Everyone saying Japan is amazing, progression is improved, UI is cleaner. Odd.
What's interesting to me is that you can see that the reviewer has an internal conflict.

While they think the game is executed "masterfully" and recommend it, they also wish PGG had experimented more. It seems like they'd give it a 90+ if scoring on what the game actually is and does, but give it a 50 based on what they wish it would try to do differently (even though they never specifically say what that is).

Hence they score it a 70 to balance out the two. At least that's my amateur opinion after having taken an introductory psychology class 40 years ago...

I'm really pleasantly surprised. No crashes or server issues so far. My and my friend have been co oping for hours now without a hitch.

The game looks great and sounds even better. It's a shame my 2070 Super can't push settings too hard.

Also glad to report that the Vulcan sounds fabulous.

There is always that one guy. The fact that the summary of the review has factually false statements in it and even has spelling mistakes... well... it speaks volumes.

Literally exclaims in the summary that this is one of the best arcade racers you can find and "executes so masterfully" but is somehow a 7/10.

Reminds me of IGN's too much water review.

This is why I completely ignore reviews nowadays.
In fairness to Steam, their approach is the sensible one and it's MS who should change to everyone getting access at the same time. It doesn't make any sense for people in some countries to have a competitive advantage for getting legendary tuner/painter status by getting their tunes/liveries up first.

If getting access to an arcade game 16 hours after someone in New Zealand for a game that will be around for many years to come is too much of a disadvantage... I don't know what to tell you.

In other words, they got run over by their own hype train and somehow it's the developer's fault for not knowing what exact cherry picked list of features they had been dreaming of for the last year or two.

This happens with every hugely anticipated game release, the first 48 hours are when the buyer's remorse sets in and people need to justify it. It's also why I tend to ignore user reviews for the first month of a game's life unless they're specifically calling out major technical problems.

I don't think you understand how getting legendary status works. The meta is to flood the game with low quality tunes and liveries as early as possible. They get early downloads, which makes them more visible, which makes it impossible for others to catch up in those years to come, at least not without an absurd amount of work compared to the ease of spamming them on release.

I have been watching some gameplay videos today mainly Gameriot and to me it looks to be fun. Being that I am still playing FH5 I can see some similarities between the two but FH6 seems to be an improvement on 5. I like not having to hit the boards for the fast travel and that is it available from the jump. I am loving the aftermarket cars. From what I have seen so far it seems kinda empty as far as traffic but that might just be early on. I actually someone do the last mission to get to Legend island and it was good is all I'm going to say. TBH even though I am excited to play 6 I can wait for it to come the PS5. I think I will get the Ultimate version whenever it comes out so I got some time to set aside the money for it. I can't wait to see what folks come up with in the Event Lab. I expect to see quite a few Initial D stages and maybe a few Tokyo Drift events. Heck we might even see some Best Motoring. Anyway I sincerely hope everyone enjoys the game because I know I will when I get the chance to play

If you are in the Xbox controller and feel the controls a bit sluggish, go to advanced controller settings and put everything at 0/100 value (throttle, brakes, etc.) but leave steering linearity at 50. You'll notice the difference.

I will be honest of my ignorance but it seems a but outrageous that a 16 hour advantage would be so insane.

I had to choose the GMC Jimmy, too outrageous not to. Lol

Looks fantastic on my 77" QD OLED. I'm running it on my PC maxed out settings hooked up to my TV.

Played for 1 hour and a half or so, XSS+LG TV, performance.mode. First impressions:
1. The panoramic view on the GMC Jimmy is kinda funny - ends in the passenger seat view...
2. Full steering wheel rotation - 900 degrees! Not bad.
3. FXX-K Evo now has functional air brake and proper rear spoiler animation.
4. You can now have upgraded suspension AND rear wheel steering working at the same time (in my case S15 Silvia)! Nice to see.
5. At the end of the brake travel when you slam hard on the brakes there's this squeezy noise. New detail is always welcomed.
6. Biggest of them all - consistent tire/wheel spin animation instead of the two-stage one in previous titles (static and up-to-speed). Love it.

Any info on how we can "replay" past festival playlists?

Did the devs mention the possibility of Festival Playlist cars appearing as aftermarket cars?

I remember that they mentioned that there's a possibility of past playlists becoming replayable, and the "Series History" reward in the achievements.
For the official article:
Forza Horizon 6 also introduces unique secondary rewards to the Festival Playlist. Series History Rewards includes exclusive cars that are unlocked based on the lifetime Playlist Points that you have obtained from playing the game.

So, it's not a way of replaying them it seems, but rather based on lifetime Playlist Points.

I think they mentioned they are looking into ways for festival playlist cars to be obtained this way.

Also, I saw that there are certain cars locked only to the Festival playlist, can someone confirm that? And I mean cars that are on the official car list.
Festival Playlist has always contained cars you can't get in the Autoshow.

Unfortunately I'm getting a "something went wrong" error. In the meantime, how do you like it? Are there any significant improvements that haven't been touched on much in the reviews?
For the painters: https://www.xbox.com/play/media/jZZnGt5NhT

  • Shapes are the same as usual.
  • Layer counts are unchanged.
  • 1000 layers per window.
  • Side windows are a single plane.
  • Logos are the same as usual but there’s lots of new ones in there, some unlockable.
I’ve not done anything today other than file management as I have 400 logos to sort before I start painting/driving.

