I wonder if the engines will be affected by today's quali next week in China. All of the top 10 drivers did approx. 2x as many laps as they usually do in quali because of the conditions.

Maybe we'll finally see some engine failures then (plz not Kimi :nervous:).
 
Am I right in saying that ITV didn't show it live on ITV1? Luckily I caught to re-run at 10 this morning and it was quite a session - phenomenal performance from Hamilton - another reminder that this guy really is something else. Both McLarerrais look in good shape 👍

Was a really good qualy session. If it's a wet race tomorrow, it could be a fantastic race
 
SPEED TV showed the qualiyfying sessions semi-live (about 10 min delay for some odd reason)

Bingo, was on ITV4 I believe, live anyway. Odd how they skipped the first 10 mins of Q1
 
well that was a good qualifying, quite an interesting one at that. Well at the start of Q1, the commentator said if the weather is getting worse, they could have cancel the qualifying and had it tomorrow but luckily it got better with each session. Too bad Ralf didn't get to do Q2 because of "some lousy Japanese" (well it was Sakon's fault that he did not move when he should have. Ashamed really...)

But wow, the McLaren was definitely fast thought the sessions and it was an awe inspiring drive from Button and Vettel. Both making it to Q3 and had a good qualifying position. Hope they can keep that position during raceday. Another interesting fact is that if "and I said if" the race happens like Nurburgring (the weather forecast said that it could be 85% rain) then we could have another enjoyable race to watch..... (or a boring one for those of you. Yes, I know who you are....)
 
Haven't seen qualify, I could barely stay awake after midnight. And I'll have to take an extra nap this afternoon if I want to watch this race.
 
If it rains, Liuzzi's gamble won't pay off. And then Danny will be sad.

So will Sato's. :(

Correct, it was on at 5:30AM on ITV3, I was watching it.

McLaren seems to be running considerably more rear wing than Ferrari.
 
This is going to be a very interesting race... safety car start, already on lap 4 and still runnign SC laps... both Ferrari's now in the pits changing to extreme wets after Masa & Kimi spinout.

OH, and look who posted the fastest lap...

I know its all for saftey conditions but why cant they just start the race? If they raced at faster speed wouldn't they create a dryer line?
 
What fuel strategy is the safety car on?

This isn't Sparta, its madness. They can't race in these conditions.

I dunno it just seems madness that they are going round and around, if they are going to cancel it then why not do it, or postpone it.
 
Mercedes/McLaren is 1, 2 and 3. It's too bad the constructors points no longer count.

Yes but they are racing drivers, paid to race, put on TV to race, not follow the saftey car.

Maybe its because its 6AM and i need food and ive got up to watch hardly anything, i don't know....

They're giving it a chance to get better, but it doesn't look like its going to.

They punished themselves, as the tire change put them at the back of the field... and with the race conditions, that pretty much just ended their chance at a win.
 
If we go to the end under the safety car, Kimi will win as he won't need to stop again.
 
I saw that, nice move/luck on Ferrari's part, but I was really surprised McLaren didn't pit before Ferrari in the one-stop window to insure they would be ahead of Ferrari!
 
The Safety car can't do the whole race on a tank of fuel! Its going to have to stop.

If we go to the end under the safety car there's going to be a lot of anger among the fans, IMO. Pretty sure most people didn't pay to see a procession.

(Well, not one at 60 MPH, anyway.)

Hopefully it'll dry up, or they'll postpone it, or do whatever the FIA does in times like these.

EDIT: Complaining always works. SC to go in Lap 19, we'll see how long it stays in. ;)

However, this also shows how fast they could be going if allowed to race... but yes, it is too dangerous, so I understand the situation... although I would just as well have then cancel the race and re-schedule it for tomorrow.
