Looks like unreliability again, car is still fairly new to competition so that's to be expected.
 
It did look sluggish off the line on both attempts.

Deegan out quicker in the LCQ than he was in the heat race.
 
The aggression in that LCQ...wow. The definition of Checkers or wreckers.
 
Isachsen thinks Piquet wrecked him intentionally but after looking at it, Piquet was blocked. He was driving straight and Isachsen just dove into him.

Edit: Following a review by the stewards, Piquet will not be in the final, Isachsen will instead. However, he has been assessed a huge fine for his reaction.

Glad to see Ken finally win one of these. He just seemed snake bit everytime he got in the final.
 
I like Tanner Foust and Travis Pastrana, but all congratulations to Ken Block. I also sort of spared a thought for Toomas Heikkinen. Heikkinen is beast in the Global Rally Championship, but didn't end up on the podium after this race. Did any of you see coverage of that GRC Lites race? That Joni Wiman person won every race of the GRC Lites this season. Wiman looks to be the next best thing in the GRC if and when Wiman steps up to the main class.

I also read this series is going to get title sponsorship fron Red Bull. So it's great to see this series get some more exposure and sponsor dollars moving forward. Part of me actually wants to see these cars take on some more proper off-roading locales. I don't know if they would fare well at tracks like (for example) what the Lucas Oil Off-Road Series race at or something like that. The GRC does have a pretty good future. How far ahead remains to be seen.

I didn't either. With them getting into Formula E, I didn't think they would expand out of that and Indycar.
 
I wonder who they are going to have for drivers?

Sep. 19-20: Los Angeles, CA
Sep. 26-27: Seattle, WA
Nov. 5: Las Vegas, NV

Needless to say, this is a season that the GRC will hope be a momentous and breakout season. Getting some monetary support from Red Bull will help this series go a long way. This is a cool series. Go see some race clips of the GRC online or something to get an idea of this series.

GRC is finally coming to DC!!! Dreams do come true!!! I will be there FOR ABSOLUTE SURE!!
on another note, time to dump some money into my RC rallycross cars
 
I think the fact that less rounds are outside of America will help the series (and take it out of direct competition with World Rallycross). I don't see why it's still called "Global" rallycross though...
 
uh, idk, something to do with the drivers and manufacturers being global or something

I am stunned. I was under the impression that the Polos were gonna be the car of choice, I did not see this coming and the driver line up is also a huge surprise. I'm guessing Tanner isn't as loyal to Ford as I thought.

That's a cool newer Volkswagen New Beetle! I wasn't expecting this car to be used either, RACECAR. So you're not the only one stunned.
 
I really like this car. And I say that as a Chevy/Ford rally fan. Sadly, I won't be able to do an RC version of this but no matter. Sounds like a punching lineup and I'm very excited about this new season.
PS. Part of me thinks that History should've stepped up and backed Tanner's car or at the very least have logos on both cars. Just my .02

I thought the Beetle looked a bit basic/underdeveloped compared to some of the other cars but there is a good reason for that, the car won't be used until Austin in June and they will use a Polo before then, which I presume will be the same as the Marklund Motorsport cars.

Honestly, I think it looks ridiculous. When I first saw it, I thought it was a Photoshop job.

Mind you, I think this entire series is ridiculous. It is going to have a hard time competing against World Rallycross.
