I thought GT5 would release in 2009..It will be later than i think.

I know it's nice to latch onto positive "statements", but this is just another comment from an editor on a news site that has no official ties to SONY.

I do agree that *if* GT5 is a major part of E3, then it wouldn't make sense for it to be another lame video.

Kaz is on record as saying he will be at E3. I don't think he would make the trip if it wasn't anything more than a video.

Yes but at some point the game has to reach its completion.
Damage seems to of been the thing everyone blammed and now 3D is the thing people blame. Its not as if these features were latched onto the game as "new ideas" they would have been in development with the game for quite some time.

Some people here are stating October/November and I ask them why, whats now the hold up or reason for Sony to miss out on the whole 3DTV launch period this summer?
Is it "Move"? Would limited support for "Move" be a reason to delay the game and miss out on the much more important and expensive development of "3DTV".
If GT5 was developed with 3DTV in mind why then is it not going to be ready for Sonys 3DTV sales campaign?


Great New 3DTV Tech & no AAA Title To Promote It?
It doesnt make sense at all that the game which clearly seems to be their AAA title wont make the 3DTV release window. I cant think why GT5 will release several months later particulary as the 3D update and several other previously showcased 3DTV games are now confirmed for early June release.

Sony have also announced for Europe their "Sony HX803 3DTV" which releases early June so will be onsale by the time E3 takes place will be bundled with free PS3 3DTV games.

The free games include:
Wipeout HD
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
PAIN
Superstardust HD

Nothing has been confirmed yet regards "free games" for USA/Canada etc.


So we can expect to see E3 fully promoting these titles and 3DTVs from Sony in abundance at the show.
However doesnt it seem weird that not one of those games is a new AAA title and no other new game other than GT5 has been shown and also been playable. Is it more or less likely that GT5 the biggest "AAA" title the company owns wont be releasing to promote 3DTV but instead will completely miss that and appear several months later just because its closer to the Christmas sales period?

It actually makes more sense that if GT5 wasnt going to be ready for the 3DTV launch window that PD would of dropped features or content to ensure it made that release window. Sony makes the calls not PD on release and they would have told PD as developers it had to be ready by a certain date. This is no different to situations Microsoft place under thier biggest signed developers to have games ready for specific dates or promotions the company must have the game ready for. Gears Of War, Halo, PGR3 these are all examples of AAA games that had to be cut short in development to make the release window their publishers demanded? Why would GT5 be any different?

I will be shocked if GT5 is not announced prior to E3 opening or indeed at E3 as releasing in the Summer. From a marketing position it all makes sense as well as getting maximium attention during the summer when 3DTVs will be heavily promoted by all major brands. Additionally thier is going to be a great lack of actual 3D entertainment for sometime so the PS3 and PS3 3DTV games will be one of the best ways for 3DTV early adopters to actually enjoy their new TVs. This can only help Sony promote more PS3 console and game sales.

The 3D buzz has only started not peaked or passed....
If GT5 misses or isnt part of that then its a complete disaster on Sonys part as a missed oppertunity.

Well this is what I think of when I hear the word soon. I think we'll see a GT5 release sometime after E3.. like maybe July or August.

Early to Mid July for Japan
Late July to early August for USA
and mid to late August for Europe and Australia and New Zealand.

Just a guess.

I would agree but when they say the list is composed of officially confirmed titles, who am I to disagree?

Edit: The main message that Sony has been 'broadcasting' since loud mouthed Portuguese guy (CEO of Sony something) said "...this fall...", has been a CONSTANT "sooner than you think". Everyone including KY has said this or something similar since then. That is the only reason that I have been drugged into thinking a summer release.

Once again: For Shame!!

I do expect we'll see a trailer with the elements. I think it follows the progression of the gaming shows:

E3 2009- damage shown in trailer

GDC 2009-damage explained

TGS 2009-weather mentioned in IGN interview and damage actually seen in demo

E3 2010= Damage+weather SEEN in a trailer/demo?
 
Looking forward to seeing what's in store for E3. However, I am not getting my hopes up. I think GT5 will be released around xmas season.

I dunno about you guys, but I feel emotional fatigue. I enjoy the feeling of hype from hearing news about games, but it really has been way too many broken promises. Anytime I let Sony, PD or Yamauchi-san seduce me with their sweet words, it results in heartbreak, and I find myself a washed up fool lying in the gutter, staring at the stars and wishing I'd never believed them.

You must have nothing much on your mind but one game. I have
  • Two fiction projects
  • Two music projects, plus another on a back burner, plus recording requests from friends
  • An awesome pair of speakers just waiting to be assembled by a relative, with some serious high end components like ribbon tweeters
  • Plus 11 game systems and hundreds of games to keep me occupied, not the least of which is the PS3 and its library
  • And ModNation Racers about to release!
I'm a geeky hermit type, and even I have plenty of cool things to spend my life doing. Plus, there's a certain serious family matter to remind me that there are much bigger things in life than worrying whether or not I'll hear news about GT5 today.

There's a whole world out there, enjoy it. :)

I just play other games. I bought Forza 3, played it to death then wrote a review of it. It's a good way to kill time.

That's great (well, apart from the serious family matter) but I think it's fair to say we all have our own lives to live in addition to all of this. Just posting your disappointment on a forum does not automatically mean that GT5 is your entire life!

Out of interest, if you don't mind me asking, what are your music projects? I dabble a little bit in eletronic music myself, but I'm no recording artist - just like to listen to something then try and copy it, occasionally coming up with my own riffs!

Yeah dude, waiting for GT5 is really wearing, but like Tenacious D says, there is so much do out there, dont get yourself down..

Play GT4 end-to-end again, that'll zap some of the time away - and remind you why it's worth waiting for GT5.

Yeah, I went back to GT4 and I'm at 20% only now, I forgot how the game was huge, I'm playing for a whole month and this is showing me how long it will take to finish GT5 GT mode, assuming it will be bigger than GT4's, very nice. ;)

Get a PS2 or use an PS2 emulator on your pc.

Yeah I've got a PS3 fat that says the same thing. Cannot support PS2 game data or something like that. :( So I have to drag my old PS2 out and plug it in. Can't be bothered really.




Edit: Before one of the most important threads on this forum gets derailed or something lets as of now go back on topic
 
It's hard to be ontopic since there's nothing new to discuss, but I have to say, since SrRd created this thread, almost 40 days have passed in a hurry.

Now we're at 5 weeks from the biggest GT5 apparition ever ( I hope ).

We should have beer week after week to celebrate. :cheers:

Funny you mention this because I debated whether or not to include a countdown. For one, it just reminds you how far away the show is, but then again, I love changing the number once a day is complete. Either way, like you said, the time is simply flying. It is! 5 weeks tomorrow and that's it. That's more than bearable.
