No, but it just grinds you down more and more over time you know? It gets close to a point of apathy at times, but then something comes along and ends up reigniting the spark for a while.
Lately that's been the surprise addition of Sophy A.I. to Custom Race mode. Running multi-class races against them with Boost set to Weak has been fun. It's terrifying how efficient they are at lapping traffic. Went 4-wide at one point.

I think the main problem is that one part of the community is mad for the lack of newer race cars (specially GT3 cars). While you can understand they are disappointed they are gping beyond vocal and can give the impression that the entire franchise is done (not helping that several of those people have youtube channels where they make more noise).

I am from Mexico, so.my feeds on youtube and instagram are usually loaded of Spanish content generators that are pretty vocal and I see dozens of videos telling that GT7 is a disaster and being extremly critical of "meme cars".

While most of their complains can be valid from their point of view, it doesn't reflect the thoughts of all the GT community, but they claim they are talking for everyone, that I think is what cause this kind of feeling of only bad news

I'm tired of GT7 news-watching being a pit of misery with nothing to be optimistic about.
I’ve made it a rule to only check GTPlanet once every 2/3 days but towards the end of the month (weekend before the potential last Thursday update) I’m usually on a lot because news is happening. If you find yourself refreshing the page constantly looking for an acorn of news it can get tedious and, in your words, miserable.

In the meantime I make full use of the previous update cars and chip away at my own goals (master license golds, circuit experience, missions) but everyone plays differently. I’m one of the older GT players that spends hours making liveries, reruns the grind races for credits (not that I’m hurting for credits, I have multiples of every car already) and sometimes joins friends to test tunes.

Gran Turismo has always been an offline game to me because I started with GT1 on controller, and even though I have a G29 with a playseat rig and psvr2 I prefer to play GT7 with controller (in chase cam no less!) because that’s how i enjoy my time with it.

I think Kaz really did try to make a “sandbox” type of game this time around, and maybe the focus is a little lost for those who need a structure but I find GT7 unique in this way.

If you find something else to occupy your mind and not look for news as often, its nowhere near as bad. I'm involved in several threads and those tend to be where alot of my attention is focused. If there is GT7 news, Cool. If not, Guess I'll be back to what I am doing in those threads.

How exactly does a title that is pretty much at the end of its own life cycle with this PS5 port the ONLY thing left putting more pressure on PD? Its Horizon 5, Not 6.

As mentioned, the only thing Sony will care about is how much that they are about to get from a Forza title (Something I didn't think I'd even be talking about, but here we are).

It might not be as much pressure on gt7 given its at its pretty end circle. But it could make gt8 step up their game. Because then ac evo Will be on consoles to.

I am still intrested on what response pd and Sony will have this month given fh5 releases on ps5
Not seeing PD doing anything with horizon. Maybe if motorsport also comes to playstation we might see pd become a bit more active in that regard.

Only thing that makes PD more active are major game bugs that PD knows they need to fix asap or if by some craziness, Gran Turismo players stopped playing the game.

PD also doesn't care about that.

Or that.

Sony does. And given what ac evo is going for its going to compete with gt. And might even surpace it in many areas.

Competetion is what gets games as good as they can be. Gt7 has had no competetion. If they started losing players thanks to more competetion. They would have to put in more effort. Thats in general how it works.

The original AC was too dependent on mods to be a threat on consoles, and I feel it would be the same again with AC Evo.

Sony does.
Which is irrelevant, just like last time:
Pd might not care what other games are doing. But Sony does. And they are controlling pd pretty much. Just like Microsoft for forza.
That's... not how anything works, but you go off.
The Sony-PD-GT relationship is not equivalent to the Microsoft-T10/PG-Forza relationship.

Several games surpass GT in several areas. It doesn't inform what PD will include in game updates in the slightest.
Gt7 has had no competetion.
Tell me you don't actually pay attention to what games are out there without actually telling me. Do you reckon GT Sport and GT6 had no competition either?

Again, you keep hyping yourself up for what PD will do with an update because [other game] will launch/have a big update/anniversary, and it never happens. Then we get the post hoc rationalisation and disappointment. Again, feel free to do that to yourself (it's weird, but who am I to judge), but you shouldn't be hyping up other people in order for them to also be disappointed - especially as we then have to deal with all the clean-up from people who can't keep their unwarranted anger polite and to themselves.

