I'm surprised they managed to get the race in under the time limit.
By just a few seconds!

Wild bizarre race... congrats to Hamilton for keeping his head on straight, and not allowing all the drama on and off the track from keeping him from the win basically winning the Driver's championship assuming he has a decent finish in either of the two remaining races. 👍

Looks like Hamilton's days of karting in the rain helped a lot.

That was a fun. Crazy race.

I say to hell with Suzuka!

If it always rains at Fuji this time of year...I hope they keep the race here.

Just enough excitement to keep it really entertaining without everybody flying off the track at 150 miles an hour.

And a shout out to the infinitely patient Japanese fans. I'd have left hours ago.

Edit: And that's probably the best-looking trophy I've seen all season, too.

Awesome race. Congrats to Hamilton for his win and Heiki taking the second spot for Renault after 14 races.

Lmao @ Kimi's trophy. When he lifted it over his head, a whole bunch of water dumped out.

Somebody at another forum I'm reading said 'Kimi looks pissed in the interview room.'

...he always looks pissed.

Omnis, maybe they left the trophies out in the rain all race... XD

I always knew Fuji wouldnt dissappoint! People wrote it off too quickly:p

Oh wow..... i can't believe you guys are awake at this time of hour....its good to see i'm not the only one who would stay up late watching F1 and skipping school in the process.... :) Got to respect all of you guys.

Hmmm....i guess it was Nurburngring all over again, with all the carnage and the downpour. Phew, but this time its Hamilton who takes the win and Alonso taking the spoil. Great battle all the way between the two Finns. But the battle at the end between Massa and Kubica was astonishing to say the least. The funny part of the race was when poor old Vettel crashed with Webber during the safety lap. Thought it would be awesome for him to get a podium finish (and Webber to have a chance against Hamilton) Poor guy, he would get a scolding of his lifetime when Webber sees him.
I'll try to post a photo of him crying later (if i can find it that is.....)

Edit: Well talk about crying....this is got to be hilarious! Picture caption game anyone?

Alll right my views...

Hamilton - Solid race, no mistakes or horrors bar that naughty move by Kubica (sorry but he didn't have to take that risk and at no point had the corner. Hamilton now needs to just win in China to take the title and a 14pt gap (assuming Alonso comes 2nd) to Brazil.

Alonso - HAHA!

Button - So unlucky, big shame.

Webber and Vettel - I feel sorry for Vettel, but it was a big error and I understand Webber's anger.

Ferrari - "We didn't know" my arse. They knew damn well and just tried to do what they always do and bend the rules. Lucky to get anything out of this race.

Shame about Nico too. But overall, great race and I shall be watching/taping the re-run at 11:30.

Who'd have thought...2 races to go and Hamilton needs just 1 more win.

Arnoux vs. Villeneuve all over again, what a great race!

That was a fantastic race! I enjoyed just about every moment after that long safety car period.

no he just needs to finish in front of alonso.

That too lol.

Y'know, it's very similar to last season when in Japan, Schumi's retirement meant Alonso had the chance to win the title in the following race, albeit this time Hamilton would have a race to spare. But funny how Alonso's on the good end of it one season and the opposite the next.

Edge of the seat stuff - amazing drive by Hamilton!!

I was a bit perturbed about the 'randomness' that the safety car situation could have brought about - with the Ferraris being pulled in and effectively sent to the back, there was a brief spell where it looked like they might have stolen an unlikely march on everyone else had the safety car had to stay out... luckily it didn't!

Just 9 points from the next two races and the title goes to Lewis Hamilton! Kimi will be praying that the two McLarens take each other out in both of the next two races!! Not bloody likely...

Heh, the re-run has skipped the safety car laps. Not sure if I'm happy or not about that

For the first time, I feel sorry for Vettel.

Maybe I'm warming to him.:indiff:

Yeah, gotta feel for him...sure I understand Webber being so POed...but every rookie makes a mistake, even Hamilton has albeit not so costly

I think that Hamilton was being a bit stupid at the restarts from the safety car. Admittedly, he's got to try and break free, but accelerating and braking like he was doing was a bit daft when the people behind can't see if the car in front is braking or not. It was inevitable that someone was going to run into someone else.

I watched this live but didn't comment earlier as I wanted my damn sleep! It was a fantastic race as all wet races seem to produce these days. Hamilton surely has the title wrapped up now.

Elsewhere, Heidfeld vs Button: Battle of the Beards! Shame about Jense but he seemed pretty handy still even without a front wing! Honda really should have collected a handful of points today but instead, they got a big fat 0. Vettel was quite simply amazing untill that brain fart, I wonder if Webber tried to throw his wheel at the STR.. Kovalinen put in a tidy show, he seems to be a great defender based on these last two races. Raikkonen done well, as much as I hate to say it and Massa seemed just about everywhere today. In the pit lane 4 times, off the track 3 times, into another car.. Busy day! Kubica really shouldn't have had the drive-through, I firmly believe it was a racing incident between himself and Hamilton..

And Alonso? Pwned.

Note: Liuzzi has had 25 seconds added to his final time for passing under yellows. Sorry to say Danny, but this gives Sutil the 8th place, Spyker's first point of the season. Story.

Oh crap! Why does STR seems to have the bad luck? First was poor Vettel clobering Mark Webber's Red Bull and now this? Wow, I can't remember how bad a team that is actually this unlucky. Even the Minardi's get to score a point somehow......

Oh and Vettel has a 10 place grid penalty for China thanks to the collision with Webber. Story.

Spyker have a point :D

EDIT: avatar changed to suit Danny's preferences

If you knew a bit about things the world would be free of comments like this. There was nothing to be known, there is not such a rule that prevents starting into a full wet race with intermediate tyres. The judges apologized that for Ferrari after the race but it was a bit late at that point. Surprise surprise, Hamilton cruised unopposed into a free victory thanks to this small mistake...

You have quite some nerve to talk about bending the rules while flying the McLaren flag. To my understanding trying to bend, not even fully break, the rules (always as you say, to me once in a season isn't always), getting caught and being stopped in time is OK. Breaking the rules, getting caught and still winning the World Championship is not. 👎

If they did know they shot themselves in the foot, it cost them alot of time.

The FIA have apoligized to Ferrari for the tyre mishap, supposedly they got the email (why wouldn't they inform teams first hand? I usually read my emails once a week) 7 minutes after the race had already "started".

Sad for Kimi :( next year hopefully, great drive though.

Hopefully in the future we can fill the post-race pressconference with some more of our gibberish (Nico is learning Finnish and might finally come over to the darkside) :).
