Hey guys. I ran a similar club like this on Forza Motorsports and it was a lot of fun, so I decided it would be a good idea to try it over on GT5. Obviously there aren't any mountains for touge, but with the track creator and Nurburgring, it should be fine đź‘Ť

For those of you who don't know what Touge is, it's a Japanese word that directly tanslates as "Mountain Pass". Basically, Two cars race down a mountain section (or in this case, a narrow, winding track) and incorperate drifting to get around certain corners faster. One car starts in front of the other and the following car tries to stay within a certain distance from the leading car. If the following car passes the leading car and holds him off until the finish, the following car wins. If the following car remains right on the lead car's butt, then the following car also wins. If the following car stays between a certain amount of feet at the finish, it's a tie and they re-run with switched leading/following cars. If the following car falls behind X amount of feet, the lead car wins.

I plan on creating different classes such as FR cars with less than 200hp to make things fair and I will eventually come up with rules with the help of others. I'm not too experienced with GT5, so i'll need help creating the rules and classes, but it should be a lot of fun if everyone cooperates. I plan on setting up touge meets, photo shoots, open practices, and possibly even hold learning classes for the less-experienced.

There is no passing. Trust me you wouldnt get a chance to. But if the car stays on the butt of the front car he wins. The job of the car in front is to pull away from the the car behind if he cant do it he loses.

you wouldnt get a chance in real life touge, no. but in video game touge, it's highly possible. we tested these rules thoroughly on Forza and they seem to work nicely. but yeah, i forgot to mention that if the follow car stays right behind then he wins...

Im in with anything when I got time for it. Sounds fun.to me. Costum track de aso would be perfect with many hills and stuff.

yeah thats what I was thinking too, Duman. Thanks for offering to help too! I'm sure i can use it. Whet I was thinking is having Touge teams eventually. Each has their own "Home Mountain" and other come and challenge you on your "home mountain". Kind of like Initial D :D but thats far down the road.

Ah buddy. I like it how you signed me up straight away. Love you lol

Now mods I know this isn't proper drifting but as he says drifting is sometimes the faster way around corners. Hear us out. đź‘Ť

About the rules i have a suggestion, can it be something like, if the person behind finishes +1 (this can change) seconds behind losses. If they finish within that time they win. It's about time someone started doing this, i love watching touge races. My fav. car is also Amemiya Rx-7 (Touge version) ^_^

I'll compete in RWD races

Yeah, but 1 second seems pretty close. you'd have to be literally on their bumper. haha. i say anywhere from 2-3 seconds is a tie. under 2 seconds is a win for the follow car. 3+ is a win for the lead car. something like that. the classes will probably be a stock class which is a completely stock engine. street class which will be around 250hp. Sport class which will be around 350hp. and a Pro class which will probably be around 450hp. not too sure yet. what do you guys think?

Seems good but in reality and in comparison to your forza touge thread 3 plus seconds is a huge gap and I think is a little out and hard to win. Yes I know to win you need to be good but maybe lessen it for the novices.

I may be on tommorow night late so I'll hop in a lobby with you once you accept my friend request.

Time to tune your infamous S13 again?

Well i still hold the fastest RWD time downhill in my B class R33 on forza in the world....so I would use that if it could be RWD converted. but it cant. So im thinking its S13 time <3

Im gonna work on the criteria for the stock class. let me know what you guys think

-FR
- year as to be older than 2000 to keep it fair
- 250hp max
- comfort tires only
- no engine mods allowed
- Only drivetrain, weight reduction, and suspension is allowed
- all assists must be off besides ABS

......ill probably add onto it, but it seems good so far. any suggestions?

What comfort hards?
Maybe the 2000 year thing ain't such a good idea. It limits the amount of cars you can use. I'm sure if you get a good tune down a pre 2000 car will be competitive.

Nah. Just any comforts in general. They are hard enough to where you can still drift if you want to, but u get enough grip to race.

Sounds good, tires IMO should be Comfort Soft/Sports Hard. I'm not so sure on the year thing though, but it has been proven that newer cars with the same hp/weight tend to be faster, maybe that could be incorporated into another class? like:

1980-1989
1990-1999
2000-2009
2010-

This being the first filter in classing cars, if you know what i mean.

Yeah I just don't want to have 15 different classes if there are only 10 people in the club if you know what I mean...maybe starting out with 3 or 4 less specified classes is the way to go and then the more it grows, the more specified the classes get.

@Cro- It's as official as official can be...officially. you wanna sign up?

I'm thinking of posting a thread in the racing loung with a link to this thread to attract some racers since this is as much racing as it is touge. hopefully it grows a ton then. What do you guys think?

no, I'll be hosting a lobby tomorrow for it. I have to go to bed as I have school in the AM. Looking forward to tougeing with you guys đź‘Ť

Count me in

With the no engine mods, could there be a leniency if it is an older car, as most are 100hpish.

I Like the concept of own team tracks

What time are you plaining to run this and what GMT are you cause I want in but I also want to run a EVO 6.5.

I'm totally new to this Taugé thing.. lol jokes.. But i am totally new; i've never done a touge race.
Is it an idea to have a beginners class? If i were to race you Walker; how much chance would i have; None.. But i like the idea..
