Honestly something I never expected. I mean, I was someone that included some of these in my "fake updates" for fun, but I never actually thought they would appear and all in one themed update. Polyphony doesn't typically do these now, they did a couple back in GT Sport with the 2017 Super GT for instance, but usually their updates are a random thing of cars.

I actually did want the new hypercars as while I think GT is about the quirkier cars and the mundane cars, those were never the only focus. They also have often focused on more conventional cars aswell including modern stuff sometimes. So yes, I will look forward to driving these.

you do realise this applies perfectly to the inverse, right? That the notion of a "group of people being vocal" about something usually revolves around a minority being noisy? I mean, if this mass of fans here are this unhearded majority, where are they when it comes to the update featuring road cars and curiosities? The previous trailer from the Twingo month, a beloved small car addition, didn't break 100 thousand views yet.

Anyways, I mean, not even Spec updates had this level of success.

It is a subjective metric just as the number of pages on exhibition mode, what we csn use to point out the success of "meme" cars over racing and super cars like the twingo, suzuki carry, avantime, elantra N, mazda3, etc.

To be honest I would like to see an overhaul of the Group 1 ruleset. If not a complete ditching of. We should have Group C, LMP1, LMP1-H, Hypercar and Group 1 as seperate classes. LMP1 COULD be put into Group 1 as we only have 2 cars from that ruleset, but the others have at least 4 so there's no reason not to do it.
I agree with this, honestly my biggest issue with Gr.1 (aside from the obvious class issue) are the VGTs. I can't stand seeing those VGTs racing against real cars.

I really don't understand why there's always this argument between those who prefer one type of car or another every time an update comes out.

The great thing about Gran Turismo is that it has always included all kinds of cars, everything.

It's a little sad (and boring, to be honest) to see the fandom "fighting" about what GT is like or what it is when we should all be happy about the great job PD does in including cars for all tastes.

That's what GT is all about: diversity.

Finally! I'm so glad to hear this from another member.

For the "race cars only" people: I'm sorry, but you don't even know what Gran Turismo is, and if that's all you're interested in, your best move is to go play something else.

For the "road cars only" people: you guys like to claim you're the OG fans, so don't act like race cars weren't a big part of the franchise since the very beginning.

You're absolutely entitled to your preferences, but when things reach a certain level (like what happened here), it just becomes a childish fight. GT was never about the Twingo, GT was never about the modern LM Hypercars. GT is the sweet combination of both worlds.

Great set of cars for an update but there’ll be 3 useless cars as soon as the other one of becomes a meta
Not in single player with enough options for tires/PP/power etc. Usually not a problem in the weekly challenges. Sometimes a problem in the Power Pack.

Ah... I don't know if it was me, at that moment in time, but I thought I would've been happier with the LMHs than I am, and I understand their importance to the game.

As of June, there will be 5 hypercars in the game, 3 of which greatly interest me (BMW which is my favorite, and Ferrari/Porsche being the most "important"), but most of the time I spent in GT7 is with the road cars. I felt more hyped for the 964 Turbo S than for the hypercars, but this is me.

Personally, I'd say, bring 'em on. The GR010 needs company and, despite the absence of the Cadillac and the Aston (the latter of which nobody would care about if not for its engine), we've got quite the group now. Ferrari the triple LM winner, Porsche which won't race at LM this year (to my knowledge) but has always been a force in the WEC and IMSA, Peugeot which is everyone's favorite underdog, BMW which has just won Spa (double 1-2 finish!), and Toyota which paved the way for this class. I hope PD's relationship with Hyundai makes it easier to add the Genesis to the game.

At the end of the day, Sony's delayed plans helped inject fresh blood into GT7. Despite not being perfect, I'm really not looking forward to doing everything from scratch again. So anything which keeps GT7 alive is good in my book.

Regarding the meta, as long as I can win Gr.1 Prototype Challenge @ Grand Valley with each of them without needing an upgraded turbo, I don't give a **** TBH. The Gr.1 class is a mess already and Gr.2 is even worse.

