I was just thinking, since PD promised standards would be upgraded, what cars do you think will make the cut? I personally think any heavily used standard will. Like the Veyron. Thoughts?

All the cars will eventually be upgraded and rendered as per the premium cars.

PS. What does 'pro drag racer' imply? Do you drag in real life?

This is a pretty big assumption - while a good chunk of them probably will, there's just as much chance we'll see something similar to the jump from GT2 to GT3, where a lot of cars were cut, never to return to the series. The Subaru SVX and Mazda Cosmos are two of the best examples...

Given that Kaz himself has made a comment about how the endless minute variations of some models is probably too much, and not needed, it certainly seems possible things like the MNP R34's, or every year's model, will be dropped going forward, instead consolidating the ranges to a few selections.

Of course, until we actually see any Standards upgraded to Premium, it's all a bit of guess-work until then ;)

But how can you know which are the most frequently used cars? If we ever see such an upgrade, it'll be on the cars they want.

How about this one?

You don't know that. Only a few could be upgraded.

Nah I only drag in GT5, but IRL I have a few built engines. As a matter of fact I'm about to rip a 351W out of our truck and put a flexplate in it (yay no more hand cranking to get it started), then time to strip the thing down to the frame and rebuilt a 3rd time.

I honestly dont ever see that happening. If it took 6 years to render 200 (20%)cars as premium, its simple math to figure out how long it will take to do the other 800 (80%).

I would LOVE to see all the cars converted to premium but thats just something that is not going to happen. :indiff:

The Veyron is the only car I think we can be certain will make the cut. It’s a recent addition and a big-name car. I have a hunch the Toyota GT-One might make it.

Suzuki Pike's Peak ESCUDO
Audi R8 Race Car '01
Ford RS200 Rally Car

The RS200 because it's Group B rally cars, the ESCUDO because it's one of the few cars on dirt faster then a Group B rally car, and the R8 because GT5 needs more premium LMP cars (And it won Le Mans once or twice 👍)

Well they do presumably need quite a lot of data from the real things to make the premium models, after all.

So current cars like the Veyron might come sooner, as well as common cars like Civics and Skylines. It might be hard for them to get their hands on things like the '54 Corvette or Chaparral 2J.

But it didn't take 6 years to model 200 cars, it took them 6 years to build the whole game which is a whole lot more than just cars.

I do see what you're saying though, and I agree that it is pretty far fetched for all the standard to be upgraded to premium no mater how much I would love it. Ah well, roof cam doesn't bother me so I can still enjoy all the standards but I would love a cockpit for the lovely YellowBird.

Dunno about future GT5 updates, but for GT6 they need to get a big chunk of their modelling quota outsourced.
What was it? 6 months per premium car? Or am I thinking of something else?

For god sake, how many times do we have to cover this. I could search and find 50 threads asking this same question...The mods around here need to step their game up.

I bet the Subaru Impreza rally car '99 will be premium soon

Watch at 0:50

Does it not looks like a premium car?

That Impreza looks like it wasn't completed. In fact, some of the others don't look to great either.

This is looking like a wishlist thread rather then what you think will be premium. Considering one guys just listed a bunch of le mans cars and other such fast vehicles and an Australian (No offense) put down the only Australian cars in the game. Or not in the game technically...

Most of the cars listed will most likely not be chosen.

My point was that come GT6, I'd bet my house that standard cars don't exist. That's all I meant by all standard cars will be upgraded.

What constitutes a pro drag racer in GT5? Besides pressing the x button? No disrespect.

Actually I believe up to 5 years....
