First, hello everybody for the first time.

Second, I'd like to thank to person who pasted facts from my intervew with Kazunori from granturismo.com in one of the threads, without signing me down - dude that's rude.

Third, news.

Sony has announced today that they will release a special version of GT4 during December 2003 in Japan (rest of the world is not confirmed, but I hope that people with ftp servers in Japan will promptly react with DVD image as game is released) called Gran Turismo 4 Prologue Version (same hope for ftp ddisc image goes to lucky bastardz who get a chance to drive Toyota Prius during the event in japan and grab a copy of Prius GT demo disc - link to an ftp will be higly welcomed).

As it's stated in this unofficial release, GT4 Prologue Version will come with 3 game modes: Free Run, Licence Tests and Time Attack mode with not yet confirmed number and type of cars.

The Prologue Version should make waiting for GT4 - which is now due to release "sometime in 2004" - less painfull. There is also a rumour that GT4 Prologue will be sold together with new Logitech Driving Force Pro Whell but it's not comfirmed in any way.

Now we can wait the start of Tokyo Game Show - which begins tommorow - for further info about both GT4 and this intresting Prologue Version.
 
The complete version of GT4 must be so bug invested for PD to come out with a prologue version first. That means we probably wont see GT4 until May or June perhaps.

Where did you hear this information? Do you have any proof this is real? Can you give us a link?
 
Well, I'd rather wait for the finished gold version of gt4 this prologue sounds like a demo to me. It will be good for screenshots and stuff like that though...

I don't really know what to think of this Prologue... :odd:
 
I dont think the game is any where near ready for full release.
And i Dont think its a question of bugs.

They were still filming cars in the summer. hundreds of them all over the world and making sound recordings.
Got to get them all modelled and into the game before they can finally decide on the all the championships and all the other gumpf.
then they have to ensure that each car runs realisticly.

I think that the Game is still evolving with new ideas as the programmers progress.

Hopefully the release of a demo for Xmas will be a good thing.
Maybe keeping the pressure from Sony For Pd to release the full game too early ala GT2, we should also be able to get a better look at the work in progress, and finally...


Pd will be able to deliver sometime in 2004 when KY is happy that he is releasing the Ultimate Racing game he dreams of producing, featuring Improved Ai As promised, 100 tracks as promised all Hopefully Bug Free.

P.s Didnt some one mention the fact that E.A's license for ferrari and the like expires early 2004!

That sucks! No other car than the Prius! It would have been a smarter move if they gave out the full version of Prologue. More people would come in for that.

*The Toyota Prius disc is a demo with only one car, this GT4 Prologue is more like a GT4-Lite.
 
Sounds like they want to cash in on GT's fans to me :irked: before GT4 is even finished so ppl buy both...

well if this is true, it better be half price :irked: or maybe then can have a coupon which comes with this prologue which gives you a certain rebate when you actually go and buy GT4 once it hits the shelves.
 
amar212 aka "Deus" is very reliable. He has or had extensive posts over at GTF including an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi. I believe him. Too bad we have to wait longer:grumpy:

New info: as Prologue is officialy confirmed (together with info that game will come with just one (1) track, which is a phuckn TEH SUCKZER info :banghead: ), there has been a small info about GT4 - game is now scheduled for a spring release (in next 6 months) and it should arrive on two DVD's.
 
Sounds great. PD get more time to finish the game properly, and we get to play something new, with the new wheel. Like a few people said above though, it had better be cheap, maybe even free with the new wheel (like GT3 virtually was).

Yea, sounds like the Prius is one slow piece of crap, so it could use some nitrous. Unless you meant the game, in which case, I must kill you.

OK, seriously now, I don't see a price higher than $10.00 for the P game. It only has one track, with what? Maybe a dozen cars, or so? I'm not gonna pay more than $10.00 for that. I problably wont even pay that much. Game demos usually go for $4 to $6.

One track? That just doesn't seem right to me. It's gotta be more than that. From the looks of it, the "Aria" track seemed complete to me. Why didn't they put that one in too?

PD better be careful about the price. If it's set to high, this might be seen as a greedy money grab, compared to an opportunity for all people to finally try the game. People will get upset and maybe not buy either game. If you are reading this PD, be cautious about the price!
 
That "one track" info is still unoffical - I'm waiting for it to be confirmed - in one or two days the big and full info about GT4P should come.

As for tracks - I've counted 7 tracks that've been shown in diffeent ocassions while showing GT4 demos around the world: Tsukuba Circuit, Fuji Speedway, New York City, Grand Walley Tuweep, Citta di Aria, Midfield Raceway and Laguna Seca.

They probablly have even more modelled tracks. Guess we sholud wait for just a while...
 
It would be a great idea to allow you to run all the licence tests in the prologue version, like if you wanted to get gold (or just pass if you're a slowpoke) on all of them, or complete all the time attack challenges, then you could transfer your accomplishments onto the full version of GT4 when it comes out. That way you get to test the water of the full version as well as start to complete the full version in some ways. It will also be nice to get used to using the new wheel so when the full version
goes online you'l be ready to compete online from day 1. Just my thoughts, but hey that might just be TOO logical for PD/Sony to figure out.:rolleyes:
 
From the dodgy translation, I see..

While we already know 500 plus cars and 50 plus tracks will be included along side online multiplayer, with a new physics engine, and with most of this well on the way to being accomplished in spring this year a decision was made to announce Gt4 For Dec 2003, and from recent images and events you would assume the game is almost finished.

However, it has been decided that what was truly required of Granturismo 4 is a game which pushes the boundaries of the gaming experience, instead of merely being an evoloution of GT3.
So ideas are bieng incorporated to expand the Scope of the GT world beyond that of standard gaming experience.

Also on the programming side the new features of the game which have not been part of the gt series before are taking more time to get right.

And so they have decided to release a limited version in order for us to glimpse the new GT world.


Ultimately from that we should be looking at an astounding game when it is finally released, and will most likely feature things you never really thought would be in there.

The prologue will most likely be very similar to GTC, in lacking depth, challenge and variety and very short of new features.
I guess The prologue is probably only coming out IMHO to satisfy some very disgruntled people at logitech who have been holding back the new wheel, in anticipation of a christmas launch alongside GT4 to get the cash rolling in again, and they most likely cant afford to hold back anymore, especially as Gt4 could now slip deep into 2004.

Look, Laser Lens. I have no idea what prompted this outburst, but I've never seen him criticize anybody who didn't richly deserve it. And besides, a simple comment that the link was dead (which it may well have been when he clciked it) does not strike me as a vicious critical attack.

Speaking of "can't say anything nice", heed your own words and shut it. You've been warned by other people. Further attacks on Solid Lifters ot anybody else will not be tolerated.

That's it,I'm leaving this forum.

Here's why I reacted so strongly to his comments.

Solid Lifters has been harrassing me almost from the first day I started posting here. Why did he choose to harrass me? Because when he and Majarvis were harrassing cobragt,I stepped in to try and stop it. I can't sit idly by while someone else is being harrassed.

Let me call your attention to this post:

That will detail his harrassment of me. Most people would have gone out of their way to avoid even the appearance of harassment after all that. He could have posted a message in this thread without makng comments towards me.. Any comments I made towards him were in direct response to his crticizing me. I don't go looking for a fight.

Another reason he targeted me is because of the actions of gtplanet moderator:

My poll was malicously edited. Only moderators can edit polls. I brought that to the attention of the owner of this site. The owner of this site fixed the poll. No action was taken against that moderator, which made other people feel they could harrass me.
