I think August is a far more likely skipped month than July. This next month between updates is a long five-week month, and July is a month they've been consistent with. I know 2023 was technically an August update, but I look at that more as "July, but a week late" than I do a traditional end-of-month August update, which they've not done since 2022. So, given I'm saying there will be a July update, let's talk predictions:

Tracks are pointless to predict - we'll know one is coming when either PD do something unusual to tease an update, or Kaz writes "big update" in the silhouette post. Absent either of those flags, assume no track.

Cars... we have a framework this month from the tease in the datamine thread. Which to me makes this thread less fun, it's more fun to use tenuous-but-correct logic to try and shoot the moon, but fine, I'll play with the deck we have:
  • Something in the vein of the Vantage and 812 - late 2010s European sports cars from brands that have been lower-priority in prior updates. I can see why the 720S would be a popular guess, but I'm instead going to go for the Lamborghini Aventador S. The thinking here is the the Gallardo and 430 Scuderia were in the same update, so putting this and the 812 close together also makes some sense.
  • Something in the vein of the CX-30 and CR-V - early 2020s Japanese crossovers. PD can't make up their mind which segment of crossovers they want, so I'm going to cheat a little and put two down here. But there's little reason not to play this with a straight bat and pick the most obvious answer, which would be a Nissan Qashqai or Juke.
  • Something quirky - We've had the Unimog, we've had the Carry, I think it's time for an actual pick up truck that can race in the actual pick up truck events. So some kind of Dodge/Ram pick up truck to go with the F-150 and Tundra. I'm not going to pretend I'm knowledgeable enough about these to pick an exact one, unfortunately.

Xiaomi SU7. The Nurburgring addition to the banner suggests to me that we'll see it this release, also very possible we may be adding the VGT to the same one as well.

Ferrari F355. We need a classic supercar same as the C5 Corvette did some gap filling and I'm surprised this isn't already in the game, would make me happy for a start.

BMW M4 (G82? I think?) I know I sound like a broken record but talking about gap filling once again (and I don't mean those damn grilles on it) this one would cap things off nicely.

Ford Puma ST. We're doing a lot of crossovers and decided to have a break from predicting a Nissan, which probably means we'll see the Juke next time round. They may well go well with a slower model than this but I hope they don't.
It will be a great update, you must work for PD. The update trinity is here.
Sport (F355 and M4)
Family (Puma st)
Exentric (xiaomi)

Isn't AMG one Forza exclusive? Would be supercool, but might not gonna happen.

It was at release of FH5 in 2021 as far as I remember, by now should not be a problem

I think it's fair to predict there will be no new track at this point and future updates will probably keep 3 cars formula. It's been a while since we had any indication GT7 still have their full support, and even tho we definitely can't be sure about it, I would say we can probably expect few more 3 cars updates but nothing more and them now starting to keep tracks and some cars for the next game. Maybe that's what Kaz meant when he said GT7 will be supported longer than previous games, instead of completely cutting game off at some point they will keep going with those consistent smaller updates and maybe only stop very shortly before the next game.

That being said, we also got info there will be no datamained cars and march/may updates is kinda what we can expect in the next update. So my prediction for cars is:
  • Fiat Panda (I will keep predicting it until we get it)
  • Volvo XC40 (SUVs seems like a pretty safe bet for any update prediction and Peugeot shows they are not sticking to japanese ones, and Volvos already appeared in updates before)
  • McLaren 720S (something on par with 812 and Vantage, new but not very new supercar)

Updated prediction:

Last big update before slowdown.

1 track ( Tahiti Maze )

5 cars:

Ford Mustang GT '24 (Its just an obvious car to add, im sure that sooner than later it will be in gt7)
Subaru Impreza WRX STi '06 (Surely we will get all pre 2017 imprezas in GT7 with time, a kind of safe guess considering pd criteria)
Nissan X-Trail e-power '23 (Considering we are getting a lot of SUVS recently, and nissan doesnt has one, i feel we are getting something like this. IF not, it could be a sportier Juke-R '12)
Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) '22 (Good relathionship between porsche and pd makes this also other safe bet, renews the GT3 lineup a bit)
BMW M4 G82 ( Its the only generation missing from the M3/4, PD likes to fill slowly generational gaps)

Not sure about new features/scapes, it really can be anything or nothing, in the worst scenario.

The more people that bring up Tahiti Maze, the more convinced I am it's not coming (at least not yet, or even in THIS game). It's like Circuit Gilles Villeneuve all over again. Again, I hope I'm wrong. Nothing would make me happier than seeing my favourite rally/road track back from the dead, but... I just have a feeling we're not getting it (or likely any track till September or so, if at all).

By all means, PD, please make a fool of me.

Where are people even getting Tahiti Maze from? The only track we know of that's being worked on (allegedly because it was on the news feed here) is Motegi.

Well, I had forgotten that video, and after watching again...

