not bad, but not any special , citroen offers a good value for money
French cars suck.. I know. We have one.. Only redeeming factor is that you don't get wet when it rains...

The French are the makers of the best 'hot-hatches' in the world:

205GTi (1.6 & 1.9)
106 & 306 Rallye
Saxo VTR
5GT Turbo
Clio Williams
Clio 172 & 182cups

and one of the most underated sports cars ever - the Alpine GTA Turbo. The Venturi, which used the same engine, was pretty good too.

Don't forget Renault makes some of the safest cars in the world, being one of the few manufacturers to score 5 stars on the euro ncap crashtests. Although French cars do depreciate allot also. But to be honest I wouldn't drive a Citroen if you paid me, i've seen a few Saxo's that have been in accidents and the car only got one star in the crash tests.

Ps, the styling of the megane has grown on me.

I almost bought a 106, but I didn't like the interior and it didn't feel as solid as the me Polo. Although it was more fun to drive. I've driven the old/new Laguna and I love em, same with the newer Clios.

The 106 and the Saxo use the same body shell (they are practically the same car) so i doubt it would be any safer in an accident - its a good job you didn't buy one!

French Cars = French Fries.....( Yummy )
french fries? what are those? i know what freedom fries are. <;- ) im just messing around. lol im from the U.S. and its stupid. its not like were getting back at them (the germans originally made fries right?) by changing the name  yeah back to the topic i have only heard bad things about their depriciation (spelling)

Other than the Venturi Atlantique 300, the best looking French car, I think, is the Peugeot 406 Coupe. I can't comment on whether they are good or bad because I've never driven a French car before, or even driven in one. Though come to think of it, my transmission is French! :sly:

what do you think of the french cars ?

Any particular French car, or just "French cars" as a single entity?

Like, the Citroen 2CV? Or the MVS Venturi 600LM?

There's quite a broad range here. Help us out a little bit. What, in particular would you like to know about what "we" think about French cars? Would it help you more or less if I said that my girlfriend's Clio was crap, daan's 406 V6 Coupe was nice and the Clio V6 is "a little bit woah"?

You're a "HUGE french car fan" and were unaware of the actual name of one of the most famous French sportscar manufacturers? Do me a lemon.

It stands for "Manufacture des Voitures de Sport", for your future reference.

What's your opinion on Monica?

 Ok I guess I exaggerated a bit. Monica? Doesnt ring a bell. Sorry. I admit I am not a HUGE fan as I exaggerated I guess. But I still am a fan of these french cars. Let me do a google search for this Monica. :D

I followed a 405 the other day. I think I pissed off the owner too - he wanted to get into my lane and I matched his speed so I could stare at his car. Worth it too - I don't remember the last time I saw a Peugeot, and this one was in great condition (and it's my favorite Peugeot - not that I have much of a choice).

There was a 405, sitting abandoned near where I used to work. :(
Sad waste...

My dad has a Fiat van that's been parked in his backyard for longer then I've been alive. This is the extent of my exposure to french cars.
Oh, wait. I was in the UK on holiday/house sitting once, we got use of a Peugeot (maybe) wagon. I was ~10, so I don't remember anything about it.
I suppose the Fiat is remarkably rust resistant. Or the top is, anyway. I'm not sure how intact the floor still is.

That'd probably suck - since your entire exposure to French cars is made up of an abandoned Italian car. :p

It's okay though - our market isn't exactly saturated with these things. We haven't had a European car from a country other than Sweden, Germany, or the UK in a decade.

:)

I like the "look" of the French cars. They definitely have very unique design, and I think it's an nice change of pace from the styling of German cars.

Not including the exotics I hope! :sly:
(Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini)

Damnit, I always get those confused. :dunce:
It's probably because they don't make anything I care about and don't sell it on a continent I'm on.
Just the Peugeot then.

It was designed to carry pallets of eggs over pitted, ploughed fields.

It worked.

Stupid? Nup. Execrably slow and liable to fall over in a mild side-wind from a farting cat, yes, but not stupid.
