Is it backwards compatible yet? It really ought to be.

Considering MS has done their very best to bury that series and pretend only Forza ever existed, I don't have high hopes for it to suddenly reappear.

Activision bought Bizarre, but Microsoft still holds all the rights to the PGR series, which it often seems like they acquired in order to put out of business.
After PGR2, the MS Porsche sub-license was lifted from PGR and transferred to Forza. All DLC for both PGR 3 & 4 was delisted years ago, and the franchise never gets mentioned officially, not even in a nostalgic way.

Yeah, the Escort 1600 is awesome but I simply adore the detail in the sound from the Fiesta XR2! It has a "dirty" sound, it pops and crackles, has more detail than typical Forza sounds.

I just tried it! Oh wow... you are right! I makes you want to keep on the gas  It's so funny how often these little regular cars are much more enjoyable than hypercars.

Oh I'm well aware of that. My problem with it is Bizarre is no more because of Activision (all because the first game published under them didn't meet expectations) thus ridding the possibility of a spiritual successor, hence the (not really) joke.

Onto your point I can see the logic behind it from a business perspective: PGR would clash with Horizon so heavily the two of them would be competing with each other. Needless to say, that wouldn't be the best thing for the parties involved.

I find the quality/accuracy of the audio in this game to be extremely inconsistent. Some cars sound spot on correct, but many of them sound overly dramatic and even poor quality. Nealy every cross-plane V8 in the game sounds like open-header drag missile, which kind of ruins them for me. Most of the inline-4 engines sound pretty generic & bad too, with the exception of the Miatas (and some mentioned above) which all sound pretty well-detailed and high-fidelity.

I feel like Turn 10 has not made notable improvements (in some cases it feels like it's regressing) to sound since FM2. (I have not played FM6, so I cannot comment). The sound game has moved on with Codemaster's rich, gorgeous samples & PDs more technical approach which has made great strides (911 GT3 in GT-S sounds better than FH3 in my opinion, apart from the gear shift nonsense) recently. FH3 feels stuck in the 360 era, which is especially jarring next to the stunning visuals.

This is not a T10 issue, but rather a core one with PG. T10's car sounds have been fairly consistent between FM2 and 6, given some minor missteps here and there. You should play both FM5 and 6 - some of the best car sounds there and many are consistent if not all. Horizon 3 is the first in the PG game franchise to have done sound like this. Car sounds were nicely varied in Horizon 1 and 2. I'm not sure if the issue stems from a lack of motivation or change in staff but it definitely stirred up a storm at the official forums as well.

Oh gosh, won't it be a treat if it does? Current gen truly deserves a PGR reboot. Knowing MS though...mehh!

Did a sound comparison for the Carrera GT when it came out last week between Forza Horizon 3 and the original Need For Speed Most Wanted (which has the best CGT sound of any game I've played)

IMO Most Wanted has a slightly better sound for the CGT but the FH3 sound isn't far behind.

Both cars were completely stock.

I've just recorded the new sounds for the Wrangler and Pacer, if anyone want to take a look. (just noticed that I should've recorded the same cars before too :banghead: but I have a video for the Pacer.

Jeep Wrangler (sounds very VR6ish now :odd: but yeah, its kinda cool)

AMC Pacer (new sound)

AMC Pacer (before, sounding like a V8 - the game car it's the inline 6)
