Congratulations to the Dragon and the podium finishers. You guys are very fast. 👍

Horrible performance from myself. It seems I am not quite ready to just jump back into the seat after a fairly long absence from GT. I need a lot more track time to practice. It's not the pace that's the problem, being slow is fine, it's all the mistakes and misjudgements. Unfortunately, next week won't be much better. Though I like Spa far more than Daytona (my least liked course in the entire GT series), I don't have DLC so I won't be able to practice before next week. I am not very familiar with the course.

I must apologize to Ekke for hitting him on the first lap. After that, I gave everyone plenty of room.

I looked. Nepalii wasn't alone speeding although he was going all out at 160 mph at the wide yellow line which is not even close. Dragon admitted himself speeding on entry and I checked and he was going 130 mph at the line, also not close, but he was at least braking at the time. Note: I didn't risk it and slowed down to 93 mph at the line.

.

ya i did that i was like o crap no!! so i kept on the brakes till i was pretty slow to keep regards to everybodyelse's position on track, i pretty much just tried to even out how much space i would of got by going 100 the whole way and running 130 at start and like 70 before going into pits totally, dunnow how slow i got for sure, just driver mistake on my part,

i haven't watched the replay, but if something's going on over and over like not trying to make up for something like that then i guess make it a more severe penalty.

i watched the replay, nepal had braked his car all the way down to 50ish till cpu took over, probably did same thing i did and lost concentration when he pitted, didn't look flat out to me cept not hitting beginning of the marker at 100. Looked like he broke almost right at the marker where we were suppose to be at 100.

I was braking all the way down to like 100KM so I dont know what you guys are going on about... I have never seen pit entry rules before to be honest, but whatever. Great racing today, nice bump drafting Dragon.

We're talking about the fact that you had to be down to 100 mph by the start of the wide yellow line which was made clear in the thread:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6098531#post6098531

I don't really care about any penalties. Good racing. But you are in the series so should at least take a look at the thread. If you don't know what we're talking about it's because you aren't paying attention.

For what it's worth I don't think these incidents impacted final order anyway. Not a big fan of pit road speed limits, but they've been listed in op since day 1 so we all deal with them.

Nice =)

I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to online race series, but I don't consider myself a dirty driver so you don't need to worry.

So you just entered the championship without reading the OP ? Yup , thought so .

I'll look forward to pointing out this same offence when you do it again , enjoy . :sly:

That was the CPU taking control of your car , not your actual driving input . 👍

That was the CPU reducing his speed , which is what happens when you fly into the pits at full speed .
The CPU stops you almost dead to reduce you to the actual speed lane limit .
He already knows how GT works . Yet amazingly he seems to think nobody else does.....

TJ the cpu didn't take over till u notice nepalii's car jerk to the right, that is the point that cpu takes over, i checked it over and over. idk how slow he was at this point but if i take the same line that low going into pits my car jerks to the right the same way slightly, daytona pits really suck.

That's correct yep , I just tested a full speed entry for myself & yes he did brake .
I will amend my previous post . 👍

Let's just move on to spa and let Gamesta handle it. I know nepalii is a great driver and probably just didn't know point which he should be at 100. Not an excuse, but Gamesta can/will apply appropriate penalty if he wants.

Tj, I think you are being a bit harsh, but we get your point. I don't think / hope we will be having same discussion next week.

By the way, the spa pit entrance is hard to locate if you don't know track.

Can't wait to race on the new track!

+1 👍

Sorry for the drama to everyone here , I agree i'm being harsh but the rules apply to everyone . ( My last word on said matter :) )

It will be awesome to race you guys here . :)

I have raced tons and tons on this track in f1, just never have pitted here yet lmao, gonna have to check em out.

What you can do to work out if Nepalli gained time in the pit entrance:

Record how long it takes from the beginning of pit entrance to the point when CPU takes over while travelling 100mph

Record how long it took for Nepalli to get from beginning of pit entrance to the point when CPU takes over...

Compare both times..

Just me shootin my mouth off...👍

Here's the livestats leaderboard video for Round 5 - Daytona:

I take back what I said earlier about having the fastest lap. That belonged to Nepalii with a 1'42.184 (Lap 7 drafting Dragon) and I had second fastest with 1'42.265 (Lap 21 no drafting).

