Salinas speedway in puerto rico. Been there a couple of times and was always amused to see POS cars run less than 8 sec 1/4 miles. Here is a pretty good collection of videos.

I have seen a couple of them launching so hard not only do the tyres move in the rim but the crank bends so much after the pass you can see the twist marks.

Yeah, funny how puny little hatches with their teeny weeny engines run there with big block and beat them.. :D

lol, At the lights you would look at it and think looks like nothing, you can easily smoke it..... then your jaw hits the floor....

yeah.. that thing probably has more power AND torque than weight.. Kp6x Starlets weight only 800kg from factory.. strip it and replace all possible parts with modern materials and you get comfortably under ~600kg. Add a Rotary engine ( 13B's can be pushed beyond 850bhp nowadays ), and you have a monster, ready to put big block V8's in shame..

That's encroaching on NHRA Pro Stock times and trap speeds.

This class really is where the creativity is coming in in modern drag racing, now that the NHRA Pro classes have become clearly defined.

The methanol funny cars will do the 1/4 mile in about 6.5 seconds iirc. Though they have a higher speed at the trap. They have 3,000 bhp, too....Those Starlets aren't far behind that, quick. Trying to think what the 'street' cars do...

agreed. then again, if those rumors are true, Toyota is working together with Subaru in order to bring back cheap, little RWD car..

I like this better though

A 12a!

I don't care how fast those are--rotaries make the worst noise ever. Even ricer Civics sound better. :yuck:

True, but remember that there some people *coughmyself* who don't like the whine of Formula 1 cars. Different strokes for different folks.

Are you serious!? Each to their own I guess.

Quite serious, I just hate the noise they make. But, that's what makes the world go 'round. :D

he's just annoyed because it beats big blocks..:sly:

Truth be told I don't like big block noises either. Give me a small block 6/8 cylinder, flat 4/6, or inline engine noise. Those are what "floats my boat". :sly:

I love the noise an F1 car makes, I just can't stand watching them race. Put that engine or one like it in a street car and then we'll be talking about some awsomeness.

What is all this nonsense about what engine sounds best? In my opinion every engine in any vehicle sounds amazing. No engine sound annoys me. I love me some cars. :)
Coming to think about it, no engine on any vehicle annoys me. Really.

Also, Puerto Rico has the fastest rotaries in the world. This and other reasons make me proud of being Puertorican. 👍:D

You city slickers wouldn't know a tractor if you heard one. Mostly, they sound like trucks (lorries) because they share engines with them. Old tractors sound either like older gasoline truck/lorries, or a consistent "Putt" every 1/2 second. (trademark John Deere)
