Honestly I wonder what that would look like. A return to FH4's system, which relied on Playlist completion percentage? Like, what exactly would you need to overhaul in FH5's system?
I don't think how you score the playlist is what needs to change, more so what the playlist contains. That could be anything, new events types, new stories, new championship formats, better themed content... Maybe the playlist will be less prescriptive, and people could have a lot wider choices in what events and what cars to do/use to earn points. Hopefully it's major change.

That's more in the direction I'm hoping for, yeah. Bring back Seasonal EventLab, maybe make rewards for Daily and Weekly Challenges sweeter (though Weekly Challenges are already doing this with 150,000 CR a pop). Bringing back Exclusive Rewards for the Seasonal Championships might be a good play too, but I also think... the only reason this is an issue is because Series History Rewards are a thing now so they're encouraging people to actually PLAY the Playlists all the way through instead of hopping on for ten, fifteen minutes a week like they were at the end of FH5, and that's exposing a lot of the mechanic's faults.

IDK but Horizon seems not paying too much attention to active aero part accuracy. I saw a video on YouTube comparing the 296 GTB model (actually exhaust notes) from Gran Turimso 7, The Crew Motorfest, and Forza Horizon 6. The other two have the retractable spoiler thing for the 296 where Forza somehow doesn't. Not only 296 GTB, the SF90 Stradale, LaFerrari, Evija, and some other models also lack accurate, real-world active aero parts.

Shame, those are exactly the kind of details that make me use chase cam every now and then.

As a sandbox FH6 is pretty great. So much potential for cool racing scenarios if only the developers would dare. Or maybe we’re the weirdos and most people want more of exactly the same.

I'm okay with the change, personally. I only ever do the Playlist to get a car I want, and I just stop playing it once I've gotten that car. If it's a car I'm not interested in, I tend to not even bother that week.

I do think that lowering the points requirements could be a way to get more people to do the Playlist, though. Take this week, for example: I don't really care about the Holden and since it takes 20 points to get it I haven't even bothered. If I know it's going to take me less time to get the car, though, I'd probably give it a shot.

Honestly, in terms of the time required, it makes absolutely no difference whether you need 15 points instead of 20, or 30 instead of 40; at most, we’re talking about a difference of just a few MINUTES of gameplay per WEEK. The only truly significant difference is for players who cannot or do not wish to participate in online competitions—they are no longer dependent on them.

True, but the free time I have to play is extremely limited. It sucks, but if I only have 30 minutes to play after working and taking care of all my other responsibilities, I have to choose what I do in the game wisely. I don't want to spend my time grinding for a car I don't really want.

And I know my situation is far from universal, but I don't see the harm in lowering the requirements. If you enjoy the Playlist there's nothing keeping you from playing it all the way through, but for those of us with extremely limited time it makes everything easier. Just my .02.

But if you don’t want a car anyway, what difference does it make whether you’d need 15 or 20 points to get one?

That said, although I usually play the full playlist, I have no problems with requirements being lowered and I’m happy for all the purely offline players that they’ll now miss out on less.

torben tuesday is back

I hope this means we'll see a return of Torben Tuesdays. They were always a bit of fun.

As for the "Major festival playlist change" - perhaps we'll see them adopt a similar system to the Crew Motorfest - where all the reward cars are added to the Prestige Store at the conclusion of that update. Could use the Backstage system from FH4/FH5 (or a new system) but this would count as a major change and I think would be received very positively IMO.

Re-introducing community event labs into the playlist would be nice, but I don't think that would be a "major" change IMO. But we'll see.

Torben also said info is coming in "the coming weeks". Perhaps we'll see a mid series blog/Torben Tuesday before Series 8 comes along?

I could see the Series Rewards being used more aggressively. It’s a bit disappointing that you only get rewards at the current point totals because it’s not a “FOMO deterrent” but rather a multi month grind.

I thought it would be the kind of thing where you could see a former playlist car in there every 100 points or so.

Another major thing they could potentially offer is a way to select which playlist your points go towards. If you missed out on Series 1 you could go back and do it now etc.

I’m also sure Playground is aware that PS5 users will be 8 months behind on playlists, so whatever this change is going to be may address that.

This is an ideal change, IMO. Needing to do fewer events that are little more than a rehashed means to an end, is music to my ears.

Heck, they should have changed the point scoring criteria to events and skills you complete in free roam, so you unlock cars organically from just playing it.

I like that idea. Like get 10 near misses for said amount of points, or drive a total of 30 miles in a cult classic for 10 points, etc....

Edo is a bit tricky, not least for the Drivatars as some of the trickier corners completely flummoxed them. That hairpin towards the end is evil.

Honourable Torben-sama's nervous video appearances tend to look like someone is pointing an off-screen gun at his head so I'm glad his handlers momentarily let him off the leash long enough to make this brief papal address from the virtual balcony.

