It's all retarded. The government just can't seem to figure it out -

It's not street racing if it's not on the street. Or, put differently, give us a reasonable* place to do it, and we'll go there. While I think it's rediculous that these guys are street racing like this, it's just as bad to destroy their cars for doing so. Those are financial investments, hobbies, and much more to the people that own them. And to have a car like that taken away and crushed (Any car, for that matter), could financially cripple the owner.

*By reasonable, I mean that tracks must number more, be closer to both cities and smaller towns, be maintained, cheap to go to, and finally, be open for long hours on a frequent basis - Midday to midnight, or something similar.

Hell, it's the same absolutely everywhere. I've been pulled over (twice) for "unwarranted acceleration". Seriously, how the hell does it matter how quickly I get to the speed limit? And there was a pretty well publicised case where an older driver got his AMG impounded because he had some wheelspin couming out of his driveway. "Sustained loss of traction". It annoys the hell out of people, but there's bugger all we can do, so I guess we just have to live with it.

I got a "Undue noise" fine twice.

Once for a slight chirp of my tyres as I went around a corner, in which the cop pulled me over 2 hours later cause he remembered it and found me.

The second time was because a cop heard my blow off valve (which is legal btw), he was in a bad mood cause he just chased another turbo car (300zx) then he heard a blow off valve, so I got done for it. When I complained he threatened me with finding something to defect my car car with (which is much worse), so I just shut up.

I don't agree with that Slicks, it is not the governments responsibility to provide more places for you to take your car and legally speed. It is simply your responsibility not to do it on public roads, if you have the time to travel to somewhere you can do it legally, fair enough, if not, tough.

The way i'm seeing it is the government here is doing another money grab. Aslong as they target people that the majority of the public find dangerous or annoying, then nobody will complain (ie. smokers, drinkers). Anyone who gets their car crushed from "racing" will have to pay the fine, plus buy another car which the goverment then taxes and makes more money from.

There are more positive ways of getting racers off the street, but unfortuantly they all cost the government money instead of making it. I could understand this law for repeat offenders, but seeing that its officer discretion means that a lot of people are going to lose their cars just because someone got up on the wrong side of the bed that day. :grumpy:

Oh over here they don't crush your car, that would be a waste. They sell it......... and keep the money. :indiff:

Most of my mates who have (legally) modified cars actually carry copies of the relevant laws/rules in their glovebox. When they get pulled over by Mr/Mrs. Plod in a foul mood, there's bugger all they can do if everything is done by the book and they know you know it.

Wont work here, if you question them they will just send your car to the vehicle inspectors and they don't even need a reason except of having suspicion that your car is not road worthy. Our single vehicle inspection place is so packed it take weeks to get through and they go over everything with a fine tooth comb (depending on their mood), plus the fee you must pay even if it fails (which often happens).

The inspectors even often make their own rules up like my dad failed with a 1953 Pontiac because it had faded paint. My dad officially complained and awhile later he got a letter stating it was a mistake and they passed it.

Why not? they pay for parks, baseball fields and other equally useless things. Heck it doesnt even have to be publicly funded, I'd be just as happy going to a private track but they shut it down due to noise, nevermind the fact that it is (not kidding here) litterally at the end of an airforce base runway. We have only 1 track and 2 drag strips, all in the middle of nowhere... :grumpy:

We only have one place where we can race, and it's a run-down airport. And yes, they shut it down due to excessive noise, partying and all those factors.

Yeah, seriously, Morley.

But, anyway, why go to Arizona for anything (besides the grand canyon) when Nevada is one state away?

Yeah, it's not even close to beautiful, you have no Saguaro cacti (you wouldn't believe how many great pics I've taken with a Saguaro up against a blue sky or a sunset), you're in the middle of nowhere. It's bleh.