If you pay attention to the last two, you can see two flowers from Tahiti. The first one is possibly a "thunbergia erecta" and the second one is the typicall local flower, the "Gardenia Tahitensis"

Soooo:

  • Xiaomi SU7 seems like a given.
  • I feel like there's a RAV4 shaped hole in the newly added range of "family" SUVs.
  • 1998 Nissan R390 GT1 is honestly wishful thinking at this point and June would have been a better fit for it because of the 24h at LeMans, but let's have some fun with predictions.

  • No track - as I said before, I'm pretty sure we're done here. The next time we'll drive a new track will be in GT8 (which I think could be less than a year out).

  • Thank you for your continued support.

If it was less than a year out then it would've been officially announced.

I don't think there are any rules. GT7 was announced in June 2020 and supposed to come out in the first half of 2021.
It was obviously delayed, but had it come out in its first given window it would have been somewhere between 6 and 12 months between announcement and release for example.

Not so much rules, but there is a well established pattern for Playstation first party releases (and also 2nd party games they publish like Helldivers 2). 12-18 months from first trailer / blog announcement to release, with a build up of previews / blog posts / dedicated State of Plays / advertising. It only really changes around console release time, and we're not there yet. I think the only recent game that came any quicker than that was Astro Bot.

I don't really see a pattern. I see a range from 134 days to roughly 10 times that and everything in between.

Lot of delays and a lot of covid of course. Hence - no rules.

It's not set in stone that a game has to be announced a year+ in advance.

EDIT: We're kinda derailing the thread I think. :)

Yes we've veered off course. Agree to disagree about the next game's proximity.

I do predict a track. Tahiti is a good bet and fits the recent pattern - returning from previous games, set in a real world location, an environment that shows off the graphics and absolutely useless for a lot of the higher powered vehicles.

The reveal of Spider-Man 2 was in 2021 (Playstation Showcase)

I don't see GT8 until 2027 (at the earliest).

So I think there's still at least another year of support for GT7.

And yes, I still think we'll have another track.

Taihiti has the credentials from what we've seen and could be a good fit for an update this summer (before the start of fall would be ideal).

But hey, with PD, you can never be sure of anything; we'll have to wait and see.

Tahiti would be a good fit following the pattern of absolutely awful tracks being added to GT7 I agree ;)

I'm curious - when people are just hearing "Tahiti", are you thinking of the two GT3 rally tracks or the GT2 beginner road circuit?

The rally tracks.

That's a good point actually because I'm thinking of the GT2 course.
I do agree the rally tracks wouldn't be a great addition for GT7 - they were fine as head-to-heads in the old games but putting more than 2 cars on them wouldn't be very fun.

I loved the version in GT4 but of course any new version would be a “tweaked” updated one. We all know how well those turn out. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m a bit confused by all this and maybe I’ve missed something…

But people are thinking we’re getting Tahiti Maze because Polyphony (supposedly) have drawn two flowers native to the Island of Tahiti?

The origin of the rumour is this video from late 2023 where PD showed off some of their filming/scanning techniques:

Obviously the headliner there was them scanning the Eiger, and then Eiger Nordwand showed up half a year later. There's then some tropical flora being shown, which people have interpreted as possibly meaning Tahiti. This is a good post that explains things:

Here are some screenshots from this video. Very intriguing stuff.

Can anyone tell me if a pineapple asset, giant banana/tropical leaves etc have been used in any circuit in the GT franchise? Especially GT5 and onwards.

But what is extremely intriguing is this...

Maybe this is where we'll find the pineapple haha. Or maybe not. Remains to be seen.

This would seem to be a brand new Polyphony-Original circuit, with a number of layouts to rival Lago Maggiore.
Likelihood is extremely low, but with the way it's layed out it could even be some kind of free roam map.
Could even be rally, I don't know lol it could be anything.

As seen on the left in some of the images, they seem to be using the smooth-binding junctions that they've shown off with Watkins Glen in another tech video recently.

If it's something else entirely then please correct me, or even if this is some kind of real road/circuit.
It reminds me a bit of Potrero de los Funes in Argentina, but it's not that.

Well it's not like PD just had a field trip and did some elementary school classes in the meantime. And those bits are from the same video which showed Eiger. I would say those are solid reasons to believe they might be working on a Tahiti track. But I have no idea why should we expect it in this update.

The problem for me is that it could just be a new course, or an idea for a new course. We may not even see anything come of it for a long time (possibly not even in THIS title). We often see PD scan a track/location and never hear about it again, or if we do it's often years after the original scanning took place (i.e it varies WILDLY). The recent addition of the Lancia Delta Rally car is a great example, which I believe was scanned back in the GT Sport days, if I'm not mistaken. So, we may see something of it soon, much later, or not at all. We just DON'T know.

Frankly, Tahiti Maze is one of my all time favourite Gran Turismo Fantasy Circuits. It was featured quite a bit in one of my most popular video releases "Countersteer Zero" back in the GT3 days (when I went by another name). I would LOVE to see it return. I'm just not seeing anything all that convincing as to it being released soon, or at all. As a popular Youtuber once said "Hype Responsibly".