Just seven hours to go. I’m going to finish up my last tour of Mexico, then head out and get a lot of Trolli candy receipts and snacks. The only break I plan on, other than for sleep and bodily necessities, is Sunday for the Indy 500.
I've sufficiently prepped my kids so they know I'll be on the TV anytime I'm home & awake, starting in about 6 hours.
.... but even though I've mentioned it a few times around her, I'm not sure Mrs. ykiki truly understands the gravity of the situation 🫣

Oh, and yes, I'll also set aside some time for Indy 500 qualifying this weekend........ maybe

I just saw the cars for the first 2 playlists and carpass lineup until july 9

I know i am sounding like a broken record at this point, but the lack of modern kei cars is absolutly criminal
The problem of just hear the forums feedback area is exactly what im seeting right now: only 90´s JDM with some 50s-80s and post 90s sports cars. if you are lucky

i am pretty sure that this why they are focusing on those cars, beacuse if you ask to avg "JDM Fan" what a Honda N-One is or what a Nissan Sakura is they will have no idea what it is

The most intresting of this all, is that 90% of Japan dont even races with those cars, you know what type of cars are their weekenders? Honda N-Ones, Honda S660s, Honda Fit, boxy cars like Nissan Sakura, they dont race in suzuka or tsukuba with Toyota Altezzas outside of very niche drift cicles, but since those drift ctcles are popular in instagram or youtube, people think that japan is all Nissan GT-R Skylines and Toyota Altezza everywhere

just as reference, here are the class cars for the new Super Taikyo Challenge aimed in grassroots racing:
SC-N (HONDA N-ONE), SC-R (Mazda Roadster MX-5), SC-Y (Toyota non-GR Yaris), and SC-V (Toyota Vitz)
of those, only the MX-5 is popular with so called "overseas JDM cycles" and evem so the 90s version not the new one constantly used for racing across the world, if you ask about non-regular yaris, they will only remember the bouncy yaris meme (that ironically is also a huge miss into the game, specially since this had became a meme in Japan as well) before remembers that Yaris has a non Rally daily-focused model

i dont blame it on licencing, beacuse even without suzuki, PG could manage get some from toyota, nissan and even mitsubushi, they maneged get the Toyota JPN Taxi for Forza´s sake, get a even more popular car into the game would be piece of cake

the decision only clearly happenned based of the fact 90% of the people in car community only care about 90´s nars, cars that arent sold for around 30 years already, again, ask your avg JDM weeb fan about what a Toyota Sienta or a Daihatsu Move is? they will have no freaking idea what iam talking about

how the hell the closeset car from it isnt even Japanese? its Chinese and from the game before it, how you fumble this so bad?

You know, people in the Gran Turismo side of forum tend trash Kaz for "pick trash cars for updates insted pick cars that community wants", but, funnly enough, he manages to get a good resume of what car industry past-present is, specially the best in modern cars (Hello Xiaomi Car), its about time for the car community overall accept that some modern cars are great too and a important part of keep car culture in the future is accept new models for the culture, even if you dont like the new crossover in the market or thinks that a 60hp small box is a waste of money, we cant depend of stupod nostalgia forever beacuse 1990s cars wont last forever

as for me, Im thankfuly that the creative side of the game is more enough for me to provide me some fun time before some actual modern JDM cars shows up, beacuse otherwise it would had been my Forza first launch skip since FH3

Maybe I missed the conversation about this, but here's some more info on the playlist history rewards from the new article:

With the Festival Playlist, there’s always new events to play and exciting rewards to obtain, so be sure to check it out once you’ve earned your place at the Horizon Festival! These will include The Trial, which will be available for Horizon Legends starting in Series 2. We made the decision to not include any Trial events in Series 1 to avoid placing any pressure on players to rush through earning the final Wristband in the game.

I agree that some modern kei cars would be fantastic, but the game has only been out for like 9 hours at this point and will be supported with regular content updates for probably the next 3 years. It makes sense that they're going to launch with a 'greatest hits' collection before slowly releasing some of the more obscure stuff for us fanboys. I promise it'll be okay.

One thing I would like to see them add in the future is some info about the cars. They have all of these obscure cars and some body like me loves the know about the car. That is one thing I love about GT and wish PG would copy that idea. Anyway that's just me. I guess I can always find the info myself 🤷🏿‍♂️

The NFS game whose handling I was whinging about upthread also had a neat voiceover on the car selection screen (with what admittedly sounded mostly like rewritten marketing copy).

Talking of voiceovers Mei's dialogue on the Tokyo tour gave a brief history of the Honda Civic you drive so it's a nod in that direction but I imagine it'd be hard to duplicate for a thousand cars or even a sizeable percentage thereof if you don't have eight years in which to develop your game.

Whew -- best of luck with that task, and I can't wait to see what you come up with this time.

As for the Playlist, I feel like I may have to avoid the Trial as much as possible this early in the game. Hopefully they've rebalanced the point rewards for each event so I don't have to worry about trying to get ten points by hoping my teammates aren't the type to PIT maneuver me directly out of the immediate path to the next checkpoint.
