Yep, the Valkyrie road version is another car with a rechargeable hybrid boost button.

And the Valkyrie LMH is good example of the point I made in that previous post about Hypercars having a power cap of 670BHP at all times, regardless of engine/hybrid split.
The Valkyrie LMH doesn't have a hybrid at all, but is able to compete on a level playing field against the hybrid cars.
If the hybrid worked more as an LMP1-style boost that took the power from 670BHP-standard to e.g. 900BHP-temporarily, the Valkyrie LMH would be completely uncompetitive.

Gran Turismo has always celebrated the entire motoring industry as a whole. It recognizes the cars that made the world move. The Kei cars, the original VW Beetle, the small Euro econoboxes, you know. Even the Benz Patent Motorwagen and Daimler Motor Carriage were even included.


There is more to a car than just massive horsepower and downforce. Each car has its own charm that captivated people.

I, for one, drive a compact sedan (with VTEC kickin' in yo! :lol: ) everyday and sometimes a turbocharged minivan. Do they offer earth shattering performance? No. Are they peppy? More than so. Are they practical? Yes. Are they fun? Yes. There is something that connects you and the car. A bond. Cars like the Twingo create this unseen relationship only the driver and the car share. Driven more, you'd understand why players love seeing everyday runabouts in Gran Turismo. They allow them to expand this relationship even further in the safer confines of home, without breaking the speed limit or risking your life.

I am sure you have driven a low power economy car around the city. If you haven't then you'd really won't understand this hype.

I see first gen twingos around, they're quite common and I appreciate that Gran Turismo features common cars like those in such an immaculate state which I don't really get to see.

I think this is the predominant trend with the "where's my hypercar?" crowd.

Forgetting that some of the most fun and diverse experiences in this game can come when racing cars you would least expect.

Much like YouTube videos which don't support an existing world-view, my guess is that those people don't even bother trying to actually drive the cars they are criticising competitively.

To be honest I would like to see an overhaul of the Group 1 ruleset. If not a complete ditching of. We should have Group C, LMP1, LMP1-H, Hypercar and Group 1 as seperate classes. LMP1 COULD be put into Group 1 as we only have 2 cars from that ruleset, but the others have at least 4 so there's no reason not to do it.

I don't know what's the point of putting hashtags on each car in the garage yet putting them in a general class. Gr.1 has been barely touched, competition-wise, in the game.

Honestly, PD is being lazy categorizing those types of cars. Then in 950 pp Gr.1 events, we only have few solid choices (the 908 and the "base" LM55 VGT which isn't even categorized as a Gr.1 car, are the go-to options outside of the detuned Super Formula or F1 cars) because of the massive performance gap of all Gr.1 cars.

I don't want an event that makes me rely on just one or two options just for me to win.

Cars like the Twingo will come more into their own as part of an increased starter car roster for the next game I always think, but they can also be enjoyed at any stage of game progression.

Unfortunately GT7 is very weak in low to medium pp races. There are only few, and those that do exist are short and boring.
Not all of us are expert racers. Yet PD has made the mistake to cater GT7 to sport mode rather than career mode. A missed opportunity.

The game had a weak start, but after 5 years of updates I think the career mode is actually pretty decent now with tons of races to choose from.

As someone who recently ran a spec Twingo Cup online, tell me about it. :sly:

I hope that one day everyone in this community can experience the sheer joy of racing these cars against each other, even if they think they won't like it initially. Because to me, this is the absolute undeniable heart of Gran Turismo.

I said at the time that the Twingo was the best car in that months update. I think now I'd say it's the best so far this year. It's just fun. That's the point.

I think it’s a lot more simple tbh. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily about people refusing to try certain cars or ignoring experiences that challenge their expectations — sometimes it really just comes down to individual taste rather than mindset.

Different people enjoy different aspects of Gran Turismo, i.e. some people like to drive regular cars (or even their own daily driver) whereas others prefer race cars, such as myself. In fact I‘m glad that the GT games have always included both.

After all I‘m quite happy that PD have been focusing a lot more on adding race cars with the last couple of updates since we‘ve experienced such a long drought before.

The thing I love about GT is the fact that you can have cars like the Twingo and the hypercars. While my favorite cars is the Speed 12 most of my real world experience is with small cars and SUVs. I had a 95 Honda Civic FD and I loved that car. Unfortunately once we started having children I had to let it go. Anyway GT does an admirable job of representing car culture

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if it means nothing and we simply don't get another trailer for this update, or we do and it's just the same cars but presented in a usual way, it's totally possible. Feels like our previous big update was too recently to get another one, and those 5 cars are already quite big. Also the event looks like a good opportunity to tease the main "selling" points of the update, so I don't really see a reason why would they make a trailer only with cars and leave out a track, for example, especially since the update is coming rather soon.

This isn't me disputing the popularity of the cars, because I'm not, it's absolutely a big factor.

But a part of this is also that announcing trailers during GTWS really works. The Eiger trailer is the single most viewed one across all of GT Sport and GT7, and it's not particularly close.

The lesson I'd take if I were PD would be to keep doing that for updates they know live crowds will like, it builds hype in a way the standard silhouette reveals can't.

Don't get me started on this... I would love if they simply added a way to categorize your cars in folders, so that for example you can have a Swapped folder, a stock folder, but also a DTM folder etc, just to be easier for custom races (and let me dream, adding the option to build the grid picking randomly from a given folder). They already do this with stickers for your livery, so why not with cars?

Then, since it is clear they can associate an outfit to a car (see Tomahawk, Mangusta Dior, Ferrari and McLaren VGT), why can't I associate an outfit to a car style?
 
I wonder... since the modern Gr. 1's since the GT Sport days (Audi R18, Porsche 919 Hybrid, Toyota TS050) and the Toyota GR010 Hybrid had their other racing liveries part of the default color selection, are we gonna get the other liveries for the upcoming Hypercars, or is it just one livery like in the older games (for example, the Audi R18 TDI and Toyota TS030 Hybrid in GT6)?

I wouldn't be surprised if all four had both team liveries for each car as the differences tend to be minor (Slight color and/or number changes along with the driver names). Sport seems to have set a precedent with any recent top class car added and the Toyota GR010 only continued this trend in 7(While also getting updated liveries too interestingly)

Fair enough. To be clear: I am not one of those who always complain about GT7, I like the game and play it a lot.
But I think GT7 career mode is heavily weighted towards high pp categories. And those lower pp categories there are, have races that are short and boring and heavily segmented.
I think that some serious sub-600 categories with decent length and interesting races would be a big improvement. Why not have Touring Car 450, 500 and 550? Why just have a 580 pp historic car category? Add historic 400, 450 and 500. It's not a lot of effort and would add a really nice additional group of races.

yeah, comments on social media are overwhelmingly positive, the trailer is already the most watched monthly update trailer with only a few days in (there are trailers from years ago with half the view count), the content bursted the bubble being discussed on generalist gaming forums and places like r/wec, but sure, something must be very wrong with it.

you do realise this applies perfectly to the inverse, right? That the notion of a "group of people being vocal" about something usually revolves around a minority being noisy? I mean, if this mass of fans here are this unhearded majority, where are they when it comes to the update featuring road cars and curiosities? The previous trailer from the Twingo month, a beloved small car addition, didn't break 100 thousand views yet.

Anyways, I mean, not even Spec updates had this level of success.
