Thats why there are 2 physics options.
The game seriously made huge steps forward, just play GT1 and then GT5P, the difference is just as big as in any other franchise, never mind the genre.
 
As im bored and I love making videos I have made this GT5 video. Once GT5 is announced at TGS I plan on making a better video with all the footage and announcements. This is just a taster.

Yes the game series has made huge leaps forwards, but the formula hasn't changed more than 10%. It's get licenses, buy cars, race, buy better cards, race harder races, buy more cars....etc etc. Nothing wrong with that though, it's why we all love it, and they would be foolish to change the formula. BUT there is nothing wrong with adding features to the already perfect formula, like weather, different times of day, deeper tuning, more tracks etc.

Considering all the new HD footage we have gotten so far + all the new footage bound (hopefully) to show up at TGS + all the old GT5p footage I will make another trailer as a follow up to my original.
