Anyway, that sucks Chris, hopefully you will find some good karma and be back online soon. Until then, I will keep knocking you down farther in Rivals mOde, :lol:

Then I opened it up just for the heck of it.


Just messaged him and he still claims to have never opened it and that nothing should be missing. Yeah right. :rolleyes: He is only refunding half of my money. It's better than having to put in a claim or having to pay to ship the thing back I guess.

I'm thinking it will be compatible much like the DFP was compatible with the PS2 and still with the PS3.

Well on a good note.... Since I didn't have to return it and got a refund I figured to take it out and since it had the motherboard I would throw on my heat sinks and the board with the power button from my original console and see if it would power up, and wouldn't you know the console powers up without a problem. :D Only thing that sucks is the fan I have has a different harness so I was only able to leave it on for a couple minutes at a time. A new one is ordered already.

Now im back to the original issue I figured I might have at this point. The disk drive is shot. It gives me the open tray error. I tried all the fixes on youtube but nothing worked. Unfortunately it isn't the same drive as the one I have. I tried interchanging some parts from mine but no luck. I'm going to order a disk drive to match the one I need and I should be up and running.

Let me tell you I was pretty :mad:

But thankfully now Im up and running but just need to fix the disk drive and get the fan with the correct harness (which is already ordered). :cool:

That really sucks Chris. Do you know what model HDD you need? 'Cause I have one lying around here for the older model 360 (not slim so to speak) that you can have (I still have the complete Xbox too in good working condition). I bought that Xbox in June 2009.

I need a Philips, Model # DG-16D2S (note there are 2 different Philips drives the other being a VAD6038 which will not work for me since the motherboard inside is different.)
 
Okay, I have to check tonight when I'm at home.. it's only 8:40 AM here, so be patient :P If I have it, I will ship it by UPS from work for free (Yeah my boss is awesome).

Yes Ive been up all night trying to get this drive to work. :lol: I totally appreciate you trying to help me out. If you do have it and i get back up and running I will be sure to gift you a sweet car with custom livery. 👍
 
Okay, only now I realize you're talking about your DVD drive :D I had my gf lookup the HDD brand and model, but I will have her take a look at the DVD drive.

[Edit] I think you're out of luck :( I have a Philips-Benq 6038, which seems to be the VAD6038 that you referred to as incompatible...

Update: Just ordered my manufacturer refurbished disk drive. Everything I need is on the way. I just need to buy a soldering iron on the way home tonight so I can start removing the board from the non working drive.

Most likely. Any device hooked up through USB should be compatible next gen. If the current type of wireless connectivity is kept the same on the new console, old wireless devices should be compatible as well. The original xbox had no USB, only a proprietary connection which was discontinued, hence why no old devices were supported on the 360.

Yeah I was thrilled to see green lights. I haven't soldered anything in probably 15 years. I was still in High School the one and only time I ever soldered anything. I picked up my iron yesterday at radio shack (only $7 on sale for an entire kit). I already removed the original board. That was pretty easy. Just a touch on each solder point and the wire comes right out. The tougher part will be the install. My drive is coming from FL (which is where I live) so I should have to Tuesday the absolute latest and my fan already left from NC and should be here at the same time.
 
Hmm, I guess it's time to start building a Stratos!

I'm a bit confused with these timezone things again... So the race is in ~2.5h from this message, right? :)

You'll enjoy the Stratos, incredibly fun car to drive.

EDIT: Uh, going to head over to CareNow, not feeling good at all. I've sent a message to MuchoJimbo incase I can't make the races. I'm sorry for such the late notice, but it's stupid things like this that come up. :grumpy:
 
Sorry guys, I won't be making the race. I tried to drive the Stratos, tried to tune every possible parameter and still spun in every other corner. Got so pissed off at the game that I don't think I can touch it again tonight... :banghead:

And yes, I should've made it 4WD but I'm so stubborn that I will not. :p
 
Yeah, I do wonder if we will put this to Sunday then? I can still setup a room though, We could do the "unofficial" one.:lol:
 
Well, anyone that wants to race now, add me, I figure an 8 lap race on Catalunya should be fun.
 
Yeah, I got the message from crispy, but I am not available to host. Perhaps we can delay it until tomorrow (Sunday). I can host tomorrow really any time, so just let me know. Or tonite but with the time differences not sure what would be better for the people who qualified and/or available.

....I'm so looking forward to the new car pack! Didn't bother with the first one, but this second pleases me much more! I think I'll be hosting a few Escort RS1800 races, maybe even a little cup? ;)