My Race Report:

Qualified second with a 1'42.180 (or something close) and Dragon got pole with a 1'42.145 (about 35 thousands quicker).

Start was good (for a change) and slipped in behind Dragon... few taps from behind under braking on first corner (from Nepalii and King), but nothing major. Exit from turn 1 was clean and stayed close to dragon for the first couple sectors and then drafted by him before bus stop on Lap 1. Dragon and Nepalii got close in bus stop and enabled me to jump out to a 1.4 second lead at the line and get them out of my slipstream.

For almost the entire stint (first 16 laps) I kept the gap between 2 and 3 seconds while Dragon and Nepalii battle for second sometimes and bump drafted/cooperated other times to catch up.

During practice I could run 1'42 and 143s consistently but at around lap 16-17 the tires just fell off the cliff. I took 16 very conservative and lost about 1 second and planned to do the same on lap 17 as I could really charge on new tires / light fuel in practice. However, exiting turn 1 I checked the gap in my mirror and next thing I knew I was head on with the inside wall. Not really sure what happened as the turn angle was not that extreme, but I must have been on the gas too strong for those rear tires. Turned a 1.5 second lead into a 10 second deficit in one mistake with damage to front left messing up the next couple sectors.

Pitted after lap 17 as planned behind Nepalii and Dragon pitted on lap 18. After lap 19 Dragon and Nepalii were even and I was 8 seconds behind. I was hoping they would battle a bit and allow me to catch the draft. Nepalii must have had some trouble because I caught and passed him on lap 23 with Dragon still 6 seconds ahead. At this point if Nepalii and I had worked together I'm pretty sure we would have had a good chance on closing the gap on Dragon, but on lap 24 I overshot a corner, got grass on my tires and immediately overshot the last corner before the straight into more grass. I must have spun 3 times trying to get the junk off my tires and back on track. That put me 32 seconds behind Dragon and 25 behind Nepalii.

At that point no chance to overtake anyone so I just settled into safe mid/low 1'43 laps and waited to see if anyone made a big mistake. Nobody did and basically ran by myself until the end. Gap pretty much stayed the same to Dragon (it fluctuated from 28-31), but I cut about 12 seconds off the gap to Nepalii. I assume he was just nursing his car to the end also.

Anyway, very good race marred by a couple stupid mistakes on my part. First due to tires and still a bit of mystery and the other was just 100% driver error and threw away any remaining (but slim) chance at the win.

The race will be torture if you don't get some track time. This track is much more technical than Daytona. Are there other drivers in the series without the DLC? The rest of us should schedule some practice times that others can join.

I'll pitch in... I'll take Thursday night and a North American friendly time:

Practice Session for Spa
Date: Thursday, November 3
Start: 8:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM Pacific[/B]
End: 1:30 AM Eastern / 10:30 PM Pacific[/B].
Where: GTP_WRP001's private lounge

I won't be able to run myself all that time, but I'll have Spa setup with normal series race settings so anyone on my friends list can join and practice. (If you see me and get no response to text messages just assume I'm not at my PS3 -- I'm probably going to be running toward the later half of the session).

Come and go as you please. We'll run mostly free run practice, but if there is interest we can do a few 6-8 lap practice races to work out draft adjustments, etc.

I will enable mics as well so if you have one feel free to use it.

Add me (GTP_WRP001) to your PSN friends list if you're not already there and you want to join the lounge.

Maybe someone else could take other nights this week and/or an EU friendly time slot for those without the DLC.

Note: I host another race series on Wed nights so if I'm in my lounge that night it won't be for this series.

I'll leave my lobby setup with Spa as the default as well so anyone can come and go as they please.

Wednesdays are unavailable though, as Myself and WRP001 run a race series that basically ties up my PS3 from 2PM eastern - 12 am.

I will try and make it to your lounge that day. And as hydro stated I will also set my lounge up to default on spa for anybody in this series to race on it. so if you don't have it and i'm not on your friends list, go ahead and add me. can't wait to race with everyone again.

I logged a 2.15.379 around Spa on the DS3 , just for a simple baseline run with the car .

Final times will be much quicker i'm sure , 2.12's or 2.13's perhaps ?

Anybody had a drive around yet or any times to share?

I'm at 2:16s. I have some work to do!

