Gran Turismo 7 Custom Race thread

Really enjoyed the 2.4 hour race I did the other day, had me looking to try another one soon. Nurburgring might be a bit crazy, so went looking for somewhere else to do one. Seems like Sophy is pretty good at Dragon Trail Seaside in a few short test races I have done. Now I'm cooking up plans to do a 500km race there soon. Should be under 3 hours in length. Ending in the dark.

No change to the throttle and tyres with regular AI on update 1.67.

Also no change to tyres with Sophy. Tested with road and race cars for both AIs. Didn't check rain tyres but it's probably the same I'd imagine.

No new tracks unfortunately, don’t think there’s any new sophy compatible cars, including the new ones.

I’m guessing they’ll turn their attention to Sophy/custom races at some point this year.

Still hoping for Watkins Glen, Daytona, Kyoto at some point and i wish someone at PD would just stay late at work at train up the GT3 Huracan for Spa and Le Mans!! Haha

Given the deafening silence regarding Sophy updates in the base game, I fear we have what we are going to get.

We might get 1 or 2 more Sophy additions between now and GT8, but I doubt it 😒

I think you could be right, I’m getting a similar vibe.
They won’t want to give too much Sophy to GT7 otherwise there won’t be much new for 8.
Especially so far into 7 and the DLC we’ve just received.

I’m really enjoying what we have, but I’m deep in my Excel seasons and I do wish there was one or two more tracks just to freshen it up!

Ya, I'm hoping for Sophy on Nurb GP, Fuji, and definitely Yas Marina. It's also INSANE to me that the F3500A has Sophy, but the F3500B doesn't (officially). Because, I've used the Sophy work around to include the F3500B in events with the F3500A and it works just fine. I imagine it has the same file.

100% this. However, I hope they stick to 2.1 rather than replacing everything with 3.0. Either this or give us the option to tweak pace, tires, strategies, etc.

I want to believe Sophy 3 from Sony AI is actually better but it got downgraded by PD.

Yeah, I’m holding off a bit with TC America and TCR because it’s not making sense to run without the new cars. I’ve got my ADAC GT CUP series, Group A and GT3 Revival cars to use.
Anyway, there are plenty road cars to have fun with to have nostalgic Gran Turismo fun.

Had a passing thought that there might be a “perfect rabbit” available via the VGTs whose batteries drain once and never recharge. I haven’t done any real testing but am imagining something that pulls half a lap ahead immediately before settling into a pace roughly equal to your grid once the battery runs out. You’d never see the thing again!

Probably more work than worthwhile but perhaps a seed for someone!

That #68 Lexus almost ruins your race, though.

Love the broadcast graphics with the pilot info on the inside views and at the end of the race! And the fact that you're swapping 'drivers' at every pitstop. Maybe for future events another one for 'currently fighting for X position' to better have a grasp of where the broadcast is taking us at a given moment.

Yeah that Lexus really sent it in there and I wasn't expecting it.

I guess Suzuka doesn't have a 24 hour time cycle? It shows that night and sunrise slots are available, but I did a 5 lap race starting at twilight with x20 time advance and it didn't get dark. And for some reason none of the track lights were on. Also, using the same settings from LeMans resulted in zero AI passes in 5 laps. 😑

The only tracks with 24 hour cycles are Le Mans, Spa 24h layout, Colorado Springs, Daytona, Road Atlanta, Mount Panorama, Northern Isle Speedway, Nurburgring 24h layout, Special Stage Route X, Tokyo Expressway, and Yas Marina. All of the rest will stop time progression at some point.

All of these were checked by taking a car with an interior clock to each layout, at each time setting with 0x time progression, and then their latest setting with max time progression to run the clock to each track's end.

it seems like each time i do a custom race at Monza it is caution filled from the 1st 2 turns from ai going too fast and respawn or just stop after going too fast into the 2nd turn.

Regular AI or GT SOPHY?
When I race with SIPHY it’s not much of a problem. Just did a race with a “GT4(Gr.4) grid. Was tight, but no incidents.

Using these for a sort of world tour of ten minute races. Having good challenges in all races so far.

Super tight at Brands Hatch.
