Practice, Practice, Practice !

Took me about 50 goes to get it with DS3 sensitivity on 2.
I normally have sensitivity on 0 for everything else.
You'll get there buddy, it's just frustrating and feels like you'll never do it, but you will;)

I've tried at least 20 times with the DS3...and only managed silver with 1 second short.
After I took my wheel out, I was 2,5 seconds faster then my DS3 time.

Just don't try to push it too much, set a proper ghost and everytime try to be just a fraction faster.

Thanks for the Feedback, will start out fresh again tomorrow and try driving slowly (How do you do that)

I'd agree with all the advice above:

Change controller sensitivity: I normally use 2 but set it to -2 for this so movement is more controllable (some people find increasing it to 5 or 7 to help but I couldn't cope with it that sensitive);

Initially just aim to get to the finish line to give yourself a ghost to chase;

Forget about the time..just focus on clean laps.

Have a look at the videos section for videos of this event and closely watch the speedo to see what entry speeds you should be aiming for, where you need to brake etc...I watched a couple when I was struggling and realised I was braking too much

When I first tried this, I gave up on it as "mission impossible" but, the next day, I was determined to do it. My first 5-10 attempts ended after the first corner when I span out going too quick, I then had a couple of attempts where I got past the last corner only to hit the wall and get DQ'd. I finally managed a completed time and it was only a second off gold....the very next attempt I improved my ghost by 1.5 seconds to get gold.

Just relax...the more worked up and annoyed you get, the more likely you are to fail. If you are making errors, then take a break from it and do something else or another event, then go back. Believe me when I say if I can get the gold on this event with a DS3, then anyone can get it! I wish you luck

Start SLOWWWWWWWWWW. Build up your speed over several tries at it. Also, Look further ahead and anticipate. remember that car is a rocket off the line so you don;t need to carry loads of speed through the bendy parts....The speed will come all by itself.

I dont know how but i managed to gold this on first try without never driven a redbull car before:D (ok i took one retry after messing in start) I just drove and decided to set a base time but i got gold from it :boggled:

I think the time limit is not difficult but driving the car and keeping it on the track is. You can drive into corners really really fast but if you brake too late too late youll slip out. One thing you shuold really try is to set suggested gear indicator on so you know how fast you should drive the next corner.

I hate to admit this, but I simply gave up on this one. I have tried it every way possible, and managed to get silver, but I think I'm quite a bit behind gold. It'll stay silver. I think it just depends on your driving style. I have gold on every other race, and didn't have that much trouble with the Kart's. I think 6 races in total gave me hell on GT6, the rest were pretty easy honestly, but this one, forget it. I have a thread about it if you'd like to read what advice others gave me.

Idk Why people have such a hard
Time with it , you dont need to go full speed , i did it
With TCS off on ds3, try to not Floor THE gas pedal thats it really , the gold time is pretty stretched out

I found using AT helped a lot. Everything happens so fast and not having to think about gear changes means you can just concentrate on steering. Brake early and gently and keep plenty of speed round the bends. It grips the road so well, if you just get your lines right gold comes pretty easily. I found that braking late and hard resulted in either going off, missing apexes or coming to a standstill.

If you have GT5 then try practising the Red Bull challenges.
I found those stupidly difficult with the DS3 but you soon realise the braking points are almost on the turning points.
If you can borrow a wheel from a friend you'll breeze the Goodwood event, I've found with all of the FoS hillclimbs you only need to give it about 80% effort, when you get the gold you'll feel you could have gone even faster.

Couldn't do them in GT5, got bronze on Monza that was it but i got gold on this one.

As others said, use AT and don't try to go 100% you'll be surprised how generous the gold time actually is.
90% will see you comfortably through.

I also put sensitivity at +2 (normally 0)

It's not a time issue. It's keeping it on the black stuff while still going decently fast through the corners. I actually got the bronze pretty easily by simply not crashing. But when I try to go just that little bit faster, I end up losing it or hitting a wall (especially in the 3-rd to last corner).

A little tip though: I actually got to understand this car better after doing the X2014 junior challenges. That small formula car corners at incredible speeds and allows you to brake unbelievably late - just like its big brother. Of course there's the speed difference, but the idea is there. It basically gives you confidence to push the big one harder.

If you are using a DS3 controller, try putting the sensitivity to -2. I normally use +2, tried +7 for the event but found the car too sensitive....I went to -2 and, while you have to manhandle it a bit more, I found it much easier to control as controller inputs aren't as harsh so it was easier to keep it straight.

Getting through does take a bit of luck if I'm honest....my first completed run was 1 second off gold (was surprised as I hadn't been really pushing it)..my second completed run (the very next run) was 1.5 seconds faster. After the downhill turn I thought I'd lose it as I had 2 wheels on the grass and figured it would just continue off but slight steering got it back on the track.

