Does anyone know of some good G29 settings?

Links welcome!

Hi! Try some from the oscarlim.pt website, it got lots of information and FFB settings for cars and wheels, explanations and you can share also your settings.

Never even knew about that site, thank you very much.

👍

Hi how are you getting on with the g29 & pcars i cant feel understeer

I still can't be bothered to try any settings, having to copy them online, then input them into the game is more than I can bear. Why can't we just have a Share FFB Settings function? It would make life a lot easier. This game is far too convoluted & inaccessible for my liking.

A few months old, but looks like a good spot to try....

I can't possibly save a slide with the G29, where it is no trouble at all with my DS3. Tired of spinning out while battling for the lead in QM's.

What needs to be adjusted? I downloaded the LGS app and looked, trying to reduce the wheel travel to 360 degrees, no help.

I'm lost.

Hey there ,i got the g29 and found it took some time to get into it .
Using on ps3 at moment had to adjust ffb to feel comfortable , have pcars but only had couple goes and there is lots of settings , so i too need to find a setup to suit ...
Rotation :Think pcars i didn't turn the wheel all the way in calibrate to cheat it ,not been able to change on ps3 ..
Good luck

Hey,yea I had issues like that,i used the same G29setup that I use for dirt rally
FFB is set really low seems to help me.

That's one of the biggest helps, sensitivity 3 and max force at 1.

The rest is learning not to crank the wheel entering without braking enough. I think the DS3 I was hammering the brakes and slowing faster. The realistic braking makes it feel like I need to brake earlier and a bit harder so the car will turn without cranking the wheel over, which induces oversteer once it slows enough.

I think. lol

I'm only getting started with Project Cars and the G29 but right off the bat I figured out the following. Please be aware that I'm coming from a DFGT wheel that had virtually no brake pedal feel.

1) I had to calibrate the brake pedal to about 50% travel, otherwise I'll never get full braking unless I push the pedal so hard it pulls my wheel stand away from me. Maybe it will break in a little?

2) I did not calibrate the wheel travel. The default setting is a reduced travel but if you go lock to lock during calibration you'll have to hand-over-hand steer like a bus. I had to reset the settings to get back to defaults.

3) Driving the karts, I had to drop the FFB from 100 to 50, it was just too much.

The brake pedal is like that giving 2/3 of travel till it hits the stop rubber then to get last bit you have to push harder ..i took the rubber block out coz i have a bad foot ...it is suppose to make it feel more real but not great ..
Look at mod spring this is suppose to make it feel more real and should improve lap times ?
For rotation i just didn't turn wheel all way in calibrate !

Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll look at the mod options. I think lap times will definitely improve once I get the travel and sensitivity to mimic a curve that most resembles a real pedal and I spend some time getting acclimated. The pedal itself feels great, it just doesn't translate to the right amount of braking in the game. My first lap with the default settings had me braking well before the first distance marker at the end of straights and then panic braking when the car wasn't slowing down. I'm going to spend a little more time with the sensitivity to see what works best. I might be able to use more travel if I lower sensitivity...so the soft portion of the travel does most of the braking, then the hard portion of the travel applies exponentially more braking.

Hi Chuyler - I was interested to read this thread and the thoughts impressions of others. I am new to Project Cars after a lot of GT5 and GT6. When I first started with Project Cars I found that a lot of the cars just went straight off the track as soon as I reached a corner. I think this is what happens - in GT6 the car rotates / turns in on the brakes, but in Project Cars you need to brake earlier, turn in earlier and power through the corner. I use a T500RS wheel calibrated with 1080 degrees on default settings and now that I have altered my driving style to suit the game I am getting round the corners with hardly any steering movement. At first I was steering a lot due to getting the wrong line.

I find the cars vary in responsiveness a lot more than GT6. For example I spent a lot of time driving the Caterham Classic which is a very light and responsive car which demands delicate inputs. After a while I got the hang of it, but when I switched to a Ford Escort, at first it was like driving a bus and I couldn't get it to turn - I just kept running off the track. Now I find it isn't a problem at all - I think more of the steering on Project Cars is done with the throttle which enables steering with small amounts of wheel rotation. As I am getting slightly faster I am sometimes finding it hard to judge the limit of grip so I am losing the rear - it is satisfying when I catch it, but I need a lot more practise to avoid spinouts.

My pedals have an optional hard brake pedal mod, but like Richroo I don't use it - I am also using a stand - the stronger pedal is fine for rigs, but probably too much for wheel stands.

The provlem with the pedal feel of the G29 is that it uses a travel sensor with a rubber stop that must be compressed to reach max braking. A much better, but likely more expensive set up that would function 100% is a pressure sensor, somyou dont have to force travel into the pedal, only pressure. If that makes sense?

With all that said, I cant get my G29 to work woth Pcars, or my PS4 Pro....it calibrates, then only three buttons work. Even tried complete ahutdown thinking that would work. Nope.

Any tricks?

Did you switch the setting on the top from PS3 to PS4?

lol, yes.

I did finally get it working today. I had to do as a youtube video I found instructed. Unplug the cable from the PS4, plug it back in and switch the PS3/PS4 switch back and forth before allowing it to calibrate. Did it twice and it works now....once it acknowledged the G29 I still had to set the shifter to the paddles and a couple other settings to my liking. Like park brake, view change, sway bar and brake bias adjustments (while in a race).

Way more fun!

LOL,,, I thought "I" was the only guy that almost  threw my Christmas present out the winder 'cause It wouldn't work - kids and grand kids pooled their $ and got the G29 for 'ol Dad and Gran dad - only to FINALLY resort to YouTube and see that I also overlooked :dunce: that leeeeetle teeny switch on top of the wheel to switch between PS3/PS4! LOL and Whew! A temper tantrum that was way too close! :banghead:

I'm still like you fellas,, taking baby steps trying to learn all the "HOW TO's" of the G29 and PCars It seems I was mistaken when I thought I had heard the wheel could be set to less than full rotation. I believe the PCars made the game wayyyy too complicated, but I suppose there's a ton of gamers who enjoy wiling away all those hours fiddeling with so many settings,, kudos to them. Nonetheless, I do enjoy the game and will enjoy playing it until Sport hits the streets.

how you finding the wheel mate ?, i got one at xmas aswell and ive got to say im liking it quite a bit !!! big imorovement from the dfgt.

jumping between
gt6, dirt rally, project cars and assetto corsa. all different driving styles aswell lol, shame it doesnt work on the cew though

*Credit goes to Lucana89 of the Project Cars forum for discovering the understeer effect using the global settings*
"This tune was made using Assetto Corsa as a reference. To feel understeer and the track, change ONLY those values in FFB global/general:
FFB strength: 100
Tyre Force: 150
Per Wheel Movement: -0.02
Per Wheel Mov. Sq.: +0,01
Comp.: 0,02
Deadzone R.: 0,12
Deadzone F.: 0,024
Scoop K.: 0,58
Scoop R.: 0,52
Gain:1,00 (like classic)

I'm pretty satisfied. Good luck!"

Set your global to default and change only the values above. These were specifically used on a G29.

I then used Jack Spade teaker files "kerbs minus Fy+SOP Lat Mix" for each car for best feel imo.
http://pcars.oscarolim.pt/
Select the "kerbs minus Fy+SOP Lat Mix" configuration and export to download. Scan the spreadsheet for the car you want to use, and then enter the values given. This has been a breath of new life into Pcars for me. It gives the understeer effect and road feel similar to Assetto Corsa using the G29. Give this setup combination a try. Worked for me.

I can't view the file for the 66% thing. Can you go into your game and write out what settings are changed in the vehicle setup?