PD does not watch other titles and react. This is how it is.

Snow/Ground tires for GR3/4 cars, Is there a possibility of appearing?
Honestly, I would like to hold a similar race, I think it would be fun.

Highly recommend trying it out for those with a PS5 :D
For those with a PS5 there are many other games I’d recommend before GT7, and if you’re only into racing games you should not even get a PS5 in my opinion.

I would also add when they get negative coverage in mainstream gaming (not just racing game) press.

But other than that, yeah, that's accurate.

Do you play GT7 or just post on the forums? Genuine question.Just wondered why you would not recommend a ps5 for racing games.GT7 plays better on a ps5 than a ps4,and i use both.

I believe he is alluding to the fact that there are few good racing games on the system, other than GT7. I mean, there is AC, and ACC (although just the base games, with no mods), and there are a handful of silly over-the-top arcade racers (not knocking them, just sayin') such as The Crew/TDUSC, but the sim market is bare bones on the PS5.

If that's how it works, then why are YOU not running things there?

Some cool opponent liveries in the new Honda Civic One-Make special event!

No. Well, hardly at all rather. I sometimes fire it up if a car arrives that I find interesting.

Because I don't think GT7 is a good racing game, and while there are a few others on the PS5 that are ok, PC is where it really happens in my opinion. I use my PS5 mainly for action/adventure games, as I think Sony's got some really good exclusives in that department.

Cool.

I’d go even further and recommend a PS5 AND PSVR2 only for GT7 🤷‍♂️🔥

If someone was really into VR racing (or honestly just racing in general) then it wouldn’t be good or realistic advice to recommend a PS5 at the present time over a gaming PC. One good game doesn’t outweigh a much more varied offering (and I'm saying that as someone who actually does like GT7 and thinks it's a a good racer - 2000 hours now).

I have a PC with a 2080 Super and a HTC Vive that I paid north of €4.000 for at some point that is rotting away somewhere in my basement right now - I'd recommend a PS5 / PSVR combo over this any time of the day.

Regardless of what the PC crowd will tell you a PC is still far from being an easy plug and play experience. Before you know it you will have to become a hacker and start editing some .ini files or some other nonsense.
Steam OS might get us there one day, but in my (40+) circles I would't recommend a PC to anybody. Getting the parts is a hassle, building it is a hassle, maintaining it is a hassle, running it is a hassle.

GT7 is a very unique experience and just very easy to recommend. I also love ACC and played iRacing a bit, but GT is what I always default to.

ACE is also coming to the PS5 at some point - though most likely without VR.

Using VR and gaming on PC too. I concur to @GlamFM's post, VR on PC can quickly become a nightmare, and even when all is working fine after a few hours of search and settings things up, you don't know how long it will remain functionnal.

And I prefer playing GT7 and PSVR2 visual result is really good, its only drawback is a lower resolution than some higher end PC VR headsets but I am happy to trade that for the total ease of use and hassle free experience.

Relevant to GT7 if you race online (and also the PS5 vs PC debate), Playstation Plus is getting a price increase in various regions - Latin America, South Korea, Australia so far, more to come.

I'm curious how licensing goes with these, if at all.

Like, there's the "road" Spoon EK in there (the yellow one with the carbon bonnet) as well as the one aping the #95 race car. Do Spoon know about that? Do PD literally license things just for three limited time races? Or do they just make the livery and hope Spoon don't see or are just okay with it.

We’ve got the licenced Spoon Sports decals. Plus it’s not exactly accurate with the rip decals and the use of different PD decals like the “AUTO PLUS” decal on the front bumper.
Probably similar to PD making the Eggenberger Ford Sierra RS 500 Texaco livery for the “DTM” weekly. Those decals are licenced and available to use in game.

I'm not a copyright guru so this is just my guess:
Styles/liveries in Showcase don't have copyright concerns because they're classed as user-generated content. That's why you see any and all logos/brands on cars there. I assume Polyphony doesn't have to worry about licensing here because they, I expect, use said user generated styles and are not the ones creating them.