I hope Super GT gets an update too.

There's an interesting parallel here. Normally we tend to see cars in a group of 3, but for the Group C Prototypes and now the Le Mans Hypercars, they both have 5 cars each:

Group C:
  • Jaguar XJR-9
  • Mazda 787B
  • Mercedes-Benz Sauber C9
  • Nissan R92CP
  • Porsche 962C
Hypercar:
  • BMW M Hybrid V8
  • Ferrari 499P
  • Peugeot 9X8
  • Porsche 963
  • Toyota GR010

Yes, a trailer for a 2024 July update, so almost two years running, which had more cars and a new track, shows more views. Shocking.

On the other hand, an update trailer released last Saturday got more than half the total views of the one you picked in a couple of days.
@wowbaggerBR I know what you're trying to get at with your screenshots, but it's really not an informative metric.

You may well be right in your evaluation, but "number of YouTube views" is just a number.
Just a number, yes, that happens to be bigger. Somehow, I was under the impression that more views == better. In any case, by all means, show me a better metric to gauge the repercussion and how the update has been received and I'll be happy to accept it.

1.- Usage in daily races/World series (can be tracked on sites like Kudosprime
2.-Number of pages on liveries/photomode/scapes/replays in exhibition mode

Other than that is difficult and views on youtube are pretty arbitrary as there can be people looking for the videos without actually playing/owning the game, also I think youtube take the views with just 5 or 10 seconds of looking it (including preview mode in mobile)🤷🏻‍♂️

We will know how sucessful they are until the update is deployed and people start to really interact with the content. I wouldn't be surprised if all the attention goes only to 1 or 2 cars cofcofFerrariandPorschecofcof and the rest get relegated

3 weeks after that trailer was launched it had 430k views, a year and a half later only 50k more views were added

If you want to go round throwing YT numbers around as metrics for comparison you better know what you’re talking about.

Yes, and we have also complete LMP1 and LMP1H representation. In terms of LeMans prototypes GT7 is really great here. I hope we will get LMP 900 cars some day :)

Forgot what trailer it was that showed the 2016 Prototypes racing with GTE cars(fake C7 included) at Le Mans. Glad we'll be able make an updated grid(again with fake C8). ;)

I'm going to enjoy the cars when they drop. Something different for me. WEC and IMSA grids. A shame Acura hasn't made it back to the game even though the CL Type-S avatars spectate at nearly every track.

Well, 50,001 now... sorry about that haha :D
That must make it one of the BEST threads, no?

@wowbaggerBR sorry, I couldn't resist.

But to answer your question, I don't think there is a numerical statistic which can gauge how popular any given update is amongst the player base. We're just too varied and people interact with the game in so many ways, it's very nuanced so probably a fool's errand.

There is also a significant bias in the analysis of these figures; normally the video is often released on both the Gran Turismo page and the Playstation page, which contributes to dispersing the number of views or comments as well as the way the algorithm handles the situation.

Indeed the Eiger Nordwand June update did 480k views on Gran Turismo YT channel, but it also did 132k views on Playstation's.

I ain’t laughin’. Gimme! For those that haven’t experienced it in a game, it’s an awesome circuit with lots going on. Like mixing Nurb GP and Maggiore.
Awesome circuit indeed. Long turns and some blind corners with very cool elevation changes. One of my favourite race tracks😊.

But yeah it does seem like Peugeot was teasing us but we didn’t believe it😂. I don’t want to get my hopes up but maybe, just maybe they are teasing a track too…

Also, for some reason that reminds me of when we all tried to see with blurry images if it was the GT3 r or the RSR that pd used to make the Dunlop livery car just for it to be added 2 updates later…

That what I like about the forum so thank you guys for making it what it is today.

Not sure if we can expect the same for Super GT. It’s been ten years.
TBF, it's been ten years since the last grouping(?) of top-flight LMP/HY cars.

Shhhhh..... The random GR010 doesn't count.
