this is irrelevant because Other games manage to not charge players a second time for content. Forza, being bankrolled by Microsoft, has the least excuse to do this of them all, and yet it's the one racer that does it. At this point it becomes an obsession for cash over simply getting by.

So cost/time of development is not an excuse because it's Microsoft and some other company was able to go from last gen to next gen without charging extra money? The last time I checked, The Last of Us and GTA V on next gen consoles cost full MSRP. They're the same game, so shouldn't they be free?

It should be full price. It's a game copy, you may as well say ps3 copies should be free. And lots of people never had the last gen version.

Ok, you lost me. Charging twice for the same thing is ok as long as you didn't opt to buy it in the first place. If you buy it twice, it is now the fault of the developer?

You're twisting the principle. A remastered version of a game is the same game, just a different console. So if you have it on the ps3, that's your copy. If you have it on the ps4, that's your copy. If you want it on a different console, you buy another copy. In fact there probably should be a discount for ps3 owners. Personally, I have TLOU on ps4, as I never owned the ps3 version, so I payed the normal price for a game I've never owned before. That's normal.

This is game copies, though. Once you have one, you most certainly do not expect to be repeatedly paying for the content within.

A remastered version of an asset is the same asset, just in a different game. So if you have it on FH1, that's your copy. If you have it on FH2, that's your copy. If you want it on a different game, you buy the DLC.

So how are my changes above any different? I'm not trying to be difficult, but what you said makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Don't get me wrong, I think DLC practices have gotten out of hand, but understanding both the development and business world, I know it's not a black and white issue.

Every time I pay for a new iteration of a game series, I pay each time for the copy. So, by buying this new copy, I've payed for stuff from the last game ( should it make the cut), and new stuff to be included. To be asked to make a second payment (dlc) for something I've already payed for again (because it was in a previous game) is not okay. The payment I make when I buy the game is sufficient to earn back the cars that were previously available, without further charge. If content doesn't return to the next version, it's actually not a huge problem, but to be asked to pay for it again (again) is a problem.

Something that's commonly forgot about fm5 is that a lot of cars did make it back without additional charge. Why should the cars completed after game release be any different?

But you just said that you are ok buying the exact same content twice simply because it's on a new system. That is the exact same scenario as this DLC.

Okay, I DON'T care about the DLC since I won't be getting it anyway...

But that last group shot was fantastic. I know the X360 version is going to do the hardware justice, just like the first Horizon, which I'm too busy enjoying.. squeezing every ounce of gameplay out of it. :D

Horizon 2 is not the same as Horizon 1. That's like saying Liberty City Stories is the same as Vice City stories. Not ported, it is a complete ground up game for the Xbox One. Completely better detailed map, cars, just, well, everything.

GTAV is a remaster, yes, but not a port. Many, many different things. The supposed first person view is something very, very big for the franchise.

I'm not sure about how TLOU includes the DLC (perhaps @Daniel can shed some light on this), but as with GTAV it is a remastered game, but with all of the DLC on the disk from day one.

A remaster and a sequel are two completely different things...

End of. Those are the facts. Deal with it.
 
Just because a car was in a previous game, doesn't mean that it'll automatically be included in the next one for free. That's called a "false sense of entitlement."
 
They're supposed to update the old cars for free? It's not like they're essential. As long as they don't start charging for new versions of old tracks it's okay with me. It's not like they're going to delay the game until all the old assets are converted over.

Last time I missed out on the season pass and ended up spending more than it cost on DLC cars without getting them all. This time I'm paying a one off cost to get all the remastered cars old and new. Hopefully this will encourage the developers that not sticking in undeclared assets from previous generations was the right way to go.

I'm watching that Gamespot video and asking myself, what's the incentive to drive on the road, other than RPing?
