Before you know it you will have to become a hacker and start editing some .ini files or some other nonsense.
Quite literally anyone can do that.

Some cool opponent liveries in the new Honda Civic One-Make special event!
I said it back when they did the same thing for the "JGTC" special events - but these liveries are fantastic. They capture the essence of the racing modifications many of us grew up with. Remember the outmatched JACCS-liveried Civic poking around at the back of the GT World Cup field?

Yuck ! New extra café menu reward is a 6* engine ticket 😑

Kangoo does not have much in terms of body modifications.
I almost cried when my 6 star ticket was spinning all engines :(
Aside from a couple of pandemic peaks, I'd struggle to name a racing esports event with a higher concurrent viewer count than any GTWS event. And I (have to) watch a lot of them.
Oh man, brings back memories of NASCAR drivers racing iRacing on NBC/FOX or whatever during Covid. That was pretty sick.
given what ac evo is going for its going to compete with gt.
Two totally different racing games.

Two totally different racing games.
Both are Simcades with a selection of street-, sports- and racing cars. Both allow you to buy, modify and tune cars. Both offer real world tracks to race on. Both have quick races and regular races vs. AI. Both allow you to race online vs other players. Both even have license tests.
So how are those "totally" different racing games?

GT7 is a simcade, AC is a sim. AC is all out about racing, race cars specfically, and realistic physics and audio. Games like FM, GT are not in the same genre as games like AC, iRacing, RaceRoom, etc.

You seem to be thinking more of ACC rather than AC Evo, which is not specifically about race cars and racing.

Yes, sorry. I haven't played EVO yet. I was speaking directly about the AC IP in general. If EVO changed the direction, I wasn't aware.

Assetto Corsa Evo is very much positioning itself as a Gran Turismo rival. I mean they're even copying the licence test system.

We can't just pretend that other racing games don't provide any competition against GT, just because GT has its own unique aspects/feel.
Racing games are racing games to the majority of people, with the one divergence point being if a game is properly arcade-style like Burnout, or aims to be more on the realistic side (regardless of to what degree it's achieved).

Frankly the invention of the term "simcade" just sounds like typical sim-racing elitism and tribalism.

The license tests were in racing games long before GT. I remember them in Test Drive in the 80s. Most people that I have conversations with in game forums, be it here, fm.net, the old insidesimracing, or racedepartment etc, there are subgenres within the racing games. The most common I have seen:

Sim:

iRacing
RaceRoom
RacePro
Assetto Corsa
Automobilista
rFactor

Simcade:

Forza Motorsport
Gran Turismo
ProjectCars 3 (less so for previous releases)

Arcade:

Burnout
Forza Horizon
DriveClub
Project Gotham Racing

But this isn't the thread to discuss this any further.

Not really. Ac evo Will have a lot of stuff that gt features. Maybe not now but at full release absolutly.

Ac evo is a rival for gt without a question.

Previous ac titles was not a rival for gt. But its completly different with ac evo

You say that like you need to have the final say on a topic rather than contribute to a productive dialogue. You can't just shut down a debate by doing that.

Have any developers of racing games ever used the term "simcade"? I genuinely don't know. As far as I'm aware it's only a community thing. Maybe Project CARS did for their 3rd game, but I believe both Forza Motorsport & Gran Turismo present themselves as realistic driving games.
Again to what degree they achieve this is a matter of public & individual opinion, but that's what they aim to be. Some would even say behaviours in physics for other titles are unrealistic, like iRacing's driving-on-ice tyre physics.

Found a few more that weren't present in my first run of the event. Think that's now all of the ones that have a racing style livery. I re-rolled the event 6 times to be sure.

Can’t tell me PD can’t do Racing Modification or at least offer the Base Model race cars like Mazda TC, Civic TC and Silvia TC specs for most cars. There have been long and heated discussions about it, but PD do all the building of parts, modelling, fitting them, just like “Save” and let that be it. We could still have the option to build our own or a turn key car.

Anyway, good to see PD can still have fun making these cars for certain events.

I'm curious how licensing goes with these, if at all.

Like, there's the "road" Spoon EK in there (the yellow one with the carbon bonnet) as well as the one aping the #95 race car. Do Spoon know about that? Do PD literally license things just for three limited time races? Or do they just make the livery and hope Spoon don't see or are just okay with it.

....I don't think they mind..

Aha thats true about iracing and they're not doing much to improve it...but it's still a simulation.

Gt7 is a simcade because:

Tire temps in this game are nothing to even worry about, two corners in and you're golden. Where as something like acc, lmu or iracing where it can take multiple laps to get them up to temp. Learning to push on cold tires is a great skill set.

-In gt7 we can't even change tyre pressure. (we can in forza motorsport but it's hilarious)
-Track temperature is irrelevant and unavailable.
-PIT strategy is reduced to when to PIT. No access to fuel amount you start with, break changes, etc.
-No qualifying in offline races.

-Fuel amount you have seems to have no impact on the balance of a car.
Unlike an iracing, for example, where the vehicle will be much faster but more dangerous.
I remember an endurance race in a Porsche gt3 with very little fuel left, the rear end was very light and therefore the front end very playful.

And most importantly.

You can't honk your horn.

But that's fine Gran Turismo is a console game first. It is designed so that everyday people can have fun, there is nothing wrong with that.

Fuel weight and track temperature are 100% simulated in GT7.
Only thing I would say is simplified/arcadey is the tyres, as you say.

There's definitely some aspects to tyre rules (separate from the simulation engine) I definitely wouldn't want PD to model/emulate even though it'd be more realistic.

Like, I don't think the game would be improved at all by them going "Real life GT3 race series only use one dry tyre compound, so now Gr.3 cars are only compatible with RH tyres".

One thing new with GT7 that I've found to be both fun and a challenge is the wind speed & direction having an effect on top speed, braking effectiveness, downforce level and slipstreaming.

Like you had better know if you've got a headwind or a tailwind braking for T1 at Daytona's Road Course :D

Yeah I fully agree with this. I think where it matters the game is as realistic as it needs to be, it's not trying to be a full fledged simulator - but it does a very good job at being close to one whilst still being a game anyone can play.

Is there a Gathers Civic or MUGEN MOTUL in the one-make? 🤔

Except you can. It's a hidden option in the controller settings that you have to remap a button to.
No way !
I use a steering wheel, so I'll have to see about that as soon as possible.

No Gathers one from my outings, but I do believe a Motul Parody exists.