At least it gave us something to talk about on this thread and gave the redditors something new to complain about. I, however, won't be complaining if this heralds a new era of glasnost-style communication from the beleaguered dev team.

I think you meant Maxton Design 😉
Yeah, oops missed this one. It is indeed maxton design.

I don't know why they didn't mention this anywhere. But the Altezza and R33 may appear as aftermarket cars according to the text strings for Series 7
series 7.webp

They'll most likely spawn at Daikoku.

This surely would have been mentioned in the blog post. Just like the Furai was last month.

Maybe it was planned - and now with the upcoming playlist changes, it was scrapped?

Also, for anyone wondering - Edo Circuit was in a Spec Racing Championship I just played, so good to see the new tracks being integrated into Horizon Online. I don't believe this was mentioned in the patch notes.

Like... okay, here's what I wanna see out of the Playlist rework:

1) Bring back Seasonal EventLab and maybe Super7. Non-negotiable. Give more visibility to that side of the community, and reward us for checking out their work. That alone will help the Playlist start to feel fresher every week.
2) Make the Series History reward car requirements more lenient. As it is, Series History basically mandates that you 100% every single season in order to get the car 'on-time' with everyone else. The Espada was a 1200 point reward, and we'll be at about 1500 points when this next Series ends. Add some leeway by about a full Series or two--if the player has already exceeded the more lenient point requirement, then just hand that car out as a loyalty bonus when the update drops. This way, even with the Car Pass over, there's still free cars handed down every so often for even more casual players.
3) Add all Series 1 through 4 cars to the Autoshow. I'm missing the 2024 Camaro ZL1 and EVO Spyder 'cause I sold those off to buy some of the more expensive Autoshow cars and pick up the 037 I missed one week 'cause I was away from home, but those two should've been in the Autoshow from the beginning--especially since, for some reason, we're getting the Corolla SR5 again after it was just in the Playlist last Series. Series 5 and 6 can remain FOMO for now unless they reintroduce the Backstage Pass early.

If I were to want anything super major, it would probably just be an early Backstage Shop, something akin to Motorfest like folks are suggesting. I dunno how they'd be acquired, maybe make Backstage Passes MTX, but do SOMETHING to make the Year 1 FOMO cars less FOMO-ey.

Or better yet: every car from every previous series should be in the Autoshow, with those from the current and next ones available once the series has ended.

That way players have an incentive: to get the cars for free and earlier than others if they play through the Festival Playlist, but for those who don't, they still have to buy the car in question based on their retail price.

Here's what I think would be the ideal solution:
  1. All previous Festival Playlist rewards should be available to purchase in the Autoshow, and all cars will be sold at their retail price.
  2. Any new reward cars introduced in the current Series introduced in the update that eliminates all FOMO mechanics and future ones will be available in the Autoshow once the Series has ended.
  3. All previous Wheelspin-exclusive cars should be available to purchase in the Autoshow.
  4. Treasure Cars should become available for purchase in the Autoshow once discovered.
  5. Barn Finds should become available for purchase once restored.
  6. Cars won from Horizon Rush should become available for purchase once acquired.

Considering that this would result in there being virtually no rare or hard-to-obtain vehicles left—while simultaneously rendering the auction house redundant—it is safe to assume that this will never happen. Personally, I wouldn’t find that ideal or motivating, either.

Agree with that. There would be no reason to play the playlists, all people would do is just wait for the season to end and buy the cars at the autoshow.I think the wheelspin exclusive cars should also be available as aftermarket cars, maybe on a rotational basis like the legends car dealer in GT7.That way you are guaranteed to be able to purchase a rare car at some point. For example, the Nissan 240sx is a wheelspin car I have only won once and Merc clk-gtr is one ive never had in a wheelspin at all,I ended up buying one from the auction house way back.

That's why I say only Series 1-8 cars should be added to the Autoshow at first, yeah--that way the PS5 players can catch up most easily. Every other FOMO car can either be added as part of a Community Choice Series in the future or thrown into Backstage Pass when that comes around.

Really my biggest gripes with the Playlist as it is now are the Series History Rewards requiring too much commitment from the player and the lack of community challenges like Seasonal EventLab. Cutting point requirements for Playlist reward cars is a good step in my opinion but the Playlist in general should be more engaging on top of that if Series History is supposed to be the big gimmick.

Very pleased to have another chance on the Starlet and Golf Rallye, as I can do different things with them than the two I have. I fancy the 98/99 Corolla WRC livery for the Starlet, and maybe something sporty on the Golf this time.

AFAIK it's still not confirmed that these two cars will actually be available at the Aftermarket.

Edit: This is nonsense and I was just confused.

I thought they were 30 point cars in their respective week? And the Skyline and the Altezza were the rumours?
