At the time gtpsp came out, sony needed to move PSPs.
Hardly. At that point, there were more than 50 million PSPs sold, but only a few more than 20 million PS3s. However, someone in SONY marketing must have seen some nice sales happening with PSP, and potential for more, that they didn't quite see in PS3.

Sure, like GT4 wasn't the highest selling PS2 game within the first six months of its release in 2005. Oh well, like wine, time can only improve GT5. But they had better get a wiggle on before the global economy takes another downturn, thanks to just about every government on the planet wasting our money. And I don't mean on war.

Sony need something to help sell the PSPgo and that was GT Mobile. Now i here they might stop production of the PSPgo.

Now I hear they might stop production of the PSPgo.
I was just asking myself what the hell happened to the PSPgo 👎:dunce:

PSP sales have been poor since a few months after launch and were falling steadily in 2008 and 2009. In 2008 they were being outsold 4:1 by the DS and in 2009 sales were down again. Sony needed a AAA title to help boost sales to compete with nintendo.
Let's not also forget the psp was launched 3 years before the PS3 so the 50M to 20M has no merit in this argument. The PSP has been out 5 years compared to the ps3's 2 years at that point, half the price of the PS3, and only 2.xx as many systems sold as a $400-$600 console?
What a success.

Not if you want to play some Gran Turismo on the train, plane, throne etc.!

Well, you could try.
Sort of like this guy.

Gran Turismo 5 has officially made the list for E3. According to IGN.com. Here is the official list as of today. 👍

http://games.ign.com/articles/108/1086456p1.html

This is very encouraging. When this list was first created last night, Sony Computer Entertainment wasn't even mentioned. So, a day later, and GT5 has already made its way on the list. Last year, as the days approached E3, GT5 was like a ghost.

In conclusion: 👍 I want E3 to be so epic, that post 1 self-combusts.

I love how the perception of IGN (or any site for that matter!) changes when things show what you want them to show! ;)

Great news though, and to be honest, I don't think anybody here really had any doubts about GT5 being at the show - it just remains in what capacity. Full-on media blowout with launch date and loads of new facts and footage, or just another teaser...

the beautiful thing is that this time polyphony will not speak about gtpsp only....

the funny is if they speak about gtprologue update... only...:)

39 days? Oh I'm sorry, society will have crumbled, a one-world order introduced and mass genocide been committed before then. Yeah, hate to burst that bubble on ya'll.

The PS3 had been out for three years outside of Europe. Now, I had forgotten about the PSPGo, but I'm not so sure SONY expected to sell that many PSPs in the face of the DS, because when it comes to Mario and Pokemon, some kind of madness seizes the minds of kids around the globe.

And as for a possible delay, it should be put in perspective. If GT5 were pushed back to late fall, or even early 2011, it would mean one thing.

Something cool was being polished up.

As many people complain about damage, weather, day/night transitions or at least different time of day for different races, livery editor or race mod, a substantially developed online structure that allowed the creation of online leagues and racing seasons... would you guys be happy to wait for that?

Eh, I would. You know it won't be for more cars, with the possible exception of that "P" mobile. I'm pretty meh on weather, but I know that some people want a seriously realistic weather implementation, so I'd be content to wait on it. The same for damage or any of the above. Or the finishing up of all the classic GT tracks, I'd sure as heck wait for that! And suppose part of the package is... well, maybe I'll keep something to myself in case it pops out at E3, but definitely something cool. I'd wait for that. The only consolation prize I'd want is to have Prologue updated with at least the TT demo physics, some of GT5's online system, and a new track or two, like Tokyo and Laguna Seca.

And please forget the track count. I'd think the courses for the NASCAR and WRC license could total more than 20 tracks.

^^ I agree, acknowledge and congratulate you for your last post, Tenacious. 👍

Portable consoles are know for their casual gaming style, which applies perfectly to the Nintendo portfolio of games, putting GTPSP as the biggest competitor in a market composed mainly by teens and dominated by uncompromised games isn't a very smart move.

Regarding an update to GT5P as a consolation prize, I totally agree. The game lacks the superb physics of the TT and a more decent track count. I would love to have Laguna Seca in GT5P, but if the update does happen, PD is likely to give us Tsukuba and Tokyo, they already shown Tokyo to death and Tsukuba appeared in many trailers. PD should reward GT5P buyers too, of course they didn't ask us to bought their game, but the revenue achieved through Prologue's sales must have pleased Sony so much.

