You can't prone on Killzone, Battlefield, Resistence, Halo, Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas etc. and it doesn't take away from the gameplay at all, but you can on other games like COD and it doesn't really enhance it. The games are designed with the ability (or lack of) to prone in mind and I've found no situation where I've wished it was there, or not, on any game.

I'd like the option to prone in Battlefield BC2 but the fact I can't just makes me pick better cover and/or take chances if I can't get cover. The fact it isn't there isn't a deal breaker to me though.

if BC2 had prone there would be no real advantage on most places in most maps. Motar strikes and grenades would effectively remove it (not to mention bullet drop, I've learn to shoot over rocks at distance and still get headshots, prone would reduce that). But on some maps on the ridges for recon (snipers) prone would help alot.

I almost think it makes the game play worse at times, with people just going prone in the most absurd places and waiting. I've seen people that just sit prone around corners waiting for people to run around them and they just knife them in the ankles because you don't even see them laying there. Seems to encourage cheese tactics and camping - "Oh I'm going to sit in the middle of this field right in the open with a silenced M4A1 and just shoot the random guy that walks by every 3 minutes."

It depends, in bc2 I think prone whould have maked the game worse , its enough hiding places as it is. But in cod i think it nice to prone, so small maps anyway so its nice to be have the opurtunity to be sneaky.

Thats what I'm getting at, some games it wouldn't work, some it would, and they're designed with that in mind so it's never been a problem for me.
