I am non bias and extremely open minded so dont think I am bashing the other games but dang GOW really is the next generation in gaming!
CAMAROBOY69
Those that have not played this game as a co-op should not reply with an opinion at all.
CAMAROBOY69
If you havent played through on insane then your opinion of GOW doesnt count
Gosh darn, that IS very open-minded of you! Unless you like the game enough to want to complete it a second time on the most difficult setting, then your opinion doesn't count? That's not being open-minded - that's what's commonly called being a fanboy - when you can't even tolerate a dissenting opinion of what you like.

Of course, maybe you were being sarcastic in which case I apologise and you can ignore what I just said.

I've had it for the past few days and I can't see what all the "OMG GOW!" hubbub is all about. It's a good shooter with some great graphics and some nice touches and I'm really enjoying it so far, but I haven't found truly exceptional or groundbreaking about the gameplay, which is what really matters. Granted I haven't tried the co-op mode which sounds pretty cool, but it's still going to be pretty much the same game with the same gameplay, the same controls the same weapons, etc., right?

I didnt mean it to come out that way but GOW was built for the co-op. If you want I would even be willing to join you for a few games since it has the drop in drop out co-op option that no other game has ever had. I am definetly not a fanboy of any game. And in all honesty I have really been enjoying more about RSV than GOW especially the multiplayer. But GOW was built for the co-op gameplay. It would be like someone playing only the arcade in GT4 and then saying the game was boring. Sorry if my reply sounded close minded. I really am non-bias and very open minded toward everything and every game. :)

It is the only game that will give GOW some competition. Will it actually steal the spot light from GOW? No way. GOW will definetly get GOTY and RSV will be possibly be in 2nd or 3rd place.

Just thought of this: what about Zelda? Tons of people are saying TP is almost as good as Ocarina of Time.

GOW by far has the best graphics of any game on any system up to this day.
By far?

Oblivion on my PC looks at least as impressive, moreso probably, than Gears of War. I haven't seen Oblivion's graphics on Xbox, but it's probably much the same as on a decent gaming PC.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not going anywhere near online gaming with the Xbox until I get reasonably good at the games. I'm not used to the analog sticks for shooters, and I'm a bit crap.

But if and when I get the hang of it, I might take you up on the offer.

edit: BTW, my lack of ability with the analog sticks is probably not helping my enjoyment of the game. I generally play shooters on PC, and I'm just not used to these damned sticks! If I could aim with a mouse, I'd be having a lot more fun!

Well, I saw a comparison once that showed Oblivion on the 360 and Oblivion at maximum settings on a PC. They were pretty much the same, with the 360 having the edge in some things, and the PC had some advantages as well.

Go onto GameSpot or IGN and look at some 360 Oblivion screens.

Yeah, looks pretty much the same as it is on my PC (though it's hard to say how in-game footage compares from screenshots). From the few screens I've found so far, it looks like antialiasing isn't available on the Xbox 360 version of Oblivion, and I can't get it on my own PC without turning HDR off. Apparently it's possible to get it alongside HDR on high-end ATI cards, but not on nVidia cards, and I've got a 7600GT so it looks pretty much identical to it on my PC.

We're getting a bit off-topic here, but suffice to say that as pretty as Gears of War, it's definitely not in a league of it's own when it comes to graphics.

edit: Don't take my previous posts in this thread too personally CAMAROBOY, I'm just getting a bit fed up of fanboyish posts in the light of the recent launch of the Wii and PS3, and people getting all unnecessarily emotional about their favorite current system and/or games. Your recent post in this thread implies that you're not quite the fanboy I originally accused you of.

It might have the best chance of beating GoW, but do you think it actually will?

Lets look at it this way:

- Gears of War will probably win "Game of the Year" in the "Overall" category
- Rainbow Six: Vegas will probably win "Game of the Year" for the 360 category should Gears take the top honors.
- TOCA 3 or Far Cry will probably take "Game of the Year" for XBOX
- Resistance will take "Game of the Year" for the PS3
- FFXII will easily take "Game of the Year" for PS2
- Zelda will probably take "Game of the Year" for Wii
- Harvest Moon will probably take "Game of the Year" for GC

In the specialty categories:

- Rainbow Six will probably take "Best Shooter"
- TDU probably has "Best Racer" in the bag
- GoW will probably get best "Action/Adventure"
- FFXII will get "Best RPG"
- Winning Eleven will get "Best Sports"
- GoW will probably get the "Pretty" award
- Resistance my get "Best Sound," if not, GoW
- Project 8 will probably get "Best Licensed Soundtrack"
- Wii Sports will probably get "Most Innovative"

...thats about all I can think of on the consoles...

