I think it's the control arms he is breaking from those hits, not axles.
 
So I just found a Replay of the X-games, and am now fully caught up. I found it amusing how they constantly described Sebastien Loeb as a "Rookie"..
 
Well, he is. It was his first race in the GRC.
 
Good news: many of the complaints about the 2012 season was lack of actual rallycross courses and lack of the global part. Now, however, there should be plenty of them mixed with...well...we'll see if the NASCAR tracks throw down some dirt and now it's truly a global championship. The 2013 Season consists of 9 rounds started at X-Games Brazil on 4/21, and ending at an undisclosed location. The schedule is:

1. X-Games Brazil - 4/21
2. X-Games Spain - 5/19
3. X-Games Germany - TBA
4. New Hamshipre Motor Speedway, London, NH - TBA
5. Bristol Motor Speedway, Bristol, TN - TBA
6. X-Games LA/US - TBA
7. Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta GA - TBA
8. Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC - TBA
9. TBD

This year looks to be a better season. Brazil also looks like a beautiful place, the course is very nice. Looking forward to tomorrow! 👍

Does anybody know if GRC is being shown in the UK? If not, is there anywhere to stream it online?

I don't know....but I wanna see it.

Also, if you have an Xbox 360, you can stream X-Games Brazil. Unfortunately, it's only available to certain cable providers. So, check the list they provide.

Who knows but ill be there to watch! I'm assuming they will use pit roads too. By the way the Bristol date is July 20th, tickets are already on sale since I bought some the day they came out.
 
They have the track maps available on the GRC site. Next to each of the events in the event list is what the course will be.
 
Four venues on the East coast, one West, and the Mid-west and Southwest get a big F-U.
 
So are we going to have a legit Rally Driver just own everyone this year (Gronholm), like last, or is it going to be closer?

Race is tomorrow, not sure what time exactly. Scott Speed qualifying 2nd in his first ever attempt at Rallycross is impressive. Nelson Piquet Jr. qualifying 4th is just as good.

They're probably feeling threatened by the European Rallycross Championship, which is a much more traditional championship, and is getting recognised as a World Championship by the FIA in 2014.
 
Didn't even notice this thread. Love the look of the schedule , though curious at what they will for Bristol.

Also impressed at who has turned up for the race and who qualified, looking forward to seeing what they do. Lots of drivers to root for.

IF you go to the website, it shows a lay out of the actually tracks and how they are being run. I really thing Bristol might be one of the better ones as they have used dirt there before with sprint cars but I think the turns might allow some high speed sliding. Last year's events didn't really do all that well even in person at Charlotte was kind of thrown together but now they aren't rushing it (It's almost May before schedule was out) and they have had time to get thigns setup.

Liam surprises me more than Speed does honestly. He has had trouble with his new cars but Speed/Piquet have talent in all things they have raced and they run ALOT of kart races in Mooresville so I think that helps car control which that's really all rallycross is about.

Round 1 is live. Liam Doran was on the bad end of a squeeze play by Toomas "Rough-love" Hikeninen on the first corner. It also caught Block out, but Block was able to brake before he got into too much trouble. Doran, however, slid out to the dirt on the outside and got stuck, costing him the race.

Next Heat features BOTH the Darts, Deagan and the Mitsubishi Evo (Piquet Jr.).

Mostly uneventful other than Piquet jumping the start and having to serve a penalty in the new penalty box (Thank you Toomas for warranting the need for this. There were a couple others last season with some dirty racing, but Toomas seemed to make it a profession.) Deagan won, Pastrana second, Piquet Jr. 3rd and Menzies in last.

If you believe that then you really have no idea, Scott might not be great in NASCAR or F1 but he has some talent. Nelson Piquet is a hidden gem who has won in multiple cars, series and still learning.
 
It's three Fords and a Peugeot for Heat three with Fous, Arpin, Sandell and Neves battling it out. With Foust and Arpin taking first and second respectfully. Sandell third and Neves in the Peugeot last.

In the first, corner, Neves got into the back of Sandell and spun himself around.

It should be noted that, I believe, other than the Imprezas and the Evo X, I think all the cars are 2013 models. Makes me wonder if Dodge will toss Team Pastrana the SRT4 for next year.
 
If the Peugeot is a 206 as it says above, then it's several years out of date.
 
It maybe a 106. I'm not entirely sure. The GRC site just says "Peugeot."

Final Heat of Round 1: Two VW Polos vs. Ford Fiesta vs. Peugeot. Buddy Rice, Scott Speed, Marquez and Marklund.

Final Results: Scott Speed won after Rice clipped him on the first corner, spinning him out. Truly an impressive win. Marklund came in second in his VW Polo, followed by teammate Buddy Rice and Marquez in last.

Both Peugeots finished last, but not really due to driver error. Both spun out on the first corner because of chaos ahead of them.
 
Last Chance Qualifying saw a Polo and a Fiesta moving on.

Final Round....LOTS of chaos with 10 cars racing. Contact before the first corner, Tanner Foust recovering from being completely backwards in the first corner. Pastrana and Tanner might be out and even brought out the red flag for a complete restart.

Pastrana is out. I did love what he said about Toomas. "Toby is a REALLY aggressive driver so he was going to take out the fire row." Which explains why he went so wide on the first corner: he didn't want to get anywhere near Toomas after being on the receiving in of that aggressiveness at least twice last year, breaking some axles as a result.

Foust and Block are also out of the race. Rice was damaged pretty badly, too, but they got the Polo back out to the course.

Correction, Rice repaired mechanical damage on the car, which isn't allowed during red flag, so, Rice is also out.

And Scott Speed sneaks by Toomas on the final corner and steals away gold. Sandell came in third.

Speed's last lap pass was pretty epic. Great racing, great round. Nice to see a GRC course that's mostly dirt, too. Round 2 is in Spain. X-Games will be there starting May 16th, so, if the pattern holds up, Round 2 will be on the 19th at 1:30 EST.
 
Some great racing, some of the best action I've this weekend. Great win for Scott Speed, very impressive for someone that has never raced on dirt nor in an 4WD car.
 
Last lap, last corner pass for the win. Being a fan of his, and knowing he hadn't raced on dirt before, I wasn't sure how well he would do. Especially since he was in the guest car.

Honestly that was probably one of the best courses they have actually had built. If they could have kept the dust down a little more, it would have been perfect.

Meh, it was that redish sort of dirt so Dust was always going to be an issue. Maybe the course at the next X-Games event won't be so thick.

Why would it always been an issue? I don't think they allowed enough watering of the track. You can't run over it a few times when it's hot out and expect water to keep dust down. They needed to some how soak it slowly over time before the first race (granted it could easily went from powder to mud in a hurry too).

I just think that caused issues with some folks.
