Guys when GT5 came out, what were the new tracks (as locations) that were not in GT4 and what were those got heavily updated?? i need this info to compare with the 7 new locations we got for GT6. Are they adding more or less now in comparison from GT4 to GT5?

New Tracks:
Monza
Nurburgring GP Course (not a new location)
Top Gear Test Track
Daytona
Indianapolis
London
Rome
Madrid
Eiger
Cape Ring
SSR7
Chamonix
Toscana

That's 13 new tracks and 12 new locations (considering the Nurb GP course isn't a new location). Also a different Chamonix track was in GT4 so technically it's only 11 new locations.

Considering that gt5 was the new console title and took a lot of time to develop, gt6 which has an easier road ahead of it would have more or at least the same number of new tracks/locations. I can't say I am happy about it...

Do remember that we also lost a lot of tracks from GT4 to GT5.

Yes.
- 7 is really pushing it and I am hoping for many layouts of these 7.
- 7 including 4 from GT5 DLC is really bad.

And if they have many tracks being held only for DLC later it's a bad move in my book considering the low number of new locations. That's my opinion of course.

I have no idea why but car count seems to take precedent over track count. It's not just another weird Gran Turismo idiosyncrasy either - most car games seem to just "copy & paste" tracks from the previous title while adding a couple new ones.

To me, tracks add a lot more depth and longevity to a racing game than adding another rear wheel drive, front engined car (that probably feels very similar to the other hundred rear wheel drive, front engined cars).

Question for those in the know
https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-6-pre-order/
In regards to the Audi R8 LMS ultra 2012, is that the Phoenix Racing car or is that an unpainted version like the R8 LMS seen in both GT PSP and GT5?

Well, no one knows for sure but I'd imagine it's the same car as the Phoenix one, only with a different livery -- probably something simple like all black with a GT logo or 15th Anniversary written on it.

As all of the GT3 cars on that page are not mentioned with team-names, I would assume that it refers to the models/liveries already known, and not 4 entirely new ones.

After all, the "4-Car Pack", which contains the GT3 Nissan and BMW, and for which the images have been published, also show the already known liveries, although the cars' names don't contain team names.

I wouldn't take that as confirmation for that model being in the game. If I recall correctly, there were cars in the GT5 "We Love Cars" ad which were not featured in the game itself.

Hmm, filming the LFA Nur on Japanese streets along with the Corvette C7 filming in LA, it looks like we have some cool marketing coming up.

It would be nice to see this trend continue, BMW or Mercedes in Germany (at the Ring), Jag or an Aston Martin in Britain, Renault in France, etc. Should be a killer commercial!!!

[4] Assuming that all GT5+DLC tracks are back and that Brands Hatch, Bathurst and Silverstone are confirmed, the only way for GT6 to have “GT Courses requested by fans” is by variations of existing
tracks. The only possible candidates are Rome Circuit and Eiger (by stretching the concept), at this stage, since we already have names for 33 locations and supposedly there won't be any more at launch

damn, i would love to see the Großglockner-street as point-to-point track in GT6. i drove it already 2 times with my car and it's just awesome! the only problem is that this track would be very long :D

It's a nice announcement, but another curveball track-wise, unless PD have upped the location count.

I'm thinking more and more that GT6 won't come with any of the DLC tracks (or possibly even, cars). I could imagine that any DLC bought for GT5 could also be used for GT6, and that it'd be available from day 1, thus making the 'DLC' location count 37. Very odd setup.

The numbers aren't adding up for sure, we're at 31 now not including any of the DLC tracks, leaving two more to get to the 33 number.

I really hope it's just a mistake and the DLC isn't still DLC though, that would be a stupid move.

Brands Hatch is as good as confirmed now FYI, two people from this forum have seen that temp artwork in UK video game stores on the shelves stating Brands is in.

Then it would be like this:

6Jqna8R.png

33 locations / 62 variations (+ unconfirmed ones)

If we consider all Special Stage locations as a single location, then there would be 33 locations / 68 variations in total also including Twin Ring Motegi and Kart Space. This would leave place for 3 more variations to reach the initially advertised figures of 33 locations / 71 variations.

By the way, if all Special Stage locations are to be treated as a single one, that would allow PD to include SSR11 without bumping further the location count.

It's possible, yeah. I mean Spa was in the trailer so it'd be a bit stupid to do that and then it turns out you still need to buy it as DLC.

I think you can speculate Goodwood circuit will be a variation as well by the way, in the original rumour thread two months ago the guy said he friend saw them mapping the hill climb and the circuit. Now we know that he was telling the truth I'm sure the circuit will be included as well. Unless it's a DLC add on, of course.

Also what about Bathurst? That won't be kept for DLC, surely?

Wow, PD has been bad with numbers lately. I mean, they marked the Premium Alpine A110 S as a 1968 model, but there's no such thing as a 1968 A110 S in real life. Now, there's 4-5 new courses comfirmed for GT6, but if these are combined with the 4 GT5 dlc courses; that goes a bit over the advertised course count they listed.

Who are you, and what have you done with Simon?

In real life they're on the same "Location" but so far the definition of location in GT hasn't included tracks that do not have shared sections. However this would open up the possibility that the Special Stage tracks might indeed be treated as a single location in GT6.

Unfortunately I fear there will be day 1 DLC. However, if Bathurst gets included, likely will the Ascari circuit too.

That was another thought in my mind.

The possible candidates for those 3 are:

Subdivisions of Ascari (of a possible 5)
Willow: Horse Thief Mile (of a possible 2)
Willow: Streets of Willow (of a possible 4?)
Extensions around Matterhorn (I worked out a possible 4 more)
SSR11 (1)
Possible SSR11+5 (1)
Short (banked tunnel) Route X (1)

In this scenario, I think the Short Route X is a certain addition given that it's already been in one of the trailers, as for the other 2 it's impossible to say, though the modelling (and brutishness) of the roads on Matterhorn are leaning me more towards that than SSR11.
