventador through a field with the same success as my WRX, but it feels wrong!

Even though it's a game, I still cringe when my Maserari crashes through a fence @ 127mph!

Sound's on par.. great.

Handling model has been tweaked... good stuff.

I don't care much for the X1 version. If it looks as good as Horizon 1, I'm sold. H1 is a stunner, now that I've spent time with it.

If it's coming from you, and I know you know your Horizon.. it's good enough for me. Picking it up as soon as I can.

How's the whole sim vs normal steering feel this time around? Like you, I play with a controller only, and I must admit there are times I prefer normal. Sim can feel wierd.

I don't think PG is ever getting serious about having proper damage in the game with real consequences. Saw some vids... and again Horizon cars have that magical power where they just drive traffic (no matter how big or small) out of their way like runaway locomotives!

I'm just 1 road away from finding them all & I'm utterly lost. This was one of the more annoying things in TDU & I'm reliving it again.

I read Barn Finds were supposed to be up around Level 7 as well, but I'm 19 & I haven't gotten notifications of any. I'm betting it has more to do with the story as I've only just gotten to Nice.

There I was, just minding my own business, running down a dirt track on a hillside in my Escort RS1800, as you do, when the rain started bucketing down.

I am going to have so much fun with photo mode in this game.

Until I started taking artsy scenic shots and the Castelletto pano, I didn't feel I had taken much care in photomode, because I was stopping to take shots all the time.

Hey guys quick question. Did they fix the online livery problem from FH1 in FH2?
You're probably asking about FH2-One, but just for reference for others, they have not fixed this for the XB360 version as far as I can tell. There's also a new Online Free Roam bug that mutes your engine audio if you swap cars, but you can fix it by entering and exiting a Bucket List challenge.

So far I've only tried Simulation steering long enough to confirm that it doesn't alter grip/handling. I'm sure it's the same as always.

My last two were little nubs on the map that marked the entrances to a festival hub and the industrial park. I would try the festival hubs and Infected/King arenas.

I'll give that try tomorrow, then. I'm thinking it could also be the Car Meet locations I haven't unlocked as well (I found one & it reloaded me back to the road similar to how the demo did).

@CAMAROBOY69 I think I encountered that controller glitch, but it's not when changing the batteries as I haven't had o yet, but if I'm idle and my controller disconnects itself it freezes when I turn the controller back on. I can't just turn the Xbox off and on because it doesn't fix it, I have to force restart the Xbox
Yup anything that involves the controller shutting off or disconnecting, will cause the game or the controller to freeze. Well known issue with this game.

I won quite a few more cars over the weekend with the wheel spins. :D

I also came up with an excellent name for our club over the weekend. Its called DRUNK DESIGNATED DRIVERS.

The fact that you can put a 6.2L TT V8 into a Willy Jeep is pretty ridiculous. Awesome, but still ridiculous. With 900+hp that thing is crazy.

It's great for head to head races against Pro Drivatars in freeroam... Just ignore the route set by Anna, point the car at the destination and offroad everything.

I dunno... a couple of head-on collisions in freeroam and my car is stuck limping along at 30/40mph - it'd take ages to get to the nearest garage or hub without fast travel.

I've taken to turning damage off in freeroam and saving it for the races where it can actually net me some more points.

Meanwhile I've entered a 2002 Skyline GT-R in the JDM icons championship and it seems to be beating the other unbeatable AI cars comfortably on both tarmac and grass. In some of the other categories I've tried, the drivatars seem to have a lot more grip offroad even whhen I suspension swap my car for AWD.

It's good there is mechanical damage this time around, although correct me if I'm wrong.. I believe it's been taken out of the X360 version.

Let me reiterate: proper crash physics need to be in the Horizon games, not just damage. Cars going off cliffs.. crashing through gates, getting totaled against large trees or barriers, bouncing off a larger traffic vechile, catching air.. flipping over multiple times while parts fly off... THAT kind of damage. Damage that obeys laws of physics and has potentially terrifying consequences.

I think you can still get away with bouncing off other cars and walls to win races. Why is it that Horizon cars weight over 2 tonnes and traffic vehicles weigh around 500 kilos when there's a collision?

I know the game's casual open road racing fun.. but it really would not hurt to have proper crash physics. Doesn't have to be full blown sim, but the collisions should at least look realistic.. with equally bad consequences in case you get funny ideas.

Which reminds me, is anyone else getting "Hang time" and "Epic Finish" game clips automatically recorded by their Xbox One DVR? Weird.
Its going to do that and there is no way to disable it, I also get recordings for drifting alot. Battlefield 4 records a clip every single time you level up, or do some other feats.

Fog??? I haven't seen fog in this game yet!
I can't listen to the DF video as I'm in a noisy pub posting this. Guessing this is a gag about the draw distance on 360? Me dumb.

It's not. The guy says, at 2:28 that one of the weather conditions in this game is fog along with sunshine and rain. I.. haven't seen fog yet.
