Nice thread layout.

I'm doing my best to temper expectations though. T10s track record isn't spotless and XB1 really doesn't look like a console I would buy at the moment.

👍 looking nice, but judging by these forums, it wont be long till this gets derailed.

I would say the trailer is probably game play just because you can still make out polygon edges and demo movies are usually perfect. The graphics are way beyond current consoles but aren't really jaw dropping for next generation hardware considering how much graphics and computing power has advanced. To be honest I was actually expecting even better visuals considering what the PC is capable of at 1080p resolutions.

I think the biggest deal is lighting. Proper lighting gives a game a great name. I think that T10 will deliver even if the console is weaker than the higher end PC's. Don't forget. Turn 10 will have to get used to the architecture of the Xbox One.

Remember this?
Forza 2

Now we are at this. The game looks better in motion.

Forza 4

Turn 10 has the models and the resources. They weren't able to use them to their full potential.

Looks like it was made on PsOne engine. Horrible.

^Random Google image.

Both games have questionable visuals at time, both look great most of the time though.

This is also how FM4 looks most of the time.

^Unedited pic by me.

Poorly adjusted lightning and AA.

PSOne engine? There is no such thing.

And do you remember what PSX visuals look like? Your comment seems to suggest that you don't.

For disliking a game? No.

Regardless of how empty the statements are, opinions are opinions so long as they remain within the AUP.

@Justin lol! Do you have GT5? To be honest that first photo you've posted, that car is updated in the game.

I'm well aware of that, the fact still remains that it shipped like that and no amount of updates can change that fact. I also feel that picture is symbolic of PD's seeming loss of focus.

Well I understand.. It just seems like these forums are being bloated more and more with useless posts. :indiff:

Sad to see this thread already turning for the worst. I find it funny that I post comparing FM2 with FM4 and all of a sudden people feel the need to just argue.

Just a reminder: This is not a thread for 'Wishlists' or 'FM5 vs'. This is made purely for the sake of organized discussion of FM5 game.

Well, there's a simple way around that: ignore the posts, report them (but only if necessary) and don't let it drag the thread down.

There are going to be outlandish comments (such as the one above) that you'll reply to every once in a while but as long as you attack the point and not the person, it's still going to be fine.

and it looks so much better after the "update", along with 800 others

True, but there are some that still look bad though, the Diablo for one is just horrible still. :\

I know right? I didn't even noticed that when playing GT5 for the first time. That was just disappointing imo.

Man.. I guess ImaRobot was right. T12, can you start banning these shallow FM haters?

I knew it was going to happen, I just didnt expect it in the first 10 posts lol.

Hopefully these two weeks go by pretty fast. I'm hoping they show something of the photomode then. Would like to see what they kept the same, and if they changed anything with it. Looking at the photo's that have been getting around, I hope that says something about it.

Yeah, when I go on my trips I hope I will be back in time for E3.

Photomode was alright in FM4, the bloom/glare was just frustrating and it made it hard to get highly exposed realistic photos.

I also hope that I can take realistic photos like this.

I tried to replicate the lighting and environment. Photoshop had to be used for the cold colors.

Turn 10 should be able to let us loose in terms of freedom on the track in photomode. That's one thing that keeps us held back from taking realistic photos. I think the quality of the environments will be increased a-lot. Also, the angles we get in the Y & Z axis aren't the best. You can't go all the way down to the track's surface to capture the front bumper of a car or say a tire.

I updated the OP with this video if you guys are interested.

At 5:01 the design team member mentions FM5 and the triggers of the Xbox One controller.

A tid bit regarding audio.

Firelight Technologies today announced that its cutting edge audio technology has been optimized to support Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft

The high performance processor and dedicated Scalable Hardware Audio Processing Engine (SHAPE) is fully utilized by FMOD Studio to deliver next generation audio for the next generation of games. Authorized Xbox One developers and publishers can download an evaluation today.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Turn 10 on the Forza Motorsport franchise for Xbox One. They’re really pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in game audio.” said Raymond Biggs, lead developer for FMOD Studio. “They’re doing things in Forza Motorsport 5 that just weren’t possible with the last generation of consoles and audio tools. I know gamers are going to be blown away.”

I find it curious that he said, "brake fade" instead of just, "brakes" or "ABS". I know he wasn't a T10 developer, but I can't help making the connection that brake fade could be making it's way into Forza, which then makes me think they're modeling it because endurance races are coming back with a vengeance!

I can dream, right?

Hopefully the designer was right like he said. There is only a small amount of time till E3.

I've always waited a couple of years into a next gen's consoles life before i bought it, as they are more reliable and cheaper then, but knowing the rumours that the new xbox will be democratically priced, i'm thinking FM5 might convince me to be one of the "early ones"this time around.

Knowing how T10 usually focuses on giving their customers what they really want in a racing game, i'm hoping they include day/ night cycles, rain and endurance racing this time. That would take what is already a solid racing game and make it all i desire.

I hope you're right. My biggest worry is that by moving to a new platform, they've going to be cautious in how many new features they're going to add versus refining what's already there.