The bit of advice I'd give, beyond starting slow to get a ghost then try beating it and don't focus on the time, is:

Practice each corner to work out braking lines, grip etc. My first 5 or 6 attempts ended after the first corner as I overcooked it....then it was the downhill section and I spun off there numerous times as well....the narrow section after was okay as just a case of brake a bit then steer...then the final corner I spun after a few times trying to get the line right. Have you looked at any videos people have uploaded? I found them very helpful to work out which corners I could really push through (corner 1 to some extent and corner 2) and others where I had to be extra cautious (the downhill section, through the narrow bit). In total it took me about 10 minutes of running it over and over to find the right lines etc. Hope you can get it...it is a great feeling to achieve it

Just don't try to push it too much

I would say start with this. My first two maybe three tries I just went nuts, and of course ended up flying off the track. I guess I made the assumption that the final GW challenge in the most ridiculous car would surely require an absurd performance for gold, so I just went all-out trying to take every bit of the track at the absolute limit.

Having flown off the track two or three times, I decided I'd be better off to take it easy, make it to the end, and at least have a time and therefore some idea of how much quicker I'd need to go. My first more laid back attempt, I made it to the end. There were at least a couple of corners where I'd backed off more heavily than I'd intended and exited shaking my head in disgrace. But I crossed the line, and to my surprise easily took gold.

Mind you, I had another crack at it a couple of weeks later, thinking I'd be able to smash that time. I was back to flying off the track. So again I backed off to make it to the end, finished nearly a second off my rubbish record time... still gold. So as far as I can tell, the time required for gold with the RB is really not that challenging, it's more just making it to the end at a reasonable pace. I certainly struggled a lot more with some other cars, where I did have to push things more to the limit.

Of course, this is me with a G27. I don't know what it's like to drive the RB with a DS3, nor am I interested in trying. Fairly sure it would just lead to me being institutionalised.

If you are using a DS3 controller,(...)

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to play on the sensitivity.
As for the videos, don't know: never been a fan of those. Call me snob or stupid, but if I can't manage to "beat the game" by myself, I'd better start playing Guitar Hero or something. The only time I watched a video of someone palying (acing) GT, was for the X2010 in GT5. I simply could not control the beast, especially on the Nürburgring. I then got to watch this video. It only made me understand that I needed a wheel to properly race that car.

The other thing is while the car has absurd braking and cornering abilities, it also accelerates at a ridiculous rate. Even if you're rolling through a corner well below what the car could do on the limit, you're probably still going at a ridiculous speed and you'll be in and out of the corner in a fraction of a second, after which you're back on the throttle accelerating back up to speed an instant later.

It's not like a much lower grip, lower powered, less brakey (shut up, that's a word) road car where braking too early and too hard, carrying that slower speed through the corner and then having to get the thing back up to speed all adds up to a significant chunk of time for just one corner. Sure you'll lose some time, but the penalty isn't as significant with the RB, especially with the rather easy target time for the challenge.

Spent about 45 mins to Gold @ 30.605
I usually have TC set to 0 but moved it up to 2 and set the controller steering sensitivity to -2 with a G25 wheel
Appreciate the advice, thanks for getting me over the line

Excellent! 👍

I hate to say this, but I cheated a bit. My brother has a wheel and he had just finished gettting gold on the challenge the day before.💡 So I paid him a visit :). And I don't feel bad! :mischievous:

This challenge gave me quite a bit or trouble at first as well. The way I completed it was to take the course very slow and see what my time was. Surprisingly i was not far off of gold as the car itself is already crazy fast. At that point it was a simple matter of taking the sections i was comfortable with faster and taking the tricky parts (turns 3 and 4 for me) slow. I got the gold in about 3 tries after i did this.

Done it yesterday on 4th attempt. With a G27 wheel. Quite easy as in Goodwood, SRF is always on. The only change for me was that I set the tranny to automatic, then the first time I ran off track in the first corner, second time I hit a barrier, third time silver with 31.1 and next time 30.2. Just take this challenge easy, it can't be won with a hot head, I think.

My take on this one....Because things are happening so fast in this TT, your reaction time is reduced significantly over a standard driving situation. I also found this one a challenge to gold initially, but after a few laps, and failures, realised I had to approach it differently. As posted previously, you do not need to drive the car at 100% power, its just too fast on that track. 85-90% of top speed is ample. If you have ever fired a shotgun at a moving target, you will be familiar with the concept of "lead". Same as this race, you need to be taking the corner well before you get there, if that makes sense. Because of your speed, and reaction time, it is not feasible to drive up to the corners and take them as one would normally, but by starting to turn in well before it seems you need to, by the time you reach the corner, you are half way round it, and then preparing for the next. In other words, you are actually driving maybe 50-100 meters in front of you, rather than where the nose of the car is. Give it a go, it works fine. This TT was a great learning curve for me, to handle that car on that track, pretty damn cool.
