What is up with GT5 AI exiting the chicane at Nurburgring F/GP in FGT cars? I'd like to see an explanation for that.

I think someone already figure this out. It seems as the AI maps the best route to take a corner it doesn't figure in elevation changes on the track. That's the theory anyways.

My AI driver is AWFUL at that chicane. In the FGT car I watched him acquire the lead THREE TIMES in the race, only to be smashed by other AI drivers. He also spun at least four times by putting a wheel off on the outer rumble strip.

I tuned the car to avoid this problem as much as I could and told him to "slow down" when he got near the corner, but he still couldn't handle that corner.

My feeling about the AI in this game is to stay away from them as much as possible. This means picking a car that can easily beat them. I certainly don't want to race with them. So if they are meant to be competition, from my viewpoint they are a failure.

I have some serious door to door races with the AI. GT5 AI has the same problem as other sims. That is AI are not that good when they are all bunched together (Shift was awful at the first corner)and braking points. After they spread out some they are not that bad. Also common in most sims they are better on some tracks than others.
My best race with the AI so far is the 6 hour Suzuka endurance race. I was in a Nissan racing against a NSX'06 and it came down to the last lap. The NSX beats me down the straight so there were many times we went in the corner side by side. The AI seems to do a good job on this track.

Like I said, I don't need you , a video or anybody else to tell me what I know through my own experiences. The AI in GT5 is one of the worst aspects of the game and most other games do it better.

How well the AI can get around a stationary vehicle really isn't terribly relevant. What's important is how well they RACE, can they overtake you cleanly and efficiently if they're faster than you, do they know when to concede when you're in position to avoid an accident, if one car is in the way can they get around cleanly and efficiently without losing much speed, are they able to operate in a pack without losing speed and without causing an accident.

I just read the first page...

these 2 quotes are enough 👍

You said, the video you're debunking, cherry picked a situation to make GT5's AI look worse than it is, likewise it would seem that you've "cherry picked" situations that make GT5's AI look better than it actually is!

In my own personal experience of playing the game I'd say the AI is 50/50 when it comes to recognising a player & taking the appropriate action to avoid a colision. I'd have to strongly disaggree with what you said, regarding it being the players fault if contact occurs with AI drivers, as when I perform the same manouvers with clean & competent real drivers online, no incident occurs.

Nice try!
