PApunk924 and Jaguar Finish 5th in Germany

After an amazing start to the season PApunk924 fell back to earth at the Nurburgring.

After immediately losing several positions on the first lap the #23 Jaguar was then involved in a lap 2 incident with the lone Mazda entry.

It was an uphill battle after that for the remainder of the race. It was looking like a definite 6th place finish until a last lap pass on @Nascarcory to secure 5th place. Cory would unfortunately run out of fuel 1 turn before the finish.

When asked to comment about his poor performance PApunk924 had this to say,"I felt sluggish the whole race. I may have had too much fun the night before @GTP_Guido's drivers meeting".

When asked about the incident with the Mazda he had this to say with a bit of a smirk. "There's a lot of talented drivers in ARL. I hope Mazda can find one soon".

I benefitted from @Nascarcory ’s lack of fuel too! Good battle through a lot of the race though!

I'm rather surprised by the results, had thought I was the only lost hope while trailing last in the lobby when the leader's gap is extended at a rapid pace.

Neutty and BGC were total different beasts on the Nurburgring GP track with that blistering pace! Can someone scrutineer their cars for any hidden modifications?

Another curious question, how do you approach turn 1 on that track without losing much time?
- Brake on the outside edge and aggressively attack the sharp camber apex and stick close inside for turn 2, or
- Run out wide at turn 1 and aim for the outside early and into turn 2

Tried both ways but wasn't balls enough to bite on the sharp camber apex...

Answer to Turn One: watch my replay. DON'T DO WHAT I DO! Apparently I was the only one attacking the corner to the point of basically jumping the pylon. If I didn't cut it so close, I'd overshoot the corner.

I was watching several replays, live and virtual, to see what are the preferences. I'd say most would go for the middle rather than the sharp camber apex.

But it's still interesting to see how different lines could have one effect on another.

I was aiming about a car width from the curb it seemed to be a little flatter there

UPDATE FROM TEAM MAZDA

After another difficult race for Team Mazda the teams management decided to avoid the media briefings post-race, instead choosing to investigate the causality and circumstances involving the Lap 2 incident that very well could have ended the race of two or more cars. After flying home to Canada to celebrate Victoria Day, Driver Syd Viscus was made available by phone to discuss the race in Germany, as well as the upcoming duel in the desert, round 3.

When discussing the race as a whole, Syd admitted "We had the pace in the car, which was frustrating, we had great practices leading up to the race and although we had our issues on the Medium tire, as most seemed to, we really could've made some noise I think". "These things happen, that's racing, sometimes you have a great race and one small mistake can undo so much hard work, it sucks but that's life."

We asked him about the media firestorm going on at Jaguar, and Syd had less to say than expected, "I know they want to grab headlines, anyone does when they join a new team, they want to cause a stir. Here at Mazda, we know what we have, and we know we can take the fight to them as the season goes along". He added, chuckling, "We are just keeping our fingers crossed we get sorted into silver division so we can wipe that smirk off his face."

Mr. Viscus went on to add that he did feel bad for the incident, and that he feels for the Jaguar driver. "It always sucks, y'know, when your race is ruined through no fault of your own by some idiot losing control and damaging your car, especially when your car is already so slow, and I personally apologized for the incident post race, sincerely, it was stupid. It's also a learning experience for us in a new category on a new grid, so every day were getting better, and the goal is to improve every race, and overall we feel we have done that, and look forward to continuing that at Big Willow".

Looking ahead to next race and the potential divisional placement on the horizon, we asked what this weekend could hold for team Mazda; "We are aiming to try to replicate our last two qually's, both have been 7th which is fair grid slotting considering the first few spots are usually held by gold-tier aliens, and just try to connect a solid race start to finish, and prove what our real pace can be. Divisional slotting is what matters now, we don't know whether the B.o.D. will release that before or after [Big] Willow, so for know we are treating this coming race as our final tryout."

I dig it...a FEW more 23s would probably send it over the top tho lmao

Hmmm I have noticed that as well...wouldn't it create a little imbalance when going over the apex?

Haven't raced since my SNAIL days, wondering what's required to get added to race and when the season starts.
Hello, and welcome. If you are interested in running the ARL GR3 Series, here is what you need to do:
  • Go to THIS POST and complete the sign up form. Indicate what series you would be interested in running.
  • Next, click on the GR3 HUB POST, and select the tab marked cars. Select any car that is available. (Currently, the only car off the table is the Beetle).
  • Then go to the GR3 SATURDAY post and read through the regulations in the first post.
  • Come back to this thread and announce what car you will be using for the season.
  • State your PSN ID in your car selection reply.
  • All races are by confirmation only. Confirmation opens on Thursday mornings, and closes on Saturday nights 7pm Central/8pm Eastern.
The season started two weeks ago, but there are still 10 races left. Hope to see you on the grid Saturday night.

Let's stir the pot again who's going to Renault?

Alonso?
Vettle?
Renault dev. Driver?

I don't see it being a dev driver, as none have the super license points and those points will be hard to come by this year with things being as they are. Vettel does have the history with their engines from his time with RB, I just don't know if he would think they're worth his time, or whether he thinks theyll still be in the sport in a couple of years.

MAYBE Alonso, would be interesting. Im hoping Jolyon Palmer :lol::lol::lol::lol:
