Just took a look at the tables, and I find it quite positive how close everything seems to be together. 6 different makes in the top 8, first 6 drivers inside of 1 race's points ... also looks good from a BoP-point of view. Some cars better at top speed (Renault, Alfa, Mazda, Lexus), others better through corners (Honda, Nissan) with the Ford probably being the car with no obvious weaknesses (it's probably best suited for tracks where it can use its torque, Nürburgring GP/D, etc.)... this is certainly one of the best BoP's I have witnessed in TOCA since I joined.
To be fair, I think the cars that could be subject to a mid-season change in my opinion, are the Mazda and the Toyota. The Mazda is ultra-fast on the straights (it pulled away easily on the straights although I was in its slipstream), but it has really bad cornering, so a shift towards usability combined with a power-cut might be reasonable.
The Toyota I was never able to figure out. It's not powerful and it doesn't instil confidence in its driver, because it constantly feels like it could bite you once you lose concentration for a second, but apparently some people are able to wring some performance out of it. And I wouldn't want to pass judgement on a car I apparently can't figure out.![]()
The problem with the Toyota is it's super fast in the corners, meaning it has to be slow on the straights to balance up.
It's a good car for hot-lapping. But, it's a poor race car.