OMFG! Not since craving F.E.A.R. have I wanted a game as bad! I was skeptical of how good this game was and the amount of Hype it was getting but after playing it... **** me. I don't usually say this but this is the first game I can undoubtedly say is worthy of the amount of hype it's gotten. Wow... So much that, the day after playing it I got a 360. Ugh. Luckily, it was cheap at $200 but I'm having second thoughts about opening it and keeping it. It's still pissing me off that they won't be making a PC version where it belongs. 👎:grumpy:

Anyway, This game will keep the 360 afloat as long as there are more people like me.This will definitely get awards and other games will be chasing it. With that said there's been a lot of hype about RSV which I can't imagine will do better than GoW but I'll just have to try it out. If there are other games that look just as good it won't have the kick ass UI controls or the flexibility of what the character can pull off.

You should have seen the final of the WGL (Irish LAN event) GoW tounament. It was BRILLIANT. 14 rounds, 40 mins, tension to behold. The clan I'm in (TWR) against a rival clan. Unfortunately, we lost, but it was a game to behold. Amazing.......

Yeah I really hate EA. I think a lot of people didn't buy the game because they knew it would be really buggy like BF2, but so far it is fine and they have released patches to correct any issues which is good. Also the game is a lot more fun if you play with a clan....because you actually get to use some teamwork lol.

I'm glad you like it and that it's helping people play more like a team. Something that was badly needed.

Honestly mate, I'm scared to put faith in another BF game and get stung like I did with BF:V and BF2. After BF:V I was negative but I still worked myself up to buy BF2. When BF2 turned out the way it did I just called it quits on BF franchise. Kinda like twice bitten infinetly shy. I have hopes for Kaos developer's baby: Frontlines: Fuel Of War. I heard that Frank Delise is running the studio and since his team, Trauma, is behind the Desert Combat mod, I have great hopes.:)

I just got this game and wow, this game is amazing. The graphics are so beautiful and the online mode is very fun! I'll have fun until Halo 3 comes out.

Well, my friend and I completed the Co-op portion today. We started on Mon. We were both a little dissappointed. I'm very dissappointed considering once again this IS a $65 game. Oh well, there's always one on one where I can kick his ass, or going online. We are going though it now on Hardcore. I still also have to play the single player mode. There's definitely sequels on the way, that's pretty clear. Yay, another $60! I can't wait...

In the meantime I still have Halo for the PC I've been working on.

If you look GRAW got the true GOTY, because if you watch the trailer for GRAW 2 it says GOTY.

Duċk;2506865
I dunno. Who'd you rather trust, a GRAW 2 trailer or the Video Game Awards themselves?

picture1ib9.png

G.R.A.W. is a nominee however.
But if I remember right the true GOTY award is British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). But Spike TV is not like a ture GOTY, but an unofficial one I reckon.

That's Spike TV. What the hell do they know about video games? They only use the VGAs as an excuse to have celebrities come and sing.

I'd rather actually watch G4.

I dunno. Since the clientele that still actually watches that network is the shallowest of the shallow, I'd say GPhoria is the biggest waste of television ever. If there is a Halo in the running? GOTY. A Madden? Sports game of the year. Its truly sad to see that it essentially boils down to which game sold the most.

To be honest, I don't trust either of them anymore. Spike, simply put, is a channel devoted for those guys who hated in high school. You know, the ones who played football, "played videogames," and was "good at it." I wouldn't touch those awards with a ten-foot pole, and the same can be said of G4. Sure, they are probably the only "credible" media source on TV when it comes to videogames, but given that they have pretty much given that up to become "Spike TV for Nerds," they aren't worth it anymore either.

You know who I'll trust in this situation? I'll cross reference IGN, GameSpot, and EGM. Chances are, they will all come up with similar answers, and a good guess is that GoW gets "Game of the Year." Sure, I'm pulling for Rainbow Six now, but I'm still confident that GoW gets it in the end.

Oh yeah definetly play through on hardcore and insane. You will appreciate the game much more on those settings. Especially if you want to try it on insane. Probably take you around 12-14 hours. Its much more difficult and enjoyable on insane. The multiplayer gets boring very fast but the co-op is definetly very enjoyable on inane. Casual is basically a tutorial to get you ready for insane.

I tried demos of RBV as well as Splinter Cell and while I liked SC a little better control and feature wise GoW seems to be on a whole different level. I don't see how they or any other game can compete with such a complete game that GoW is. The only way I see it losing is because it's so short (at least in Co-op).

I need to start playing this again but I just dont like the multiplayer as much as the co-op campaign. I have put way more hours into RSV. I will also probably play through the co-op in GOW quite a few more times after christmas. Its a campaign that I have no problem playing over and over again. You must play through on hardcore or insane to truly enjoy GOW.
