I'm no god. :) Thank you for the compliment however!

That said, I'm appalled by the shipping time :( Darn holidays really messed with my shipments it seems. I'm going to send you a PM.

Just a little update... :sly:

This is done, tested, working, excellent, etc. It was actually done some time ago and there are currently about 20 folks happily shifting away with them. I did not release them to the public as I would not have been able to keep up with demand. However, things have changed and I can now manage that much more effectively.

Here are some details:

Direct Connection to Fanatec Wheel:
  • All 6 gears plus reverse work.
  • Sequential mode on the G25 shifter works.
  • The buttons on the shifter DO NOT work in this mode as the Fanatec wheel cannot handle anything but gear changes on its shifter input.
  • The adapter is power directly from the wheel itself, no external power supply is necessary.

Connected via USB to a computer:
  • All 6 gears plus reverse work.
  • Sequential mode on the G25 shifter works.
  • All buttons on the shifter work.
  • No special driver needed.

Thanks for reading :D

Ok folks - so I took the plunge and ordered up one of these interesting FL2 whizbangs. My reason was purely out of personal need. One of my test rigs uses a G25 shifter, and I am considering replacing the G27 wheel to which the G25 shifter is attached (with one of my gizmos) with a new wheel, a Clubsport with F1 rim. Anyhow, I had a few options, but knew I needed a device to connect the G25 shifter to the USB input.

For me, there was only one clear choice, the FL2 from Basherboards.com - I ordered it up a few days ago and it landed on my desk today. The entire ordering experience from end to end was professional and prompt. The device was well packed and included instructions, all nicely done. Bravo!

Installing the device is a breeze. Plug in the shifter to one end and connect the USB to the computer. Everything works like a champ without any issues - as I expected it should. The device itself is very well made.

It's not my intention to review products. Since the device was of a personal need, I felt compelled to post my thoughts on it. I paid for the device like anyone else, and have not been asked, nor is it expected that I write my thoughts about it for everyone to read. I'm posting simply as one sim racing "nut" to other enthusiasts. I do recommend Basherboard's FL2 for anyone who wants to connect a G27/25 shifter to either a USB port or a Fanatec wheel. That the device is made in the USA is that much more of a plus!

Thanks, Jon! You've got real winner with the FL2!

Derek,

Sorry I did not have a chance to respond here sooner and thank you for the kind words! :D

They mean a lot coming from someone like yourself.

My devices present an interesting situation in which people seem to forget they are even there... Thus, you don't hear too much about them after the initial installation. :) This is actually a good thing, but it makes getting them "out there" a little more difficult.

Just a small update on this...

I had a few customers run into some issues when using the adapter and shifter via USB in conjunction with Fanaleds. As well, there were some users that experienced an issue with the adapter not being recognized after a reboot (if the adapter was left plugged in).

Both of these have been remedied with the most recent firmware updates made, as well as some other minor fixes that have happened over time. If you would like to update the firmware on your device, you can do so by following the instructions on this page: http://www.basherboards.com/FL2_firmware You need to follow the instructions exactly The update process requires a Windows PC. Be sure to read the instructions when through as something may have changed since the firmware currently on your adapter.

If anyone runs into issues, please contact me using the contact form on my website for support. If you are not having any issues at all at this time, there is no immediate need to update your device.

Hello there. I received my package today from you all safe and sound. I got it all calibrated and such but, how do i get the buttons to work on the g27 shifter? I play rfactor, so I'd like to use the buttons. Thank you again.

The G27 buttons are not functional in games when connected to Fanatec wheels. The adapter provides the functionality of the Fanatec shifters, which do not have buttons. The buttons will work if you use the shifter on a PC via a direct USB connection, but this is dependent on the games ability as well.
