Using the same basic course layout from last year, just looks like the joker part is different.

Essentially it is the same course, just the joker lap is moved and the turn before is more narrow.

Results from heat 3:

Moving On:
Tanner Foust
Sverre Iverson

Moved to LCQ:
Travis Pastrana
Bryce Menzies

So there is a development series that debuted today, using what looks like as far as I can tell a slightly slower spec Ford Fiesta.

Anyhow, the guys moving on from the LCQ:

Travis Pastrana
Scott Speed
Bucky Lasek

Which makes this lineup for the final:

Ken Block
Brain Deegan
Toomas Heikkinan
Patrick Sandel
Sverre iverson
Tanner Foust
Travis Pastrana
Scott Speed
Bucky Lasek

Today could just end up being Ken Block's day, if he can hold back Foust and Deegan that is, along with those other huge names.

Today is the first time I've ever seen any racing action in the Global Rally Championship. Without spoiling the action from Loudon, Tanner Foust (who I vastly respect) just had a heartbreaking fail in the final corner. He was going to win the race until he lost control of his Ford Fiesta under braking at the final corner. Tough break for T. Foust.

Cool stuff. Glad to finally see one of these events. All I saw was just the Final.

Was not expecting that to happen at all, looked like Foust had it locked.

Well next week is when the series will race at Bristol. Not sure how (which should be interesting) but that's where they are going.

Same here. Majorly bummed he lost the race like that.

At first I thought he locked up and accidentally turned the wrong direction, but then when he was interviewed, he made it clear it was more of a grip issue and so yes he locked up but since he lost grip on the right side of the car, it gave way and sent him the wrong direction in to the hairpin.

If he went in the right way, he would of had a a chance of still taking it away or taking 2nd, despite the hard crash.

It was still a heartbreaking fail for Tanner Foust. This is more like Lady Luck slapping you in the face or kicking you... *down there.* I am going to be very interested to see how the GRC will utilize Bristol and how races will like there on that configuration. It should be fun for these rally cars to take on Bristol.

I saw the Final to the Bristol race. I sure liked seeing five-wide there early on! The track layout was pretty cool for these cars. I like the little slalom leading to that big jump.

In person was even better to be honest. It was nuts to see the cars get sideways coming out of nascar 2 before they made their way to the jump.

The ONLY downside to do the day is no one seems to know how to run an autograph session at GRC (I've been to two races at two tracks, some weird issues with no one really knowing). It sucked not having Pastrana there but I liked seeing Bryce outfront as I have followed him for few years now, Block was a class act even if we waited forever. I ended up getting both posters for this year from him which I was stoked on.

Just a reminder that tomorrow at 5pm EDT is the finals for GRC at X-Games Los Angeles. Although, to be more technical, it's GRC at Irwindale Speedway.

That's just under 23 1/2 hours from this post.

While I know it's not exactly Rallycross, Gymkhana Grid is going on right now on ESPN.

First time I've ever watched something like that, man was it cool! I can't wait for the big Rally Cross race tomorrow.

I think I may have just seen the happiest third place ever

I was not expecting the event to be that exciting with the track laid-out the way it was. It looked like a simple layout, but I guess it proves that the drivers make the race, not the track, and especially not the jumps that they hyped up not so long ago.

Mhm! Some very happy podium finishers. Very chaotic race with all that debris everywhere! There were a few times Foust purposely hit some debris to get it out of the way.

I must say though, I wasn't a big fan of the track. In fact most of the tracks they have raced at have not been all that great. I can't say I flat out hate any of them, but especially since this was part of the X-Games, there really needs to be bigger jumps, and a higher % of dirt on the track(s).

Past X-Games Rallycross races were in the Home Depot center I believe, and so they had much more to work with. When the tracks were there, they had really sick jumps and great technical layouts. I really wish all the the GRC venues allowed for similar tracks. It doesn't help that they stop mainly at NASCAR speedways.

I really enjoy the racers and their cars, but the tracks, and to a lesser extent the short amount of laps and track lengths, kinda bug me about this series. It's probably asking for too much change though.

This expresses my opinion of the post race pretty well.
She has a nice ass.

Seriously, The track was not the best but the racing certainly made it better. They have been changing the track for the last 2 or 3 years. At least they won't have to worry about finding a race track for it in LA next year as they are no longer going there for X-games. Hopefully at COTA next year they have more jumps in the track.

This.

The problem with their current idea is they are using race tracks which hauling in that much dirt is a pain and some tracks won't allow that much. Granted I like a mix of it all but with more dirt if they can.

I'm pretty bummed this year as both Pastrana/Menzies aren't showing what they could do, and Ken is still struggling. The Fords hands down are class of the field and I'm surprised to see a Subaru in 3rd which they lack alot of things if you ask me.

The next round of GRC will be going down at 6:30 ET on ESPN2. That's in half an hour.