Like most people on here, I bought GT5P. On top of that, I have GTHD and the privilege of playing the TT demo. To that end, I guess I'm in the minority who is really not bothered about an update. I've already been rewarded - for handing over £18, I was given a copy of GT5P. The rest can be a nice gameplay surprise when I had over an additional £35 or whatever for GT5 itself.

good morning Heath 👍:sly:

Thanks mate Good Morning to you too. Last update was 7th of May it says.

After actually giving it some thought... this is what I think we will see...

-GT5 will be an actual segment of Sony's E3 press conference (albeit a small one) 95%

-A new trailer (most likely showing more locations and a crash or two... if we are lucky rain) 90%

-If I had to two pick a features that would be shown/talked about I would say online and head tracking with the PSEYE. America loves their online. The head tracking would tie into SCE's push for the Move and the PSEYE. 60%

-Marketed as a holiday blockbuster with an official release in calendar Q4 2010 if not an exact date. 90%

-Large marketing campaign with NASCAR for America. GT logos on NASCAR car(s) like GOW. 40%

-3D also part of the marketing 100%

-Another demo on show floor that is meh 85%

-Actual news, if any, will come after the show and interviews are made 95%

-There will still be a lot of misinterpretation and mistranslation 100%

-We will not know that much more than we do now (not many specifics on the things we know, like weather) 90%

-The actual "media blowout" will be during TGS in September 75%

-GTP will ignite in a storm of emotions... neogaf will be worse. 99%

I am going to say I will be about 75-85% right.

E3 - Demo showing somebody using the move controller building a new track?

At least we know its coming this year - that we can be certain of.

There is no way it would fall over into 2011.

Red> me ;)

^^

Regarding GT5 release, everything is possible. ;) Actually, I'm sticking with a december worldwide release, if there isn't any "media blowout" at E3, TGS will be the last event to announce the release date. And if TGS doesn't bring any news....2011 starts to be a possibility. ;) I'm not trying to scare anyone. :trouble:

Need I remind you what we've been through? I think it's a sound possibility that GT5 will launch in the first quarter of 2011 in Europe and the US, if not Japan too!
Shame on you, you should know better! At least you have some hope 👍 I'm just going to wait...and see:nervous:

I know this is a very common fear for us, being used to Gran Turismo delays getting longer with each release. But we honestly don't know what the deal is. We don't know what kind of crater GT PSP made in the GT5 development roadmap. We don't know exactly why the delay from the March release in the Orient. I sincerely doubt it's because of 3D, unless it's a serious improvement in 3D display technology. And we don't know what these additional months of development time are going to give us.

But to repeat what I posted above, I know that delays munch. But delays with GT5 don't mean more cars like it did with GT4. It means something awesome, so take heart and be patient. We'll know more in five weeks. See? This week is nearly over already. ;)

I'd be surprised if we see GT5 this year in light of some latest info's.

As you said, delay is for 3D, but, pal, it doesn't make "awesome" for many GT5 waiters who don't need the 3D! It's awful! No patience!

Dude, again, you are so optimistic. It's a good approach for our wait. But mind you, it's painful that it doesn't meet your expectations after your optimistic yet excruciating, lengthy wait. GT5 has betrayed everyone's trust - delay after delay.

In my opinion, Sony doesn't know how to do business. Sony should release an imperfect version and gain handsome money. Then, release GT6 with "so-called" perfect version. We have to pay more for GT6, like paying PES and FIFA games every year by football fans! That is the first thing Sony mishandles in the eyes of their stockholders.

Second, Sony doesn't know the customers' needs. We, GT fans, need an immediate release to play rather than a 3D technology. You know, customer satisfaction is the response for a corporation to gauge the degree of chances the customers will come back to buy your products again. Satisfaction among us is very low and, who knows, we have bad feelings, even hatred (for me), about Sony and its products. Sony, I know why you record negative earnings over the years. Poor strategy!

Anyway, we wait but do not go to NFS because there is no other game like GT5. GT5 has distinctive advantage - unique product.

In my opinion, Sony doesn't know how to do business.

Yeah, they're only one of the world's largest media conglomerates with revenue exceeding ¥ 7.730.0 trillion, or $78.88 billion U.S

But hey, some guy in a forum claims they don't know how to do business
