On holiday? It could be taking annual leaf from the game. I imagine it would enjoy a good train based holiday, taking all the best branch lines.

I'll get me coat.....
I would've thought they'd be more likely to take the Shinkansen when embarking upon their winter migration. It's a more direct root.
The literal translation of Shinkansen - which means the lines, rather than the trains or service - is, amusingly, "new trunk line".

Anyway, all these cherry blossom puns can get in a sack. UR a bunch of clowns.

That's the trouble with these puns being sporadic, it's either feast or Famine.
Frequently both, unfortunately. It's definitely time to make like a tree and get outta here, McFly.
Humour is one of my strengths.
C'mon, now, that was one of the biggest laughs I've had all day.

Anyway, today's plan involves taking this ridiculously overpowered little van out to attempt to smash my friends' S1/800 Rivals times (although maybe not the world records) on the time attack tracks.

I wish we had a few more TAs; it's definitely a great addition to the Horizon workflow. After this I'm going to check out some of those CoLab tracks @Johnny Caisse was raving about earlier. The Stadium Circuit one was a lot of fun even if everything looked a bit Minecraft.

I'm sick and tired of these PR stunts. I've tried. I've really tried. But for most of them, two stars is all I can do. I give up. I'm not wasting my time with these anymore.

Man your rivals times have been a lot of fun to try and beat. I mostly fail

A lot of tracks seem to be default tracks but when you find a customized one they tend to be fun.

the trick is to use the fastest car u have. MX5 FE is the best choice or AE86 FE
That's not fun, in my opinion.

For the dirt PR Stunts, You've got all these rally cars, but they're practically useless for the speed zones and speed traps, because they expect you to use one of the "Meta cars"

In the next game, I'd rather they put in something similar to what they do with seasonal PR Stunts, where they say: "to get three stars, set this speed in this class and car type" - Because that inspires you to try out a car that you might not have tried.

First time ever I read a 25 (?) year old human write something like that.

Anyways, back to business:
I wish we had a few more TAs; it's definitely a great addition to the Horizon workflow.
At first I read it as TA cars, for which we have plenty, but yes, can't complain on having more TA tracks - a longer FIA Grade 1-ish track could be cool. I bet DLC packs will have at least one new (if they are new, separate maps as usual), but I wonder if the Stadium can have a temporary TA track as a seasonal event (FH5 did it already!). There is only one single dirt TA track on the map, which I find odd.

It's one thing to create top notch tracks with brilliantly created assets which many of the user created tracks have maged to pull off so far. However, creating a course in which the AI doesn't become hopelessly entangled is unfortunately another matter, as with the oval track I just tried which was fun for me but not for bowie knife99 and his chums. You can't park there, mate.

You're welcome to challenge yourself with different car/track combinations but I think it's a bit unfair to expect the game to hamper everyone else's progression by setting artificial restrictions. Sometimes the fastest car around a particular track is a matter of performance and skill, not tricking the system.

What might suit your scenario better is having leaderboards for individual vehicles, but I don't think PG are going to use up time and resources on creating these for every car in the roster.

For the previous game @Obelisk set up a Car Of The Week thread in which forum members highlighted individual cars in which people set times against each other around specified tracks. Perhaps something like that would be closer to what you're asking for rather than expecting the devs to nerf progression for the entire playerbase.

The weekly playlist seems to do an okay job at trying to get people to use roster choices they might otherwise not have picked. But for me withholding stars from players if they don't use a non-optimal car brings back uncomfortable memories of GT5's Samba van challenge on comfort tyres which I seem to recall a lot of players complaining about on the forum at the time.

Aye, that I did. I miss running the thread, but I've had to decide against opening a new one because the shape of my life right now would lead to schedule slip. Still happy to see that people remember my efforts!

I doubt I'd have the patience and dedication to set one of those up, let alone the automotive knowledge to write a detailed article on each car. Much appreciated.

No, I don't think it's unfair. All I want is it to be reasonable. I want the drift zones to be based on actual drift cars, and to be of reasonable difficulty, the dirt speed traps to be based on rally cars, and to be of reasonable difficulty, etc.

That's not unreasonable.

Unreasonable is expecting the player to have meta cars, and only use them, because the stunts are designed with them in mind (Either on purpose, or unintentionally)

I kind of agree with you. While I don't completely hate having to build some insane 3k horsepower Koenigsegg on dirt tires specifically to get some of these speed traps, I personally would get greater enjoyment from having to do it in the same car as everybody else.

Thanks. I must've had a complete brainfart as I've received several of these in the past.

Is anyone really stopping you from doing this in the game though? I'm pretty sure the playlist restricts you to doing PR stunts in specified car classes but are they really undoable in "ordinary" cars? A glance at the leaderboards for the PR stunts reveals a wide selection of cars being used to score three-star level times so I'm not sure where this "meta" complaint is coming from.

It'd be a real shame for me for everyone to be forced to use only "drift" cars to do the zones. They were hard enough for me to do in the Abarth 595 which was B-class tuned and hardly "overpowered". The last thing I'd want is for progression to be gated off by restricting the game even further.

Horizon has always been about modifying whichever car you want to do the job. The Forza Edition cars in this game which repurpose a BRZ into a monster truck, a dinky MX-5 saloon into a speed monster and a Dodge Viper muscle car into an off-road cross country car epitomise this approach.

The alternative would be to say that the pile of OP specialised cars the game drops on you at the start of the game (for VIPs at least) are useless to you because these are econobox challenges only.

That's not meta, that's making me feel like the Time Attack pack I spent money on (for example) had an actual purpose in the game besides just adding to my car count.

To add further fuel to the fire:

I discovered most of the cars in this list (or at least the ones I could afford) on my own by experimenting and using my knowledge from FH5. I didn't need a YouTuber to tell me to use them because they were "meta" because the choice of car you use to do anything in the game is completely up to the player.
