Getting Smoked in Sport Mode like I'm standing still.

I've read thru the tuning guides to try and be somewhat competetive but it seems I am missing something very basic here. I qualified 9th in Daily Race B with the atenza GR4. I was in last place by the first turn and cars behind me are passing me like I'm standing still. There has to be something very basic I am missing, no? Almost all the cars were out of sight by turn 2. Why the vast difference in performance? Thanks.

Could you provide a video? Both consoles constantly record gameplay, so it's just a matter of getting the right bit, putting it on a flash drive, and uploading it to YouTube.

If there's something basic, it'll be obvious from the video!

Man, I'm just trying to race some GT in my spare time. Been pouring over the tuning guides and trying to make the car go. I don't even know where to begin with recording a video and getting it on a flash drive and then to you tube. I'm 54 and technology is starting to leave me in the dust. I cuss at my stupid email.

"Does it not seem weird that I could qualify 9th in the field and be left behind by the entire grid before the first turn?"

Unfortunately you're driving what is considered the best car for the event, an event with -somewhat- equal performance for cars and no tuning allowed.

Without a video it's impossible to know why cars would be that much faster than you, other than your pedals aren't working properly.

I do have to run a drivehub to make my equipment work and there does seem to be a frame rate drop or something else that causes lag. But the difference in car speed is very significant. I'll try and work on a video

If you're on a PS5 it's not so difficult, assuming you have a Youtube account.

Go into Settings - Users and Accounts - Linked Accounts and sign into Youtube via that menu.

When the problem happens in the race, double tap the share button (left hand side of the controller) this will create a clip of your last 30 seconds of gameplay.

Press the PS button to open your menu, you should see your new video clip as one of the menu items that pop up. Press the share icon on screen (arrow pointing right) and then select to upload to Youtube.

You can then paste the link in a post on here once it's done.

Appreciate it's still a list of things to do but at least they've made it easier than ever.

Here is the video of the almost first lap. Not great quality, that's for sure. Race starts at about 1:35.

Check your fuel map - scroll through the radar/laptime/traction control screens in the MFD (left/right d-pad buttons on controller, elsewhere depending on your wheel) until you reach the green one. It should be at 1 in any race without fuel consumption, and it looks like you're running 4-6 which reduces engine power dramatically.

I'm on Fuel Map 1 and all assists are turned off except ABS and tcs which is at 1. This time I qualified 4th and I was passed by all cars by the end of the first lap.

What's this about?

I am not sure what that is since all my assists are turned off. I see what you're saying tho. I don't even have any brake applied and the ABS is lit. Is that stability control?

No that's ABS. Isn't the Atenza 4WD? If so turn TC off, i am meat fingered and use the X button and don't need TC with AWD cars. All you need is ABS Default.

That's not the issue though, they are vanishing off into the distance. Do you need an oil change? As asinine as that is it may be it but i think it's a hardware issue, try another controller./

I will look into the oil change but I just got the car so I doubt that's it. I use a fanatec wheel system with drive hub. Don't have any other choices for a controller. Regular controller doesn't interest me in a driving game. I've got a rig and want to be able to use it.

How do you get 1min40 in qualification and your first lap was going to be something like 2min ?
That's what I was thinking something that is happening in race but not in qualify.

BUT he could have gotten the time before the problem started at which point he needs to think about any changes hes made since.

But lol that's crazy they are straight up leaving dude in the dust.

Check out the drivehub thread in hardware section, it seems others are having same issue and there’s a new firmware update for drivehub that fixes your issue

That is ABS, when it is on default or weak it will show. When ABS is disabled it will be a solid yellow all the time.

There don't appear to be any assists running and the car is supremely slow on the straights, that is a bizarre one. Fuel map looks the be the only culprit outside of a really rare game bug. Unless there is something else I'm missing

This is being stubborn. The guys here are trying to assist you to diagnose the issue. If you use your dualsense/ds4 and the issue vanishes, you will know that it's related to your wheel setup. Other than that, it's just a guessing game.

It's like this is his first GT game or he'd know an oil change does wonders to horsepower figures.
