Does anyone know or have heard or anything about fuel consumption in GT4... would be cool for the Endurance Races :)

(( and dont just post "i dont know, i'm not PD" because those posts are just lame, if you can't ask anything here then what's the point of this forum? ))

👍 well said that man.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before on here. I think it was brought up when the first pictures of the new HUD were shown, and there was, what looked like a fuel gauge on the new HUD. It would be really nice to include it, and it seems like a very easy thing to add to the game.

Cheers

ok, that was pretty bad from my side :ouch: ... i thought i came up with a new subject so i skipped the search this time... :guilty:

Yeah it's one of the purple tests. You have to do a lap of tsukuba in the prius without using too much fuel but by doing it in under a set amount of time.

The Prius handles like a dog however!!

If we do get fuel consumption in GT4 proper - how will running out of fuel be implimented?

1) Sudden stop followed by 'FAIL' type cut screen? :dunce:

2) Computer controlled 'pulling your car to the edge of the track' then the above? :ouch:

3) Car stops dead and you have to wait there until race ends or you quit out? :nervous:

4) Computer leaves you enough fuel to tootle along at a forced 50kph (like 10 second penalty in GT4P) until you reach the pits to re-fuel? 👍

Personlly i'd like to see option 4

5) The computer works out that you can't complete a lap with the remaining fuel you have and pulls you into the pits...

I found that prius test quite fun in fact, except that the gas pedal is much too sensitive when you just want to use the electric engine (you can't just hammer it down as you usually do in GT).

I would prefere fuel consumption to tyre wear in the harder race series - tyre wear should not be an issue in a 5 lap race.

...mind you, neither should fuel consumption - i guess i just don't like cars that understeer like sledges.

[sarcasm]Really... I find Understeer one of the most fun parts of racing driving... much more fun than that silly oversteer stuff that people talk about!!![/sarcasm]

6. You have to sit there on the track waiting for your rushing pit crew to bring your limited amout of gas just so you can make it to the pits. Then you pit.

what if u decide to go one more lap and get in front of sum1 b4 pitting and ur fuel runs out, then they will have to make a GT4 into GTA:VC ull have to get out and steal another racer'r car

Why stop there? Rocket launchers would be awesome in GT4. Just blow everyone away, no competition!

that would be kinda hard to determine and would kill the strategy portion in long races since ur gas mileage can change drastically from one lap to the next. u should just stop on the road and the fail sign should come up as stated before. this is a simulation game right?

As I am a stickler for accuracy, and even though it would make me so mad, I would want my car to just be tooling along, have my fuel light start to flash, and I'd be like "Oh crap..." and then my car would die, and I would try to coast to the pits, and my luck, it would stop just before I hit the pit entry, and then my crew couldn't come and get me. Then it would fade out and say "DNF". And although i would be totally pissed, I would still think it was cool.

From what I've read so far tootling along at 50km until you reach the pits is the most workable and realistic option.

I think the most realistic way would be for the engine to die and to just coast along until you reached the pits... or not.... then you fail...

But to do this a proper fuel gauge would have to be implemented and not just a fuel warning light.

Fuel is not the most exciting aspect of racing, but it would create some new racing tactics to conserve fuel. Drafting just off the throttle for a tow, or short shifting to stay out the high revs, gentle throttle etc.

F1 cars have different settings to burn lean or rich, I heard a commentator talking about an "overtaking button" on the wheel, it bypasses the fuel management when pressed to give you maximun power just when you need it.

I prefer the virtual world of never running out of fuel :) Full power all the time 👍

In an enduro you could enter one of those smart cars that do 350mpg, take on a load of Corvettes, and win

I agree that you'd need a decent fuel gauge and not just a warning light to do it properly.

We've all played that game where the fuel light comes on, you ignore it, let it go into the red, and off the bottom of the gauge and see how far you can go ;)

I managed 120miles with an "empty" tank!

If you want full power all the time go buy Need for Speed. GT is aiming for realism. Adding fuel would add to the realism.
