**Marshall P.'s Pit Walk**
"With the American Racing League wrapping up its season opener at Dragon Side, I caught up with Allen Autosport owner and driver Tyler Allen to share his take on the race. After failing to qualify, he had his work cut out for him starting well down the order. How did he get on? Well...."
MP: Tyler, not quite the drive you were hoping for but valuable experience gained nonetheless right?
TA: Well Marshall, when they say the highs are high and the lows are low in racing, they really mean it lol. A McLaren stalled on the grid (lost connection I presume) and it was too little too late for me to avoid it. I clipped the back of him and banged the suspension and aero pretty well. Fortunately it was the start of the race, so I had time to reconfigure my strategy going forward. My lap 3 or 4 was an example of that reconfiguration and I had hoped it would be my saving grace as I tried to rally back up the order. A few laps later, however, I got too greedy with the throttle and spun out exiting the last corner. My apologies to the driver of the Atenza. He was just running his own race only to be forced to the grass to avoid me. He clipped my front end as I was spinning and lost control as well. He did not deserve that but that's just racing I suppose.
MP: I know it must've been tough stomaching that moment. How were you able to cope with the pressure moving forward?
TA: Head down, eyes forward was all I could really think Marshall. As much as I hated that my team put so much work into building and preparing the car for the weekend for me to basically destroy, I had to put that thought behind me. There was still much racing to go. The least I could do was show my guys that we are capable of contending with the front runners.
MP: Your pace was quickening in those final laps. What clicked?
TA: I believe the car and I were finally coming together with the track really. My team at Allen Autosport did a fantastic job getting this 911 ready. Despite the setbacks, I don't think we could've asked for a better car. I just didn't deliver. I owe my team and our partners at Hugo Boss a great show next weekend. We've got a lot of work to do to make sure the car's poised for top honors, but there's no doubt in my mind we have a winning machine.
"The Dragon seemed to take no prisoners this weekend at the Gardens with attrition rates exceeding several expectations given how fast everyone looked in testing and practice. Alot of broken cars.....,but alot of boosted spirits. We could see some surprising efforts working their way up front to championship glory. Only time will tell. Next week we have bull riding in Austria. Lets see how this goes!
