Lol , I haven't tested my Denso Sard on the puzzle course yet , i've driven GT500's there before quite a few times now along with other types of cars in the game. In terms of a laptime reference though I was very close to Gamestas test pace at Fuji , think I was 2-3 tenths down on his time , not my strongest circuit as I never usually race there.

Yeah I love the pit straight slipstreams ! Truly great fun 👍 I'm always very careful to brake a little sooner than the guy in front , i'm very good at following bumper to bumper. I think we'll be fine , the starts are always a little intense. How's your testing been?

TJ, I wasn't questioning your speed or ability to keep up in any way... hopefully it didn't come across that way. I was just curious what someone who "likes" Road Course Indy can run around there to see if I'm in the ballpark.

I have almost never run that track before this week and my practice time is posted above in the thread for Indy (1'29.0XX on warmed RM tires). The track seemed relatively easy to get in the flow for me, but I was alone on the track and maybe wasn't going fast enough as I didn't really have a target. The track would suddenly seem more difficult if I had to try and find another second or two on it which is probably the case given my lack of track time on it.

Sorry for the double post by the way , PC is broken & the amount of words you can write on the PS3 browser is limited ......
No worries WRP . I was just giving you a little background on me since I am new to the series and nobody has driven with me yet.:)

I will test tomorrow on a few tracks and see what I can do compared to your time , racing in a pack does tend to speed me up a bit too....

👍

Was there a time change (daylight savings or whatever) in the UK?

Just in case 10:00 Est is start of testing tomorrow if we are at GMT+4 it will be 2:00pm GMT if we are at GMT+5 then the start is like normal at 3:00pm GMT

ok, I just wanted to make sure almost every year it catches me in my timezone deducing so to speak lol, so I wanted to make sure. 30th of October I have marked it on my calendar to remember and make sure the times are sorted. Are time shift should be around then too if I am not mistaken.

You're alien quick compared to me at the moment
I just finished a test session there with my fastest time being 1:30:749.....
I consistently hit the 30.8's but I could feel there was a little more time I could squeeze from it...... Can't see it giving me another 1.7 seconds though.:lol:

I will enjoy looking at your bumper tomorrow ..... but not for long :)

 👍

LOL... I'm no alien that's for sure.

Took a little bit of time to get back into the flow at Road Course Indy tonight, but ended up running a best practice lap of 1'58.827. Most laps were in the mid 1'59s though. The 1'58s are outliers and require taking some chances. Probably not worth trying to run that pace in a race, but definitely possible for qualifying.

Also ran a 10 lap practice race (alone) and ran these lap times:

  1. 1'37.016 (grid start, cold tires)
  2. 1'29.224
  3. 1'28.881
  4. 1'29.401
  5. 1'29.568
  6. 1'30.484 (mistake cost me a second)
  7. 1'29.588
  8. 1'29.569
  9. 1'30.058 (tires start degrading)
  10. 1'29.966

I'm sure a little traffic and drafting is going to make a big difference here.

Great times WRP , hovering around the 1.30's will be competitive i'm sure....
As we know all the GT500s have strengths in different areas , and with the SC430 its torque isn't its greatest attribute , its handling is nice and consistent though. In my test yesterday I was very consistent in laptimes too. Staying within a tenth or so most of the way through a 10 lapper.

The drafting will keep it tight for sure , you get a natural spacing through the field in long events , so keeping the tow and staying in the pack will be crucial and indeed great fun. 👍

Looking forward to hitting the track with you and the guys at 4pm BST .
My DFGT needs a good workout lol.

I think this happened to a lot of you as four of you were disconnected within a minute of each other.

After testing today I have come to the conclusion for this season I will be changing damage from Heavy to Light. Let me know what you think? This will hopefully eliviate some of the frustration from those tiny little unavoidable bumps that can ruin a race. I will post some pics a little later on from our Battles today.

sounds good to me, rather have it on light, don't want to ruin anyone's race and don't want mine ruined by stupids little bumps that shouldn't be that bad

great race at indy, me and remy battled it out the whole race for second. other races were alright, just hard with the damage heavy and being perfect around everybody and vice versa

that sounds good...

Yeah, that's really the way to go. I've had almost all of the testsessions ruined because of heavy damage/bad driving.

 for light damage!

👍 for light damage.

Yep , I saw a few guys go then mine went too , so weird.....
I've got good , but not brilliant internet here. I'm NAT 2 with Normal Bandwith , averaging download speeds of 5.5Mbps. Wish I was Japanese sometimes as those guys get an average of 70.0Mbps ! Fast internet indeed.....

+1 for light damage too . I tapped Hydro at Turn 3 very slightly and it forced us both to pit , my mistake though.

👍

I finally watched the replay of the Indy test race and 6 of the 8 drivers had damage in lap 1. I'm the only one that bothered to pit to fix it  Glad we're switching to the light damage model.