Just a very few laps around Spa ever for me. After a few laps I'm running low 2'16s, but still using transmission setup for Fuji and have a long way to go in optimizing my lines. Still trying to remember which turns follows which as I've never run this course in any game. :dunce: Hope to get another session in before our practice on Thursday.

Plenty more time to come then . 👍
I've known the layout & quirks on this track since I was 12 when I first drove it on an F1 simulator game on a Commodore Amiga . Many years ago now lol .

There's definitely more time to come then . 👍

great video man, probably coulda ran a faster lap at the end of the race but didn't want to risk spinning out or burning my tires up to stay out front, you definitely could of had it if you didn't spin out for me haha.

Did about 15 mins of prac at spa mainly getting a top speed on my tranny down and ran a 2.14.921. i'll get back to it as my lsd needs some work and got some individual gears to tune. maybe i'll have to tune suspension too so i don't burn my tires off in 6 laps. could be looking at a 2 stop if i wanna run fast.

Great vid WRP . 👍

also checked out the pit situation here, seems to me you won't really have to worry about speeding as the entrance is right there coming off the last chicane. and the exit i'm hoping i'll be able to have control of the wheel soon enough to not go out of the short white lines.

That's correct yep . No chance of speeding here . 👍

The exit seems ok to me , a little flick of power oversteer on cold tyres is normal & the car is pointing straight on release anyway . The trick is just keeping the car straight for a couple of seconds and not crossing over the lines to the actual racing line , which is the slowest route you could take anyway .

I did a 15 lap run tonight & with my setup it is possible to 1 stop here . But with the tyres dropping off by a second a lap I would say 2 stop would be the way to go .
I've got a bit bored of 1 stopping recently so to make it more exciting i'll do 2 & see what happens . :)

Anyone who does a 1 stop & wins here should earn the title of this seasons best driver . When your tyres are that far gone it's like driving on ice , so it's the safer route for me . 👍

No new times to report here , but I had a productive test session . :)

You have to hold wheel to right while still under AI control or it ejects you onto track outside white line when exiting. Kind of dumb... They should have left in AI control a moment longer until straight or given control earlier. In any case you have to be ready and even then not going over line is tricky. If you are on track and see someone exiting best to stay on far left.

I just saw the race length is 30 laps!!! Going to be an endurance race of 1 hour 10 minutes... Fine with me 👍

Honestly wish we were running racing hards here as mediums make a few sections "less exciting" as you can easily go flat out thru eau rouge and last left. Much tougher to do on hards. Maybe after 6-7 laps of tire wear it will take some finesse.

Couple obvious places to take advantage of off track here too. Obviously eau rouge, but also runoff in sector 2 could be illegally used for advantage.

Hard to police every car every lap, but do we have a deterrent for repeated use of these off track areas? A mistake or two might happen, but regular use should be a penalty.

We might want to create a few pics as to what's legal and not thru eau rouge as the rumbles are super wide. If you run in practice mode PD is actually pretty strict and red flags aggressively thru there for a change.

I got that wrong then , I assumed it was a " Straight " release , oops . On the DS3 it's easy anyway .

Yep , I agree with this statement . Whatever is decided on this issue I will roll with . 👍

As long as you are ready to turn right it's not too bad but it's easy to have left tires over line for a moment. I assume Gamesta will adjust as long as drivers keep to right and get back immediately. Honestly it's hard to remember correct steering angle and the last thing you want to do is spin on exit by over doing it.

Had some more track time and on par with dragon for lap times now. Need a good draft test to get proper setting for final gear, but got it well tuned for solo mode.

A couple real slippery sections of track and very grippy elsewhere. PD must have modeled different grip levels of Tarmac for this track. Exit final chicane too far right and easy to lose traction and same for first right. I guess these are the only true low speed corners on track so probably just lack of downforce, but sure appears to be lower mechanical grip compared to other tracks with similar turns..

Very true , & highly embarrassing .

Good to hear . 👍 Same issue here too , I will finalise it tomorrow depending on how I envisage the race playing out . If I fall behind then having more room on the 'box is pretty useless I think .

Yeah i'd agree with that . The kerbs especially demand serious respect and some of them can be very tricky to ride safely . I've seen guys just get chewed up & spat into the wall for going to wide on exit on some of them.
